...My future career in pharmacy was well thought-out before college until the very moment I was questioned about how I felt about my life. I was assisting a patient in the pharmacy and she merely asked me, “How’s life?” My response of simply being content prompted an unexpected response from not only her but myself as well. She responded, shocked, that I couldn’t have used a better depiction and how satisfying it was to hear that I was content. Her stunned reaction made me question not just about how rare it was for others to provide a similar response but ultimately, whether or not I meant what I had said. Was I really content? That was when it truly hit me, I was not satisfied with my life. I did not want to become a pharmacist. For me, it was something that lacked exhilaration, something that I just had absolute no desire for. All because of this patient's comment, I made the drastic change to drop pharmacy and switch career paths. I no longer wanted to make the same mistake and choose something I did not enjoy, like pharmacy. I wanted to explore something I have always been passionate about, which is numbers! While I found out the hard way about what I wanted to pursue in life, it was better for me to derive to this decision sooner than later. Later that year, I decided to get my feet wet by first taking an introduction to accounting course. It was so minimal and to explore even more, I took the subsequent course as well. After taking those courses, it utterly reinforced my...

...Roxanne M Hart Grand Canyon University: NVR-430 Professional Dynamics June 16th, 2013 According to the research that has been conducted by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, when you compare a nurse with an associate’s degree to a nurse who has a bachelorette degree, the nurse that is prepared with the bachelorette is more prepared clinically and has shown to have lower mortality rates, fewer medication errors, and more positive outcomes for patients. I have read over and compared the Grand Canyon University’s philosophy to the College of Southern Nevada’s nursing programs mission statement. It is not hard to see why research shows that a nurse with a bachelorettes degree is more prepared and knowledgeable to care for patients than a nurse holding an associate’s degree. The College of Southern Nevada’s mission statement states to graduate competent, compassionate, and caring nurses who strive for excellence in their delivery of care to meet the health needs of the community and to contribute to the profession of nursing. The goals of the program are to assist the nurse to be caring, competent, be creative by using their critical thinking skills for decision making while caring for patients, to assist the nurse with communications skills that allow them to collaborate with other disciplines, and professionalism to teach the nurse to continue lifelong learning, accountability, and to be a patient advocate. ...Walgreens Overview Walgreens Co., America’s premier pharmacy is what Charles R. Walgreen called his neighborhood drugstore that has grown into a nationally recognized fortune 500 company. Charles R Walgreen was born in Galesburg, a small town in Illinois, but shortly relocated to a town sixty miles away named, Dixon, Illinois. Dixon is where the dream of Walgreens Co. began. At the age of sixteen years old, working in a factory, Charles cut off the top of his middle finger and ended his athletic career. This led him to take a job at Horton’s Drug Store in Dixon, Illinois. Charles absolutely despised this job but needed to do something to get him through school. Once school was out, in 1893 Walgreen relocated to Chicago, Illinois where he discovered that the drugstore industry wasn’t so bad after all. Walgreen gained knowledge from some of the best pharmacist known to man, Samuel Resenfield, Max Grieben, William G Valentine, and Isaac W Blood. While working with pharmacist he discovered that maybe working for Horton’s Drug Store all of those years ago was going to pay off. Charles realized that in the Chicago area the pharmacy/drugstore was very prominent and that he needed to do something to stand out. When it came to a drugstore/pharmacy consumers had many choices in the Chicago area. In 1901, he had saved up enough money to put a down payment of his own pharmacy. “Walgreen’s drugstore was located in Barrett’s Hotel at Cottage Grove ad Bowen Avenue on Chicago’s...

...and speak with authority and confidence among their interdisciplinary peers. Very often nurses shy away from presenting their opinion for lack of knowledge and /or confidence. Nurses have always been pushed aside in decision making regarding patient treatment. Their opinion does not matter. They are there to carry the doctor’s order. If nurses who spend more time anyway with the patient than the doctors do will confidently assert their educated opinion about a patient care to the doctors, they will begin to earn more respect. If a nurse is confident and performs her job well, every patient and family encounter becomes an avenue to sell nursing profession. ...Abstract Since Sam Walton’s discount retailer first opened its doors in 1962, Wal-Mart has grown to be the largest corporation in the world. Wal-Mart is revolutionizing the way the retail items are passed from producer to end-user by drastically cutting costs at every opportunity and demanding the same of their suppliers. These savings passed onto the consumers has not come without a price! Where some see a discount or a job opportunity, others see an empire that pulls the rug out of existing businesses. For years, Wal-Mart has been accused of a number of criminal actions and questionable ethical practices. Many people, from all walks of life, find themselves discussing (and some even arguing) the topic: “Is Wal-Mart good for America?” Many blame this modern trend of globalism, the outsourcing of manufacturing, the closing of mom & pop stores and independent grocers on Wal-Mart. But the question that must be asked is as follows: Is Wal-Mart really to blame for all the things that they are being accused of? After all, aren’t the consumers fueling Wal-Mart’s position as the number one retailer in the world by their constant search for the lowest possible price? And don’t we have a choice as to where we should shop and isn’t it our responsibility to avoid businesses that we deem are unethical? Is Wal-Mart unethical or are they just misunderstood? Background Wal-Mart has been forced to defend itself against several lawsuits that were filed against...

