Pros And Cons Of Ex-Convicts

Submitted By

Throughout time ex convicts have faced various problems, such as adapting to the new world. These individuals would struggle adapting to the new world because their criminal record limits their chances for better opportunities. For example, job seekers with criminal records would be less likely to get a job due to their past conviction record being looked upon so harshly. This is a form of discrimination which would prevent the ex convicts from progressing their life. This is true due to that fact that Frederick G. Giles stated “ each work environment is different and if one employer has a serious workplace issue related to a specific offence type,...that employer may...avoid those ex offenders”. This quote means that a serious employer that

Debate

...is still rising at a disrupting rate. The question that we need to ask ourselves is if the people that get out of prison deserve a second chance at a normal life. Everyone has a different opinion on this topic. Some people will agree that once a person serves time for the crime that they committed then they deserve a chance to start over. While others think that those who committed a crime should have thought about their actions before they did the things that they did. This paper will not just go over to the pros of why inmates deserve a second chance but the cons as well, in hopes that whoever reads this paper will make their own judgments based on all the information and not just part of the evidence. There are many pros for why a criminal deserves a second chance at life. For instance, many criminals have families that are in need of their assistance, financially, physically, and emotionally. There are also just as many cons to contradict all of those pros. A con would be that is statically proven that people are more likely to repeat their offenses. In the end many believe that God should have the final say when it comes to judgment and that flawed human beings should have the inability to decide the fate of another human being. Background Checks

...Abstract This paper will define the topic definition and will indicate a couple of scenarios and cases that relate to this topic. It will indicate what goes into a background check and what the pros and cons are. I will inform my readers what I learned and the conclusion of my paper. Topic I just went in for an interview at a prestigious company that I have been dreaming of working at for many years and they said the job is mine if everything clears with my background check. Background check? As I walk out of the building I cannot help but wonder what they might find that may be detrimental to my opportunity to get this job. Questions start flying through my mind as my heart begins to race. What might they find from my past jobs? What are they trying to find? Who will they talk to? I have never stolen anything from my past jobs, embezzled or any of that sort. Or, do they not have limitations on how far back they will look. Will they find out I stole that one pack of bubble gum when I was 6 years old or when I was an accessory to changing price tags on bed sheets at Ross? Will they find out I worked at that company and did not put that on my resume as I only worked there for only a month? Should I go back in and confess all my wrong doings? Or, am I just overreacting? As I’m getting into my car I decided that I was being irrational and should just wait until I get a call back from the company. All I can really do is just wait, or do some amateur...

The company argues that it is the right for all people to have access to information, and the act is ethical. However, French government has argued otherwise. They said Google must stop form disclosing all information it requested and respect the privacy of a person. In other word anyone has a right to ask Google not to display results about him/herself and Google must act accordingly. What is pros and cons of Google current status-quo? When searching online there’s an unwritten assumption that will get an instant answer, as well as additional information that will need to dig deeper. This is all possible because of two decades’ worth of investment and innovation by many different companies. We know that, Google as the leading search engine in the world provides information requested by users without any censorship but when the French government makes that policy. Google has lost the status quo where Google can provide information to its data widely without restriction. This condition causes the information sought to be limited. Pros and Cons of Privitazation of Prisons

..."Pros And Cons Of Prison Privatization" Prisons are institutions that have specifically been designed to handle the members of the society who are under conviction of different crimes. The people who reside in the prisons are referred to as inmates or prisoners and the time they spend in the prisons depends on the imprisonment period. This period is dependent of the intensity of the crime committed. Once in the prisons, the inmates undergo rehabilitation, incapacitation, retribution and deterrence which are elements considered appropriate for the provision of justice to the society. In the past, it has been the responsibility of the government to manage these institutions on behalf of the society. The process of privatizing the prison industry has both negative and positive effects. Sloane, 1996). Privatization has been applied in prison departments in most countries across the globe, there are few countries who used it in the past. For example during the mid 18th century, the United States government entered into a treaty with a number of private investors to manage a number of its institutions and these investors went ahead to contract inmates to some of their private enterprises as a source of labor. Some of the institutions that were contracted included 'New York Auburn and Louisiana' penal colonies. However, this did not last for long based on the fact that there was rampant corruption that was carried out as well as vicious resistance from other...

