(1) Superficial veins:
(A) Cephalic Vein:
The cephalic vein usually forms over the anatomical snuff box from the radial end of the dorsal venous plexus. It curves proximally around the radial side of the forearm to gain it is ventral aspect, and receives veins from both aspects of the forearm.
It ascends in front of the elbow superficial to a groove between brachioradialis and biceps. It ascends lateral to biceps in the deltopectoral groove, entering the infraclavicular fossa it pierces the clavipectoral fascia, crosses the axillary artery and joins the axillary veins just below the clavicular level.
Distal to the elbow, a branch, "the median cubital vein" diverges proximomedially to reach the basilic vein. The median cubital vein is joined by a branch from the deep veins. …show more content…
(B) Basilic vein:
The basilic vein starts medially in the hand's dorsal venous network. It ascends postromedially in the forearm inclining forwards to the anterior surface distal to the elbow. Where it is joined by the median cubital vein, it ascends superficially to and between biceps and pronator teres.
It ascends medial to the biceps and perforates the deep fascia about midway in the arm, continuing medial to the brachial artery to the lower border of the teres major, there becoming the axillay vein. (William PL et al., 2005).
(C) Median vein of the forearm:
It drains the subcutaneous tissues in the front of the wrist and forearm. It divides at the elbow into the median cephalic and median basilic veins. The latter receives a deep vein. These two veins open into the cephalic and basilic veins

...Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus in Dogs Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus in dogs is also known as gastric torsion or bloat. Some veterinarians will also refer to this as GDV. Dilatation refers to a condition where an organ or structure in the body is stretched beyond the organs normal dimensions (Fossum, 2013). This disease is serious and the mortality rate could potentially be 20%-45% depending on the case of the animal (Fossum, 2013). In the content below, I will be explaining the pathophysiology, clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Unfortunately, the causes of this disease are still unknown. Veterinarians believe that GDV could happen based on exercising after a dog ingests a large meal or having a large intake of water....
