How often do you think about the different qualities of a leader? Many different qualities make a good leader. Both Patrick Mahomes, an NFL quarterback, and MacDuff, a character from Shakespeare's Macbeth, are excellent examples of leaders. Mahomes led with commitment, while MacDuff led with determination. To demonstrate, Patrick Mahomes is a great example of a real-life leader because he has commitment to the game and his whole team. Mahomes has, “That joy and loyalty drive his work ethic and the hours of practice and studying he puts in to be the best he can be. He puts a lot of time into the team which shows he is committed to his team and winning. Likewise, along with committing to the team, "He's a competitive player. It's the intestinal fortitude that's in him. He just refuses to accept that he's not going to put himself out there to be with his teammates,” (Chadiha, NFL.com) His competitive drive helps him stay focused and committed to the goals he is looking to achieve. Not only does it help him succeed, but it also helps his team achieve their goals. For example, in the playoffs of the past season, he suffered an ankle injury, but he was able to play through the injury and his team ended up winning the Superbowl. Because he is willing to put his health on the line, it shows he has true commitment and is willing to do anything for his team. In the play, “Tragedy of Macbeth” written by William Shakespeare, MacDuff proved to be the best leader as he stayed determined and driven to what he needed to accomplish.
