...There is no hope of doing perfect research (griffiths,1998, p97). Do you agree? Introduction The statement that "There is no hope of doing perfect research," (Griffiths, 1998, p97) was made by Morwenna Griffiths, a professor and writer, in her book Educational Research for Social Justice: Getting off the Fence. What the statement basically meant was that we cannot ever expect our research to be of a level where we can say it's at its ultimate best. There are several reasons for this and seeing not only the logic in the statement, but also having personally experienced it, I too have to agree. What is research and why can’t it be perfect? Research is basically a collection of information which we choose to develop, store or manipulate. There are two sorts of research, qualitative and quantitative. The former deals more with theoretical findings while the latter can be viewed as collection of information, mostly statistical. Keeping these two sorts of research and that basic definition in mind the basis for that statement is made quite clear and self-explanatory. The endless limits of research For one thing, research can never be complete or absolute. If we consider the world of information to be an ocean, we can consider our research to be the water in a bucket. As long as I'm on one end of the ocean, I will never know what the other end might hold. I might miss out on something that contradicts or better explains what I'm currently considering as my best example...

...The purpose of assignment three was to take the information that I learned in my research paper and transform is into three different genres that would target three different audiences. My research paper focused on medical writing and some topics that lay within it. In my paper I gave a background in medical writing history and then talk about it in the present day. I cover prescription writing errors, becoming published and writing in medical school. I chose to take my information on the history of medical writing, prescription errors, and becoming published and transform it into different genres other than a research paper. Along with changing the genre that the information is presented in I must also repurpose it with the intention of targeting...

...Renting an Apartment is a better option than buying a House (Week 2 Day 7 Assignment) Is renting an apartment a better option than buying a house? My argument is buying a house is a better option than renting an apartment. The point of view will support my topic by including facts, statistics, examples and details. The point of view will include the pros of buying a home versus the cons of renting an apartment, such as buying a house is an investment versus throwing money away, buying a house can be a tax deduction, buying a house is an investment you can live in, having a fixed mortgage rate in buying a house is a better financial option than having to deal with the inflation of rent every lease renewal, last but not least buying a home will allow you to update and upgrade as you wish, inside and outside. My point of view will also include facts and evidence against the opposing position. An argument cannot be one sided. Including evidence such as an apartment is rent and rent is money that is not an investment, you can add up all the rent you have paid in the past twenty –five years and have nothing concrete to show for it versus paying a mortgage for the past twenty-five years and could own the house in another five in most cases. In an apartment you cannot upgrade as you wish, you may risk rent increasing every year upon the lease being renewed and new management can take over and you lose your apartment. With a house, you get a garage, with an apartment you have...

...a world of haziness and confusion. Unfortunately, there is not too many who will guide you down the successful path. In my years I’ve encountered a handful of both types. I was lead down many paths but in the end I created my own. In the next few paragraphs I will share some experiences of my own. My first semester at the College of Staten Island I wasn’t too sure what to expect walking into the first day of classes. Each professor had very different yet very unique ways of teaching. One teacher fortunately enough showed care and covered her students with a blanket of comfort. Let’s call this professor Mrs. Sunshine. She welcomed us into the course with open arms and made sure each and every student knew she was there to help us with any obstacle we came across in a writing assignment. She held her hand out not only for help in her course but also for any writing assignment in each course we were taking. The first day she cited a quote she once heard from one of her favorite professors back in her day of attending college. “If you don’t hear a student’s voice on the first day of classes, it will not be heard for the rest of the semester,” Professor Sunshine was quite disturbed thinking a student might be left in the dark a whole semester, so she made sure she immediately began to know each student on a personal level. This professor knew almost every students name by the end of the first class. Each week her lectures were voiced enthusiastically which brought the dreary Friday...

...Two sets of research will be covered in this paper first we have prevaricator, John D’Agata with his research article Lifespan of a Fact and second Rebecca Skloot book/research, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. The purpose of this paper is to detail the day and night between the two pieces, the literary analysis and the overall attitude felt by the authors. Starting off from a quote out of D'Agata's article "I'm not writing for public office. I'm trying to write something that's interesting to read.” That's D'Agata summed up in one sentence. He is merely writing for entertainment and sport. Not interested in the truth in the least but how he can bend the truth to fit his story so it sounds good. While on the other hand Skloot gives a nice story in chronological order. Not only that but she gives us history of the time period in which she is investigating. She also gives a nice genealogy of Lacks life and family. This is something not found in D'Agata's research, this is actual facts about the person being researched....

