Thank you for providing the article. I enjoyed reading it. Since I work with you, I share the same thought regarding the ‘”unfairness” of patient satisfaction scores as the way to determine the compensation. Those scores may not fully reflect the quality of care that patients received because everyone’s expectations can be different. You did a great job explaining the strains/concerns for performance-based model.

For the “fee-for-service” system, payers reimburse for all services, regardless of their impact on patient health. This promotes the care providers to order unnecessary or more expensive tests (). For example, I have seen at my clinical site where before the patient has been seen, they would already draw labs and run some
