Should sex education be increased in schools in an attempt to curb problems such as teenage pregnancy and sexual transmitted diseases? The issue in the world today is that kids worldwide are getting pregnant or getting stds or maybe even both. Parents are asking what ways or programs that can prevent the kids from those problems. Teen pregnancy is happening throughout the United States. Seeing that sex education is not really taught at schools that makes most kids u aware of what they are doing sexually and the bad things that come with having sex such as being pregnant or catching a sexual transmitted disease or even catching Aids. Having sexual education being taught in schools will make the teen pregnancy and std and aids rate go down. Most teens who do not receive any type of sexual education are most likely to become pregnant or get a disease. Teen Pregnancy is a huge issue that affects many families in the United States. An average of one million teen girls in the United States gets pregnant. Majority of teen pregnancies are to low income or eve poor families. Most teen pregnancies are unplanned. Most teens that become pregnant do not get a college degree. It has been said that more than half of teen moms are going to have another child following their first one in less than a year. Most teens that get pregnant do not have an abortion because their parents are against abortion or their child because they want the relationship with their baby daddy to work out. Only a small percent of teen girls use and/or rely on condoms or other sources of contraceptives. That is a big problem with teens today. Teens not using condoms are most likely to get a disease along with getting pregnant. Through the years the schools have been teaching kids about awareness and safe sex. Lately, maybe

Diabetes and Pregancy

...Diabetes and Pregnancy HCS/245 Instructor September 10, 2012 Abstract Being pregnant is a very exciting time in a women’s life. The thoughts of bring a new life into the world can be exciting and scary at the same time. A woman can have diabetes before becoming pregnant and they can also develop diabetes during pregnancy, this called Gestational diabetes. In the past, women who were known to have diabetes were discouraged about becoming pregnant due to all the health problems for the mother and the health problems that a baby could develop before being born (WebMD, page 1). A few of the health problems for the mother would be: miscarriage, premature delivery, low blood glucose at delivery, eye problems, worsening kidney problems, and preeclampsia just to name a few. The health problems for the baby would be birth defects, prolonged jaundice, respiratory distress syndrome, and being born prematurely and all the problems that go along with being premature. Another common problem with babies of pregnant women with diabetes is that they have very large babies. This happens because the babies receive too much sugar from the mother and it turns to fat which in turn increases the size of the baby. This can make the baby to large to be delivered naturally and a cesarean delivery would then be necessary. As stated in WebMD, “once delivered, the baby could develop dangerously low blood sugar right after delivery because of high levels...

Teen Pregancy

...Teenage Pregnancy: Acceptance as Pop Culture Our society comprises of many gender niches and roles. Women are sisters, daughters, and most importantly mothers. Motherhood is one of the most cherished roles that a woman can take on. In the past, women were meant to be seen and not heard as their value depended on their ability to bear children and raise them thoughtfully. Even though that has changed and women are expected to gain an education and lead a career, motherhood can still be a main part of their life. However, motherhood does spring upon on some by surprise. Teenage pregnancy in the last few years have been on the rise and has become a problem for some to live up to that expectation of an education and career (Peck). In the past, teenage pregnancy was a taboo. However its discussion has become more widely accepted. The Candie’s Foundation is a philanthropic branch from the clothing line Candie’s. The clothes from the Candie’s brand are meant to appeal to teenage girls who dress girly and traditionally feminine. Focusing on the same demographic, the foundation was founded with the goal to raise awareness about teenage pregnancy in 2001, according to their website. The print ads from their current campaign mainly feature female celebrities such as Fergie, Hilary Duff, Ciara, Hayden...

...INDIA has a multi-ethnic, multi-religious society living together. India, with its diverse & fascinating history, arts, music, culture, spiritual & social models has become a matter of proud for all of us. Also it can become a superpower in future by working hard in many fields. We all know that India is a developing country, but still to become a developed one or to become a superpower, lot of work has to be done. First of all, our goal of superpower has to be unique and not just what other countries like USA did. We have to redefine what superpower actually means.         A superpower is a developed, self-reliant and a truly independent nation. It is a country with a dominant position in international issues and has the ability to exert its influence and project power on a global scale. India can become a superpower being like an elephant that neither eats other animals nor gets eaten by them. Similarly we should neither threaten nor defenceless.          It is known that India is a country that occupies greater part of South Asia. If we talk about area, India ranks as the seventh largest country in the world. Though India is the world's biggest democracy and has a strong political system, yet to become a superpower it is a bit away. We should strive to be a superpower in technology, education and ideas just as we did from the start...

Teen Pregnancy, Whose Problem Is It?

...Teen Pregnancy, Whose Problem is it? Name Ashford University Social Problems SOC 203 Gina Rollings March 11, 2013 . When a teenage girl becomes pregnant she faces many stresses during her pregnancy. Things like depression, shame, guilt, and fear set in (Meyerhoff, 2006). These things are difficult for adults to deal with let alone for a young girl who is pregnant. Fear of the future comes into play. These girls do not know what to do, what they are going to do, or where to start. Many of them feel as though they now have to put their lives on hold, change their goals, and learn how to juggle school and motherhood. Many teenage mothers also face depression, both before and after the baby are born; interactions with a depressed mother can make children more susceptible to mental health problems. Many teenagers have limited or no support and some get thrown out of their parent’s homes with nowhere to go. The teenage mother can become very shameful and try to hide the fact that she is pregnant. During the first 3 months of pregnancy; seven out of ten teenage girls do not get prenatal care, see a doctor, or go to a clinic (Taylor, 2010, 11, 12). They are at a greater risk of getting anemia, high blood pressure, placental problems, and pregnancy induced hypertension. The mother (the teen) is not the only one who faces stresses. The baby itself can experience difficulties as well. Things like low birth weights...