May 9th, 2011 was not an ordinary day, but a pay day for the sweat of my studies. It was a day crowned with endless emotions, as I admired my durable and beautiful bracelet watch that ultimately spoke attitude. Featuring a round case, a black rotating bezel with hand crafted plastic link band with a silver double push safety Italian clasp, a stylish Ferrari logo inked in the heart of the minute wheel, finely visible from miles away through the watch’s crystal; meet the Ferrari Electro-Luminescent stylish watch, my precious summer gift from dad. Being my first gift for an exemplary performance in an exam, the Ferrari Electro Luminescent stylish watch has always ignited happiness to my life, as I dance to its ticking sounds generated by the contact of both the transmission and ratchet wheels. Furthermore, it has instilled confidence in me due to its lavish look. Since then, waking up has been the easiest chore of my daily activity, its notorious alarm bells set in the watch having immensely perfected the art of clouding my ear drums for the purpose of annoying my sleep, simply because, time to wake up is time to wake up. ...Prutilpac English 102-056 Charity Ginerich Research Proposal The topic that I would like to research for the final research paper is the issue of ethics in regards to registering a pet to be a service animal. I am arguing that it is morally acceptable to get your pet registered as a service animal even when there are no known disabilities of the owner. I have some experience with this topic because I have a dog that I recently got registered as a service animal. I have no disabilities but was still able to get him registered by law. This is a very easy task to do and anyone is capable to do so. There are two obvious sides to this argument. One side is that it is morally acceptable for any animal to be able to get certified as a service dog; while the other is that it is wrong and could be disrespectful to get a pet registered when there is no disability. The common ground to this issue is that an animal should be registered as a service animal as long as it is well behaved and causes no harm to people or animals around it. “The term ‘service animals’ describes animals who render assistance of some sort to people with disabilities (Malamud). What if we all have disabilities of some sort? Because I am arguing that it is morally acceptable to get a pet service trained without having a disability, I hope to get my readers to realize that this could benefit people in many ways. Many animals provide services to people every single day even when they are not registered as a service...

...Summary Holcomb (2007) divides her article “Putting INSOMNIA to rest” into four main sections. The first section provides information on insomnia. The second section describes some causes and risk factors that are associated with insomnia. The third section explains types of treatments for people with insomnia. The last section gives a questionnaire that can help evaluate if someone may have insomnia. In the first section, Holcomb (2007) states “80% of patients with insomnia never tell their healthcare provider” (p 29). This number is significant because it is estimated that around 50 to 70 million Americans are affected by insomnia. As Holcomb describes, insomnia can affect all age groups, but it is more common in females and increases with age, stress, and medical conditions. According to Holcomb, Insomnia is defined as having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or wakening up refreshed. Insomnia can be either acute or chronic. Acute insomnia occurs in around 30% to 50% of adults and is described as insomnia lasting less than four weeks. Chronic insomnia occurs in around 10% to 30% of adults, lasts longer than four weeks, and is associated with daytime sleepiness. These number could be higher however, as Holcomb explains, because many people with insomnia do not tell anyone. In the second section of “Putting Insomnia to Rest,” Holcomb describes causes and risk factors of insomnia. Stress is one of the most common risk factors, which can also lead to anxiety and depression...

...Research Proposal Proposal for Research Topic The topic that I chose to research about is how technology is affecting people and how they interact with one another. More specifically though, I want to focus on the younger generation and children, and how their engulfment in the digital world is seriously affecting their physical relationships with family and friends. Now, to focus on children, family, friends, and how they are all being affected by the new and coming digital life is a decently broad topic. So, to limit my topic I will look closely at what questions and answers I can ask in regards to each of the above areas of research, and develop a tentative thesis. The preliminary research that I’ve conducted so far includes three articles; “How our digital devices are affecting our personal relationships”, “Children, technology, problems, and preferences”, and “Kids really are different these days”. The first of the three, entitled “How our digital devices are affecting our personal relationships”, brings to attention the fact that everyone nowadays is getting really caught up in recent technologies, and it goes on to discuss how such a strong involvement in technology is negatively affecting our personal relationships. Furthermore, the article mentions how the presence of cell phones reduces many vital factors in maintaining strong relationships with friends and family, including trust, closeness, and empathy. The second article, entitled “Children, technology, problems...
