In the evaluation Phyllis C. Richman argues in, Hunan Dynasty, that The Hunan Dynasty is not a great restaurant, but it is a good neighborhood restaurant to have lunch on special occasions and also a good restaurant to just eat as a family for casual dinners after work. The author's purpose is to inform readers about The Hunan Dynasty's quality and give a valid explanation of what the Chinese restaurant is like. She gives a balance of both negative and positive views through out the evaluation of the restaurant.
