When I completed my first photography portfolio it was one of my greatest achievements. To complete my first portfolio it took dedication where it sparked a personal growth and a new understanding of myself and others. When I created my first portfolio I had to put hard work and commitment in order to be able to finish my final product. I realized I loved taking pictures and I started to do a small photography business. I realized I never had my own photography portfolio, then I set my mind into completing one. This mass accumulation of photos creates a new perspective of the national park, and preservers the memory for the rest of existence. However, the mass growth of this nature “repository” leaves many memories forgotten, and images often get buried under piles and piles of cute dog photos and implicit memes. While memes were not an issue back in the 1940’s, the rapid expansion...

...The antecedents of design photography retreat to the eighteenth century, when pictures of popular garments were imprinted in magazines and frequently hand-hued. Paris was around then an inside for the generation of such magazines, a hefty portion of which were foreign into England. This photo demonstrates a commonplace case of such a picture. In the first place Fashion Photographer, Baron Adolphe de Meyer 1910 The primary design picture taker was most likely Baron Adolphe de Meyer who was enlisted by Conde Nast in 1913 to take trial pictures for Vogue. His fundamental trademark was an eminent utilization of backdrop illumination and the delicate center lens. Early design pictures were basically society photos of blue-bloods, performing artists and society models wearing their own garments. ...he wants to give a glimpse of the impoverished lifestyle of his subjects. While it is interesting to see the disparity between our culture and theirs, it’s also shocking to realize that people live like this every day. Although he denies it, Adams’ photographs are frequently seen as exploitive because they create a distorted image of society for his own personal gain. The photographs’ dismal qualities seem to display a lifestyle where the people look distraught amidst a culture of despair. Despite the controversial appearances of his photos, his finished works still make an impression on society, whether it’s a good or bad one. The photographs are professionally done, and they reveal his prowess as an artist and photographer. While the photography of Shelby Lee Adams is widely criticized for being exploitive of the Appalachian culture, it should be valued for its validity in the eyes of his subjects and artistic qualities. While Adams has been criticized for faking his camaraderie with the people of Appalachia in order to gain their trust, his link to the area cannot be disputed. He was born in Hazard, in eastern Kentucky and after moving around from place to place, he returned to Hot Spot, KY where he attended high school. He accredits his childhood experiences as the inspiration of his photographs. His statement, “When your blood’s connected, and you’re born and raised in a place, you’re always connected”, pretty much sums up the bond he feels with the Appalachian residents....

...photographer, picture-taking is an event in itself, and one with ever more peremptory rights – to interfere with, to invade, or to ignore whatever is going on” (Sontag, 11). Photography narrates the world. A simple photograph can freeze time, halt any moment you please. Photographers have a choice to choose between telling a narrative and expressing art. But when it comes down to it, no matter how complete or comprehensive a narrative appears it will always be the product of including some elements and excluding others based on what the creator wants to be viewed. Inclusion/exclusion is part of what construction is all about, but knowing what is best included or excluded requires an understanding of context. With narrative or art photography events are not found objects waiting to be discovered, they are created, whether by the photographer or the person within the photograph. If it is a live action, journalistic photograph, something led up to that moment in time, it was created. In photography, narrative is related to the idea of context, that is where the photographer comes in and adds their point of view and taste on a subject matter. Ralph Eugene Meatyard uses a narrative format to portray exactly what he wants to be seen in his photographs “Untitled” ca. 1960 and “Romance (N.) from Ambrose Bierce #3” from portfolio 3 ca. 1964. Susan Sontag’s ideas of Plato’s Cave and Allan Sekula’s idea of possible meaning; will relate to what Meatyard is depicting throughout his photographs. He...

...next evolutionary step for the company was one year later in 1885. This is when the first transparent photographic film came to market. With this groundbreaking and revolutionary product, EASTMAN Negative Paper opened a wholesale office in London England. The next few years were so good at EASTMAN Negative Paper that they were able to employ a full-time research scientist to help the company in the commercialization of a flexible, transparent film. A few years later in 1888 the name Kodak was born and they adopted and marketed the slogan “You press the button – we do the rest”. The next years for Kodak were filled with the growth of their film product and the cameras that used the film, while they developed many new products for the photography industry they always stayed true to their core business of producing film and cameras. That is until the digital camera killed the film industry. The History and Core Business of Fujifilm In 1934, Fuji Photo Film Co. ...run. In 2000 Black and Decker Corporation was still reeling from the financial and strategic problems stemming from the company's acquisition of Emhart Corporation in 1989. In late 1998 Black & Decker management celebrated the completion of an almost decade-long effort to divest nonstrategic business gained through its 1989 acquisition of Emhart Corporation and expected the company to enter a long-awaited period of growth as its entire management refocused its attention on its core power tools, plumbing, and security hardware business. Archibald believed that "This portfolio restructuring will allow us to focus on core operations that can deliver dependable and superior operating and financial results." However the portfolio restructuring did little to improve the market performance of the company's securities. Yet Archibald and the management continued to express confidence that the company's streamline portfolio would allow Black & Decker to achieve revenue and earnings growth that the market would find impressive. So far the 1998 divestitures have not produced steady increases in the company's stock price, but look promising for the future due to the efforts to refocus efforts on the successful power tools line. Strategic planning team evaluation Over the years, Black & Decker has branched off into many different directions in order to gain as much market share as possible. The diversification program in the 1980s produced mixed results for shareholders, and later...

...work and needs to plan accordingly. One main question that is always a difficult one to answer is how long one needs to work before they can comfortably stop working and rely on their financial portfolio to take care of expenses after work. In order to analyze these questions, a deterministic model of an investment portfolio was created and stochastic modeling was used to determine the likelihood of being able to accumulate the necessary finances over the desired period of time. Quantitative Analysis: 1. Using the given deterministic model, the annual outflows were estimated from the retirement portfolio over the retirement years and the estimated return on the account was also calculated. It was determined that under these basic assumptions of salary and portfolio growth rate the portfolio could expect to grow to $452,900 within thirty years. However, this assumed a fixed salary growth rate of 5% as well as a 4% annual investment rate. Given the high rate of inflation and the projected expenses after retirement, it was calculated that if this money was to last for the retirement, then even pulling out $50,000 per year in expenses would cause the account to run out after just a few years. 2. Adjusting the annual rate to 8% from 4% had a major effect. Although the portfolio fell short of the one million dollar goal by only reaching $853,633, this was a major effect as it allows the individual the ability to pull $100,000 each year from this account and still sustain...
