“The Game”

It all started with a tournament in California. I was a part of one of the best teams in Arizona we called ourselves the AZ Shockers. During the whole tournament we played like we were the Golden State Warriors in the finals. We were hitting almost every shot we attempted. We played amazing better than we ever have. After the tournament my coach made a decision on joining the Bigfoot Vegas tournament. He knew we were ready for more competition. When he told us we were so excited and we all can see ourselves winning that tournament and taking a team picture with our victory trophy. We were ready to win and eager to show the rest of the states that we weren’t just the best in Arizona but in the United States.

This was one of the toughest teams in the nation. It was the 4th quarter they were up by 23. They thought they had it, we key stealing the ball I was open in the corner. I hit the 3 we are now down by 20. Next play, steal again I hit another 3 now down by 17. Next play, they missed a shot, I took it down the court shot another 3 while doubled, now down by 14. There is five minutes left in the game and it’s our ball. We made a play to get me to shot another 3 and it worked, down by 11. Next play the other team had a turnover. The ball was passed in to me, I bring the ball up to the top of the key and whoosh! Swish now we are down by 8. The crowd goes crazy sounds like I’m at a professional soccer game overseas. Other team brings the ball up they shoot miss I get the rebound and race down the court. On a fast break I pulled up for a 2 and made it now we are down by 5. The other team was playing like trash, they made another turnover! My teammate Byron passed it in I got the ball and drove to the basket and got a “and 1.” Which in regular terms mean I made a shot and got fouled. I shot my free throws and made it now we are down by 2. 10 seconds left. The other team has to pass it in. we had lockdown defense the in bounder made a dumb decision and threw it straight to Byron I ran to the corner. Byron seen me and passed it I shot it off balance and it was in the air it felt like a slow motion. I see the ball go in, I hear screaming I got tackled, we won! That was one of the best games I had in my entire 14 years of my

Personal Narrative: The Game Of Golf

...“Golf is deceptively simple, but endlessly complicated”-Arnold Palmer. The game of golf, as many people around me have come to find out, is and always will be my passion. The game of golf appeals to me in many ways, from the perfect, crisp sound of a club ripping through the grass, to the firm rattling of a ball falling in the hole after a perfectly executed putt, golf continually demonstrates why the game is so hard to leave. The summer months have always called me, not because of freedom from a federally mandated institution, or countless days of sleeping past noon, but completely, and only, golf. Of course, similar to the majority of adolescents, I did have my splurge days of sleeping in, if you call 8:30 AM “sleeping in”. However, all of the early mornings were for a good cause, nothing appeals more to me than walking down the fairway of the first hole at 6:55 AM, watching as the sun rises above the horizon in awe-inspiring oranges and yellows, and knowing I am currently the first golfer to walk this perfectly manicured golf course. On the other hand, the remark arrived, “You’re crazy for doing that”, but in that comment lay my satisfaction; a few hours of sleep will always be a...

Personal Narrative: The Softball Game

...The Softball Game Everything is moving in slow motion, everyone around me seems to be moving at the pace of a snail. I can feel every single one out of ten thousand jolts of energy sparking through my entire body. My eyes shoot around like crazy trying to follow everything that’s happening outside of my head. I can’t think of anything else, only one single thought occupies my mind… ‘Will we win?’ I ask myself this question over and over again, nonstop. Then the world speeds up moving at a fraction of a second than it was a minute ago. Someone is shouting over and over again, maybe it’s me. This game would determine if American Legion (my softball team) would make it to the championship game. It’s the second to last inning...

Personal Narrative: The Game Of Poker

...American players are still reeling from the lost opportunities of online gambling thanks to their country's decision to ban it. The ban unfortunately includes the game of poker. Whether this is fair or not depends on how you view poker. Is it a game of chance...or a game of skills? Poker as a Game of Chance Perhaps the only time chance or luck will be able to play a factor is when the dealer starts dealing out cards and you get a hole pair of aces. That's the best of luck, isn't it? But there are still players out there who are able to muck their hands either by overestimating their card, misreading their opponents, or unwittingly folding. As these scenes show, the element of chance has a very minute influence on who wins the game. Poker as a Game of Skill On the other hand, there are many reasons why poker may be considered as a game of skill. Skill is different from talent. Skill is something you're not born with, but something you hone through practice and experience. It is skill that mostly distinguishes calling stations or rookies from the veterans. It is skill that allows players to do their best with their hole cards. If you've been a spectator to any of the games played by the big names in poker, you no doubt have seen countless of times champions turn the tables around their opponents and beat unbeatable...