...shared that statement with numerous groups and it simply summarizes my basic philosophy of what Sullivan is all about. When I say that Sullivan is “student success focused,” I feel as President that I owe a definition of this statement to all who are considering Sullivan University. First, Sullivan is unique among institutions of higher education with its innovative, career-first curriculum. You can earn a career diploma or certificate in a year or less and then accept employment while still being able to complete your associate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree by attending during the day, evenings, weekends, or online. Business and industry do not expand or hire new employees only in May or June each year. Yet most institutions of higher education operate on a nine-month school year with almost everyone graduating in May. We remained focused on your success and education, and continue to offer our students the opportunity to begin classes or to graduate four times a year with our flexible, year-round full-time schedule of classes. If you really want to attend a school where your needs (your real needs) come first, consider Sullivan University. I believe we can help you exceed your expectations. Since words cannot fully describe the atmosphere at Sullivan University, please accept my personal invitation to visit and experience our campus for yourself. Sincerely, Glenn D. ...CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION I. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY Pharmacies are very important business establishments in a community or city because this is where people buy drugs and other medical supplies needed especially for home medications, hospitals, or emergencies. Pharmacies are varying in demand anywhere that is why this can also be a good business idea. The main job of a pharmacy is to fill prescriptions made by doctors or other medical professionals. A pharmacist offers advice on medication and a pharmacy technician helps package the prescription. Today, added services are being offered by most pharmacies while some also have their own health and food convenience stores. Some medicines that can be bought from pharmacies don’t require prescription. Handling a business is not easy as one two three. An interested owner that deals with selling of pharmaceutical products need determination to operate business, the guts to get it going, the power to motivate his employees and the financial commitment to make it happen. You should also be competitive, a positive thinker and a goal minded person in order for you to make the business successful. One of the ways to be successful in business is to manage the cash properly and wisely. Cash management is a marketing term for certain services offered primarily to larger business customers. It may be used to describe all bank accounts (such as checking accounts) provided to businesses of a certain size, but it is more often used to describe...

...unto God, saying, ‘Master, I am thy slave. Thy hidden will is my law and I shall obey thee for ever more.’ But God made no answer, and like a mighty tempest passed away.” I also struggled in finding God in my life, it was difficult to see past the grime of poverty and suffering. The answer came in helping those in greater need than me. The scale and impact didn’t matter as much as a passion for humanitarianism. Goodness in action rather than in thought and began what would become a lifelong passion for community activism. I worked with refugees and displaced persons, volunteering for a government agency to provide them with daily necessities. After immigrating to America I found my calling in a local nonprofit organization whose mission statement reads “to help women in need regain their strength emotionally and financially for a stronger family”. The organization was a means for me to help others who had gone through the same emotional, financial, and cultural problems as they attempted to shape their lives in America. It wrought an inner peace and self-satisfaction in helping shape brighter lives with women I could strongly identify with. This inner peace led to an inner realization of God, only by the power of action inspired by an Islamic tradition which states “My slave keeps drawing nearer to Me with voluntary works until I love him. And when I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand...

...Mercer’s Mission Statement is congruent with mine. To be most effective, medical care must be patient-centered. My experiences as a paramedic and as a shadowing student have shown me that textbooks are excellent guides, but each patient must be assessed individually and holistically. To be an effective provider, one must possess and exercise critical thinking skills. Most people can read a protocol and follow instructions. However, often times patient presentations do not line up perfectly with classroom training; the provider needs to be alert, attentive, and agile in evaluating and preparing treatment plans. Some patients need more help than others in managing their health. This is an opportunity for PAs to take the lead in Coordination of Care. Follow through on this matter is of utmost importance to me, as I see firsthand how...
