My interest in writing essays and being a leader allowed me to be elected Editor in Chief of the largest award winning yearbook in the nation. Working side by side with my Journalism teacher and managing a staff of editors, photographers and ad managers has taught me how to manage a company more than any AP course ever could. I have first hand experience in promoting an environment where every staff member could achieve their goals. I have first hand experience in learning to prioritize in order to meet deadlines and most importantly I have first hand experience in learning that quitting is not an option. But oddly, being Editor in Chief was not my identity throughout High School, because no person takes notice of who creates the yearbook, but instead I was known for being President of my class. While this was an important leadership position, no leadership position holds candle to the …show more content…
Being President of my class, I was responsible for morning announcements, writing monthly editorials for the Bagpipe newspaper and creating social media post to promote school involvement. Student Council members felt the more each student was involved in school or community activities the less likely they would veer into self destruction. While being Editor in Chief, communication was a bit trickier, I had to trust my staff and ad manager’s editorial abilities to proof spreads that met the standards of excellence in our Journalism teachers eyes. Motivation was based on praise for a job well done and acknowledgement for completing an A+ spread. Too often, with a lot of chiefs on the yearbook staff, writing a spread would become objectionable so it was my job to come to a final decision. In both positions the common goal was to make every person feel inclusive and important in order to get the most out of each

Finding the Leader in You

...Finding the Leader In You: Self-Assessment Sharonda Jackson Dr. Edwin Quinn Jr. July 17, 2013 Self assessment is the process of knowing oneself in detail, like what you are fond of and what you do not like. In certain situations what are your reaction and how you tackle the difficult and stressed situations etc. All these things help in the improvement of one’s personality and greatly help him to select the right occupation which is most suitable for him (“Self-Assessment Resources,” n.d.). Not only that, these things also helps to better understand the organizational behavior and then you can change yourself according to the environment. In most of the countries, being a manger is highly respected and people see themselves as future managers. But that’s not sufficient people have to develop certain skills that are actually present in managers. Some people have a natural talent to be a manager while others have to develop it (Goyal, 2012). Same is the case with me. My score shows that there is need to develop and further flourish my managerial skills and competencies. Only after that I can become an effective leader. Before applying to any managerial sort of job I should improve my skills so that I can fit there easily. Some business sort of career would be suitable for me if I developed and improve my competencies. There are some situations when decisions have to be made just on some intuitions whether in one’s personal life or in professional. Intuition is totally...

Analysis Of Donald Trump's Eloquence In The Electronic Age

...Though he never managed to formally command words, Reagan became one of the most distinguished communicators of modern times. He accomplished this through his ability to speak casually and directly to the people. As Kathleen Hall Jamieson notes in “Eloquence in the Electronic Age,” Reagan’s grasp of modern technology allowed him to capture the attention of the American audience. Reagan was a master of storytelling and manipulation of his audience, which can be attributed to his career as a Hollywood actor. He preferred the “story” over the facts, and was a “very straightforward, plain-spoken communicator.” This style of communicating is common with Republican leaders from former President George W. Bush to current President Donald Trump. One...

It is not an ironclad method which envisages who will direct or by what method will he or she direct. These articles give a concept into the methods to effect or utilize a particular description of successful management. However the conception of an effective leader is biased, which makes it challenging to visibly describe what characteristics and qualities cause somebody to be an effective administrator or leader. There is also not any unanimity concluded as to which traits are largely significant for those in chief positions such as leaders and administrators to have. Although some view character traits like self-confidence and inspiration, others contemplate natural traits like individuals size to be more important. This paper is a synthesis analysis of three research articles that explored leadership styles, individual’s temperaments, perception of themselves and others, and their gratefulness of multiplicity and variation using an assortment of students, managers, and presidential affiliates. These articles present concrete points of view for those in leadership, management and Presidential positions.
