For those who have nowhere else to turn, the gang life may seem like a great escape, but is a terrible route to take. Now, there are many reasons for one to turn towards the gang-life, but a very common one is that they feel like there is nowhere else to go. For younger people, they may not be doing well in school, making them think they have no hope of having a good life. Their family situation could be even worse, making them think they have absolutely nowhere else to turn but to a gang. There is also the possibility they were born into the gangs, or near enough to them to be forced in. For those, the gang life is all they know.
