Personal Plan to Succeed
I had many personal and professional plans to succeed years ago when I got married at the age of twenty, and after my daughter was born. I say “I had” because I believe I have succeeded. “Setting and working toward goals, managing time effectively and dealing with the stresses that often arise through the journey are three aspects of self-management,” (Carter, Bishop, Kravits, 2007) and aspects that take me through life. I said I was going to become a nurse, and I did. I said I was going to open my own business, and I did. I believe success is when you have accomplished a certain goal that you have put your mind to. I believe in that “the knowledge and accomplishment you have built will give you more power to handle the ups and downs of life and to continue on toward your future.”(Carter, Bishop, Kravits, 2007)
I believe there are personal and professional goals I have to accomplish. Personal goals and professional goals I have include: finishing my Master’s degree, seeing my daughter finishing her career, and growing in my business. I believe that I am not done expanding my knowledge. Like someone once said, “Being a motivated lifelong learner will allow you to ride the waves of change, remaining able to manage and achieve your evolving career and personal goals.”(Carter, Bishop, Kravits, 2007).
Some of the reasons I want to pursue my graduate studies are: I enjoy going to school and learning new things, and that I feel that my career needs some kind of turn and I cannot make it without continuing my education. “Learning something new each day; commit yourself to on-going learning and self-improvement.” (Berg, 1996).
My long-term goal I have is to pursue my Master’s degree in the time required. Another long-term goal I have is to be better at my job, and keep my business growing on a daily basis. My short-term goal is

...Personal responsibility is the root to your professional and educational achievements. What personal responsibility means to me is taking control of your own actions and doing things when you commit to them. Taking personal responsibility of your own life and your goals. College success and personal responsibility go hand and hand. Without personal responsibitly you cannot succeed in college. Hayward said it best; “Take responsibility for your own education. It’s time to cut out the excuses and get down to work. Lofty dreams of a good life and success don’t cut it-honest work does. While others can provide you the tools, nobody but yourself can guarantee you’ll succeed.” (Hayward, 1992) Using the tools provided to you like setting up goals both long term and short term can help you have college success because it is your own responsibility on how you achieve those goals to succeed. Without holding yourself accountable to your actions weather its good or bad, you will not succeed in your college career. Without personal responsibility there is no one to make you succeed. Only you can do that and have to want to. I feel that personal motivation is also a key factor in personal responsibility and college success. If you are not motivated to succeed then what is the point in holding yourself accountable when you fail? You are already failing by not wanting to succeed. Wanting to succeed helps drive you to achieve those goals you set and help you better yourself by accomplishing them...

Personal Responsibility is taking responsibility for your actions, accepting the consequences that come from those actions and understanding that what you do impacts those around you. In order to be successful in anything in life it is important to understand this definition and live by it. More specifically when it comes to success in the college environment it is important to realize that personal responsibility is key in making it to the end of a degree program. While many college students belief is, as long as you’re staying focused you don’t need a plan, I believe that a plan is necessary and by setting clear goals, having uninterrupted work time, and managing stress levels succeeding in any course will be a breeze. The first thing I feel that is extremely important as a personal responsibility in order to succeed in school is to set clear goals. By setting goals that are on point with your schoolwork I am holding myself accountable and making sure I meet the deadlines not only set by my instructor but by my own standards. Personally, I hate the feeling of letting myself down just as much or more than letting an instructor down so it works as a double check system. Some goals I will have in participation are being active in discussion boards and doing my part in my group projects. Some other personal goals include...

Personal responsibility affects many aspects of life and without personal responsibility my life would be chaos. Taking personal responsibility for my education is extremely important because failure is not an option for me. I know that now because of all the previous choices I have made, for example, getting married early and having a kid. My personal life got in the way of my personal achievement that I had set for myself to accomplish. I am very happy that I have a wonderful family, but because of poorly processed responsibilities towards my educational success, I find myself incomplete today. Personal Responsibility

...Personal Responsibility Gen/200 May 20, 2013 Personal Responsibility Personal responsibility defines how a person will succeed not only academically but also throughout one’s life. When a person encompasses personal responsibility, he or she executes obligations in every aspect of his or her existence. It is necessary for a person to exhibit personal responsibility if one desires to have a lucrative and successful life. College Success and Personal Responsibility For one to achieve college success a person must have determination, to do what is necessary in one’s college career. A student must strive for excellence and have dedication to achieve a college degree. An undergraduate cannot expect to reach graduation if assignments do not get turned in on time or attend classes. In many cases sacrifice is necessary, meaning that three day camping trip may necessitate postponement. This is, unfortunately, the nature of the beast. In addition, a student must take ownership of his or her actions, achievements, and failures. It is important to remember, the world does not owe anyone anything, everything a person achieves is something he or she earns and that does not always come at cheap price. Plan to Overcome The greatest thing a person can ever do is to have a plan to reach goals and overcome obstacles that will inevitably arise. The primary step in this process is to become, and stay organized. One can keep a calendar handy with important dates, like the date that thousand...

Success in college relies solely on the direct effect of personal responsibility, as it is the students’ job to fulfill the education requirements. Every individual has a personal responsibility to succeed, not just in school, but in life. Personal responsibility is required to succeed in life. Succession in college is up to one person, the student. Every student has a duty to succeed. There are plenty of people expecting a student to succeed, but responsibility is solely on the student. The parents who pushed, the teachers who encouraged, but only the student can decide whether they will fail or not. The student has to make the choice of studying, or partying, or working, or sleeping. These decisions can be difficult sometimes, but there will be nobody to blame but the student for failure. Where there is a will, there is a way. Every individual has a duty to themselves to succeed. I honestly do not believe there is a single person that has ever awakened and decided to be a bum. A person’s lifestyle is due mostly in part by the decisions they have made in the past. A person with personal responsibility and self- determination will be successful in whatever they choose to do. I believe that personal responsibility is the ability of each individual to maturely respond to the various challenges and circumstances of life. The challenges I face in my life are work, school and my personal life. Without personal responsibility I would not be able to balance between them. Personal Responsibility

...Personal Responsibility Although there are many things needed to succeed in college, personal responsibility is one of the most important ones. Personal responsibility means to be held accountable for a person’s own actions. The outcome of an individual’s decisions, whether good or bad, is solely his or her responsibility. Once a person accepts this, the accomplishment of goals previously set becomes easier to achieve. The Sequence of Personal Responsibility tells how when it comes to personal responsibility, not only do we have to willingly accept how important the standards established by society are, we also need to ensure we try our hardest to live by those standards. Additionally, when we fail to meet these standards, we can’t blame everyone or everything else for our failure (Haskins, 2009). Success in college will depend on, among other things, the person’s acceptance of personal responsibility. Students are given the proper tools to succeed. The end result will be in the individual’s hands. This is where a strong sense of personal responsibility will come in to play. There are many factors that will lead a person to succeed in college. Finding out what motivates the person is one. It can be the fact that the person wants a better job, or maybe the person likes their job but wants a promotion along with better pay. Another reason can be that one is seeking self improvement by obtaining a college degree, seeking a higher degree, or finishing a previously started degree...