Personal Narrative: The Game Of Basketball

...It was a tough season for basketball, we were undefeated but we were heading to a championship basketball game against fruitland who we barely beat by just a couple points in the first 2 games. The starting 5 were me Josh, Hayden, Cody, and Beeg. We were heading to Wiser because they hosted the championship football game which we won also but we were nervous because fruitland had a 6 foot kid and I had to guard him. It was hard for me because I was only 5/10 and was guarded by him which made it hard for me to get rebounds and make shots. That tall kid averaged around 14, 15 points a game but with me guarding him, I held him to 6 points a game against us. We were about to step foot on the floor and when we did the stands were packed and there...

...It was a freezing snowy winter break, the snow was white and soft on the cold hard ground and my brother (Josh), my cousin (Andrew), and I were at my grandma’s house. We had just finished a game of Clue, which was a board game I was good at. Usually Josh or I would win. We decided to go sledding back on the big hill in the bean field. I got on my snow equipment quickly and was waiting on Josh and Andrew. I was almost sweating, having the full snow suit on inside. Personal Narrative: Going To The Cubs Game

...Going to the Cubs Game By:Cam Stalzer It was my birthday, and I was opening my presents. When I opened a present from my mom and noticed that it was a Cubs T-Shirt and a Cubs tank top. I felt something was going on especially when my sister had gotten a shirt and so did my dad too. My last present was a cross word puzzle, which ended with tickets to a Cubs game. I even got some tour tickets for Wrigley too. When it was the fourth of September, we got all packed up getting ready to go to Chicago. As we were heading to our hotel, my sister and I played this one math game. It was this game where you have two dice and you can either add, subtract, multiply, and divide. All to see who could get their 10 blocks up. If you got a 6 and a 5, you could put someone else’s blocks down. If you roll a 12 and a 12, you have to put your blocks down. It was a pretty fun game. We played a couple of times until we stopped to eat lunch at this pizza place. We had another hour and a half till Chicago, so I decided to sleep. I slept most of the way until we were listening to the Cubs game on the radio. I kind of dozed of a little until we were 20 minutes away from our hotel. We got to the hotel at about 4:55. The Cubs game was about over so we hurried up to our room so we could watch the Cubs play. We were watching the Cubs game and we were playing the math game again...

Football's Third Game-Personal Narrative

...It was a rainy day, but great for a game of football, my football team's third game was in Marquette, Michigan. The team we were facing were the best in the league. The team was Econo Falls, and Econo Falls had the best running offence, but not passing offence. Meanwhile, in the first quarter I heard Andrew yell, “Monster! Monster!”, at that moment I got in the gap and blitz the quarterback! I felt the quarterback on the tips of my fingers and then at that moment Andrew and I sacked him! The quarterback was laying on the ground moaning, and squealing like a pig, the coach had to send their second string quarterback fin. After we sacked the quarterback we discussed we were going to do monster formation again. However, in the second quarter...

Personal Narrative: The Game Called Consequences

...Friday. This week had many events went done. Originally, I prepared on a game called “consequences”, which the main idea is sending information about that “every action has its consequence”. In another world, if you have good behavior, you can give positive reinforcement to help you reach your goal. In contract, if you have bad behavior, you will have negative reinforcement to lead you away from your goal. I planned to play this game in the morning, however, when I went into my group room, there are only three people here because other clients were a little bit late for some reason. Therefore, I moved the game to afternoon and found something else to fill up the time in the morning group....

Personal Narrative Essay: The Last Game Of Dodgeball

...I was the last remaining player on my team in what had been a heated game of dodgeball. Though it had at first appeared to be a fairly even match, the game eventually descended into near annihilation as the opposing team steamrolled us. Now, it was just me versus eight of them. At that moment, I realized that I had two options: I could either dodge the ball and survive for a little while longer, or I could try to catch it — a far riskier proposition, considering that, should the ball bounce off my fingertips, the game would be over. In the split second before the ball would inevitably collide with me, I reached out my hands and seized it from midair. The teacher’s whistle blew, and one of my teammates entered back into the game. Together, we avoided the multitude of balls thrown at us using a strategic combination of dodging and, when applicable, catching. Each successful catch brought back another member of our team, and, with our determination restored, we managed to come back from what had been an almost certain loss. Caught up in the fervor of victory, I had no way of knowing that that would be the last game of dodgeball I would ever play....

...On May 14, 2016 my soccer team played our biggest rival, Starmount High School. The game was tied, and we went into overtime twice. After that, it was time for penalty kicks. Even though I was a sophomore, I was on the lineup for the penalty kicks. There were two sophomores, one junior, and two seniors. I was third in line to shoot. Although we lost, I made my penalty kick while the two seniors missed theirs. It was their last game and they lost it. At the time I was mad; now I understand how they felt.