Apology

...Apology Plato Published: -400 Categorie(s): Non-Fiction, Philosophy Source: http://en.wikisource.org 1 About Plato: Plato (Greek: Plátōn, "wide, broad-shouldered") (428/427 BC – 348/ 347 BC) was an ancient Greek philosopher, the second of the great trio of ancient Greeks –Socrates, Plato, originally named Aristocles, and Aris- totle– who between them laid the philosophical foundations of Western culture. Plato was also a mathematician, writer of philosophical dia- logues, and founder of the Academy in Athens, the first institution of higher learning in the western world. Plato is widely believed to have been a student of Socrates and to have been deeply influenced by his teacher's unjust death. Plato's brilliance as a writer and thinker can be witnessed by reading his Socratic dialogues. Some of the dialogues, let- ters, and other works that are ascribed to him are considered spurious. Plato is thought to have lectured at the Academy, although the pedago- gical function of his dialogues, if any, is not known with certainty. They have historically been used to teach philosophy, logic, rhetoric, mathem- atics, and other subjects about which he wrote. Death Penalty

...Abstract This paper examines whether or not the Death Penalty is a deterrent to crime in general and more specific, it examines if the Death Penalty is a deterrent to the murder of Police Officers in the line of duty. It explores the history of the death penalty as our country moves through different periods in its history. Comparisons were made of regions throughout the country as to how the death penalty impacts crime in general and whether the fact that having the death penalty makes Police Officers safer with potential Cop killers knowing that the death penalty awaits them should they kill an Officer. This paper was compiled mainly by researching online periodicals, newspapers and books. This is a topic that evokes strong feelings, pro and con. These feelings and responses to certain crimes provide a virtual emotional roller coaster ride depending on circumstances. The killings of two Detroit Police Officers earlier this year proved to be no different. 3 Table of Contents Abstract ………..……………………………………………………………………..2 Table of Contents………………………………………………………………….....3 Introduction…………………………………………………………………………..4 Background and Significance…………………………………………………….....5 Michigan Connection………………………………………………………………...8 Literature Review…………………………………………………………………..12 Results/Summary.......................................................................................................25 Cited Works………………………………………………………………………...29 4 Introduction Capital punishment is the imposition...

Grammar

...GLOSSARY OF COMMON GRAMMATICAL AND WRITING TERMS Grammar terminology is useful when we describe and correct problems with writing. Though we’ve tried to de-emphasize terminology and teach through examples throughout this book, sometimes you need a definition. We’ve tried to emphasize areas that are both commonly used and commonly misunderstood, such as the use of modal auxiliaries like can, could, shall, should, etc. Punctuation marks are not included in this list; they have a separate section in this Appendix. “People who are experts in grammar don’t always write well, and many people who write well no longer think consciously about grammar … but when something goes wrong in a sentence, a knowledge of grammar helps in recognizing the problem and provides a language for discussing it.” — H. ...FROM GREAT TO GHASTLY: HOW TOXIC ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURES POISON COMPANIES THE RISE AND FALL OF ENRON, WORLDCOM, HEALTHSOUTH, AND TYCO INTERNATIONAL David R. Lease, Norwich University Abstract This paper presents an analytical and comparative study of four recent corporate scandals involving organizations that had previously been recognized as both ethically and organizationally sound. Based on these case studies, the following issues are discussed: (1) The role of leader behavior and organizational/leadership styles in shaping the corporate organizational culture of an organization, and (2) The extent to which this culture renders the organization and its members (including the top executives) prone to ethical misbehavior. The four companies selected for this case analysis are: Enron Corporation, WorldCom, Inc., Tyco International, Ltd., and HealthSouth Corporation. Each case is considered individually. The basic elements in the scandal are outlined and the principal aspects of each organization’s corporate culture discussed, with special emphasis on the influence of leadership styles and leadership behavior/practices on organizational culture. The four cases are then compared and contrasted in the light of the existing evidence on the relation between corporate culture and ethical misbehavior. PRELUDE “We were doing something special. Magical. It wasn’t a job – it was a mission. We were changing the world. We were doing God’s work.” – Jeffrey Skilling, former Enron COO, President...
