He was introduced to reading at a young age by his mother who was able to spend a good amount of time with her children due to the fact that she was a homemaker. He fell in love with reading. "When I was a kid, there were these great comic books called Tales from the Crypt and The Vault of Horror," he says. "They were gruesome. I discovered them in the barbershop and thought they were fabulous. I used to get a haircut every Saturday so I wouldn't miss any of these comic books. I had no hair at all when I was a kid!" The first book he ever wrote was called The Giggle Book, which he wrote when he was nine years old. In the sixth grade, Stine decided he wanted to be a writer after finding an old type writer in his parents attack. He began to write stories and joke books in high school and would take them to school and hand them out to his class mates. He liked the reaction of the other students when they read his work and, of course, the added attention he was getting didn’t hurt either. This set off a chain reaction and Stine has been writing ever since. After high school, Stine attended Ohio State University. In 1965, he graduated with a Batchlor of Arts degree in education and began teaching social studies at a New York high school. On June 22, 1969, he married his wife Jane and their son, Matt Daniel Stine, was born on June 7, 1980. During...

...always had to be right. Everything was black and white, either or. Those thinking patterns began to change when I decided to change about five years ago. I am more open minded, active, and skeptical. Before this assignment, I did not realize the extent of how much my thinking has changed. However, I know there is more to learn for me to be a critical thinker. I would like to say to say I read tons of books, and I prefer reading to anything else. Unfortunately, that is not the truth. Maybe that is because I had never been told to read outside of school, so it never became a routine. The majority of the books I have read are fictional thrillers, which I did enjoy. When I did have to read as a kid, I read all of the Goosebumps books by R.L. Stine. When the Twilight series came out, I am embarrassed to say, I did read all of them. In my experience, if I start a book that interests me, I will not occupy my time with any else until I have finished it. The problem for me is getting the motivation to start one. I am hoping now that I have started school after 15 years that will change. I look forward to it. Based on my reading history, it is difficult for me to say what my favorite book is. If I...

...wanted on paper for people to read. It was then I realized I had a passion for books and writing. To emphasize, growing up I loved every type of book, especially the ones that challenged me. I liked books with pictures, but I preferred books with no pictures. With me constantly reading, I always had two or three books checked out from the library. My first favorite books were Junie B. Jones book. I could never put those books down. Every time my school received the magazines to order books with the school, I was the girl always buying the Junie B. Jones book set. At one point I had every book, and I had read every single one of them. I had to find a different series to begin. As I began my journey to find the book for me, I stumbled along R.L. Stine books. I fell in love all over again. I did not go to the point of buying the series, but I sure did have one checked out every couple of days. When it comes to writing, I have no problem writing you an essay. I get to put my thoughts, opinions, and feelings on paper. I really enjoy writing narrative papers. Being able to write about myself, or things I adore makes me feel content. Do not get me wrong, I do not mind writing about topics I do not specifically admire, because I am still being able to write, but I do better with certain topics. When I was introduced to essays, I was one of the few in my class that loved writing. I was taught at a young age how to read and write, which I believe made me enjoy reading and writing. This past...
