In the Green Book time period, there are many examples of racism that occurred in society back then. For example, Paula Wynter was a young girl in the 1950s in North Carolina when her family hid in the Buick after a local sheriff passed them and chased them. Her father stopped the car and switched off the headlights and they all hid under a tree. They sat there until the sun came up. The town was a “sundown town”. These towns banned black motorists after sun down or sunset. If I was in Paula’s situation, I would have done the same thing or just not have left home after dark so the police wouldn’t have the opportunity to catch me. It was considered an honor to have your home listed as a rooming house. If I let travelers into my home, then even my safe own safety could be in danger. I don’t know anybody that is taking a room in my home, hotel, or whatever but if I let the wrong people in I could be in real trouble. In their situation, I wouldn’t leave when I knew I wouldn’t make it home by dark or pass through a sundown town. As the landlord, I wouldn’t be giving out rooms to people at night because you never know what could happen or what people are planning. Right now, it’s still hard for some races to find jobs based on their skin color. Over time I think that it will get worse because of all the new things that are happening like basic stereotypical things like people getting arrested or people stealing. They hold it to the whole race thinking that they’re all like that when they aren’t. Another issue is what you can wear in public places. People can even judge you off your haircut to know what type of things you like, like sports, music, or social
