She soared over the hills, her fur gently rustled from the night's air. She looked down at the beautiful land beneath her, her blue eyes scanning. She moved effortlessly, through the air with both gracefulness and speed. Her blues and greens of her coat blended in with the dark night, and the twinkling stars above. She continued the flight, her attention now focusing on the vast array of stars that lit up the night with their friendly beauty. She wondered what they truly represented, what they meant. She wondered if on other planets they viewed the same stars.. or if it was an entirely different view. Her heart thudded softly against her chest, she was at peace. She was calm and serene. She was the very essence of a star herself, though she did not know that.
Her yellow nose glowed, she was almost like a Rudolph reindeer, flying through the air with her glowing nose and ability to fly without any wings. But unlike the reindeer, Luna was on a mission, not delivering presents. She wanted to star-gaze, from a perfect spot, on a perfect hill. Miles and miles away from any city, house, or even creature. She wanted to be alone, and take in the true beauty of the sky. She wasn't a true astrologer by any means. But she had a general idea of the constellations and even the zodiac signs that were much associated with them. While she wasn't a professional, she considered this to be very important to her. It was her namesake. It was her destiny.
There! She spotted it, flying down until the land touched her soft paw pads. She was here. She sighed. The perfect spot, away from life itself. A giant oak tree loomed over her, atop a large hill that looked over much of the land, and raised high as if it were touching the sky itself. She sat, looking up at the stars, the brightness of them illuminating the sky. She felt truly happy, as if this were the perfect life for her. She didn't ask for much.. if not anything. She lived her life alone, and she was content with that. She had believed if she was destined to have a mate, he would find her. And none had ever even wagged a tail in her direction. And she wasn't hurt, or mad. She simply told herself that it was meant to be that way. All of a sudden, she felt a presence. Who..? This place, she made sure, was far far away from every place anyone could live.
A creamy voice erupted through her thoughts. "Your in my spot." He said, and she turned around to meet him. There was an instant spark. She looked into his ice blue eyes and her heart quickened, thudding against her chest rapidly. She lost her words, she only stared with her mouth partially open. "I,m sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. It's just.. I have come here for years to star-gaze... If you'd like to join me though...?" He left his question linger in the crisp cool night air. She finally regained her composure, sitting up and shaking her head. "Wow.. I'm surprised anyone comes out this far.. I flew- err.. came here all this way to be alone." She stated, and as he began to respond she quickly added "But.. I'd love to join you. I was getting a bit lonely." Though she lied about being lonely, she felt a connection with this male unlike any other.
They talked, introducing themselves, and sharing their love of stars. They laughed, telling jokes, stories and recalling experiences in their life. They cried, remembering memories, lost family, broken promises, and dreams left unfulfilled. They realized, hours into the night that this.. this was life. Remembering the good, the bad, even the painful memories. And having someone who truly relates and understands you- to share those memories with. They slept, curled up next to each other. Hopes for a future together loomed in their dreams, hoping to wake up and the other still be by their side. The sun rose, oranges and yellows cast light throughout the land. Luna stretched, opening her eyes to see the male who had made her night so memorable. Moonglow. His name was a perfect match for hers. She watched him as he slept, realizing as the sun came up and shown on their celestial coats.. that she loved him.
Several months later after Moonglow had found Luna, they had realized that Luna was carrying their puppies. They were both excited, happy, and very nervous. Moonglow catered to Luna's every needs. Making sure she was full, warm, and happy. If she woke up throughout the night, he would wake up and stay up with her until she was comfortable enough to sleep. The weeks went on and her stomach grew, and grew. Although she wasn't the smallest pregnant female, her belly pouch wasn't quite as large. Which put her mind at ease. She was so nervous and scared.. how would she raise these pups? How would she teach them? How would she even be able to bring them into this world? But when she looked at her mate, she realized everything would be okay. And it was. And her heart was content as they counted down the days until Luna would give birth to their puppies.
