...Here is a worked example and process for constructing a network diagram: Using this example: Activity Duration (days) Predecessor(s) A 5 --- B 2 --- C 4 A D 6 B E 3 C, D F 1 D Follow this sequence: 1. Construct the Network diagram. 2. Check the network diagram. 3. Add durations to the activities. 4. Identify all paths through the network. 5. Identify the critical path (CP) and scheduled duration. 6. Calculate slack times (float) for each activity. 1. Construct the Network diagram. Using the AIB method: Draw a box on the left labeled "Start" Add boxes to the right of this box for activities with no predecessors, in the example A, and B. Connect these boxes to the box labeled start, but not to each other! I always start with box A at the top, and others in sequence underneath, vertically. Add arrows to the end of the lines where they connect to the activity (A and B) boxes. (This is important for step 4). Draw a box to the right of activity A for any activities which list A as a predecessor. (C in our example). Connect this box to activity A, don't forget the arrow! Draw a box to the right of activity B for any activities which list B as a predecessor. (D in our example). Connect this box to activity B, don't...

...justification. Estimating a project budget includes cost estimates for each activity in the WBS with specific assumptions made during the estimating process, as well as quantities, unit prices, hourly rates for tasks, and accumulated totals. You must justify all of your costs; this includes direct, indirect, variable, fixed, and overhead. It is ok if these are all included in burdened labor rates. This WBS must be created in MS Project using the automatic scheduling feature, indenting to produce subtasks, and allowing the software to create the WBS numbers. Numbers inserted in the file because they look right is not correct. You should include the internal resources in your project plan with a cost assigned to them. As you may remember from PROJ586 and will see later this information is necessary to use earned value to track the project. This may not be an additional cost to your company but it is a cost of doing the project. You must use a project estimating process. A functional estimate is based upon types of purchases and expenditures, and general labor for the time the entire project was in progress. If this is the way you estimate the cost of your project it is a functional budget estimate and you will not get credit for it. The CP-2 Project Proposal will be structured with the following sections. Cover page including assignment, project title, course, and student contact information Executive summary summarizing the content from the entire document with quantifiable...

...Can Do Academy Week 3: Project Schedule and Resource Allocation Analysis Crystal DeBose-Walker DeVry University / Keller Graduate School of Management PROJ586 - Project Management Systems November 21, 2015 Schedule Analysis Work breakdown structure The main project objective is to open a successful fully certified child enrichment center where activities such as the construction, furnishing, and setting up of the business venture should be done within two months. . Therefore, a necessary and predetermined work breakdown structure (WBS) is a prerequisite to ensure the success of the project (Gido and Clements, 2009). Essentially, the project calls for a well-structured working schedule that will give guidelines on how to complete the project in the timeframe provided Task name | Budget cost | Event | Duration | Start | finish | Capital cost exercise | 300000 | | 1 day | 25-october | N/A | Capital budget | 200000 | 0 | | N/A | N/A | Expense budget | 100000 | 0 | | N/A | N/A | Obtain licenses | | | 1 day | 25-october | N/A | Make business plan | | | 2 days | 26-october | 27-october | Create buzz | | | 3 days | 28-0ctober | 30-October | Find location | | | 2 days | 31-october | 1-november | Research and obtain contractor | | | 2 days | 2-november | 3-november | Pre-fire inspection | | 0 | 1 day | 4-november | N/A | Contractor plan and approval | | 0 | 3 days | 5-November | 7-november | Completion of zoning review...

...Overview A student project is required in PROJ586 and is to be completed on an individual basis. Use of Microsoft Project software is required. The project will consist of the Huntsville plant construction effort, the details of which are in the "project tabs" in the course shell for each week's assignment This course project assignment follows the Huntsville project from a Project Charter (where the effort is initially approved), through the Project Scope Statement (where the scope is elaborated in more detail), through the WBS (where the major tasks and sub-tasks are documented), and finally to a completed project schedule in Microsoft Project, with resources and costs added in. Along the way we also complete a Risk Plan and a Communications Plan for the Huntsville project, and deal with scheduling and resource issues, all normal and customary actives in most project environments. However all a bit mysterious to the uninitiated! So I'm going to try and walk you through all of that with these Part-1 through Part-5 instruction documents. Please do listen to the Course Project Tour Video (in the Course Home/Course Project tab). It lays out in summary all the deliverables for the Course Project. Since the effort is worth 25% of your grade, you really need to understand what we are asking for and when all the pieces are due! As you complete this course project effort, remember; think of this as a set of business communications as well as a class assignment. In part this...

...Welcome to Week 1! Project Scope Definition and WBS In this course, we will explore project cost and schedule control! The focus of this week is developing the scope and the work breakdown structure (WBS). We will use the WBS to specifically detail the tasks required to complete any project. The scope is the starting document of a project. It defines the project. The WBS is created from the scope and is the basis on which several other project documents, such as the budget and schedule, will be derived from. Because the WBS is one of the foundations to our planning effort, it is critical to know and understand this tool. Shortcomings in the scope or WBS will translate to the rest of our planning documents resulting in real failures during project execution to attain goals in scope, cost, and schedule. It is, therefore, of primary importance that the scope and WBS are inclusive and detailed. Just remember that as a project manager, your family comes first but the project scope and WBS are not far behind. Introduction Cost and schedule form two sides of the iron triangle of project management with the third side being the collection of scope, quality, and performance. This makes cost and schedule paramount concerns to a project manager. Cost and schedule control on a project are vital to a successful project. As you know, this course is named Project Schedule and Cost Control, which may imply that the project is underway and it's time to go to work. However, the process...
