Communication and collaboration are both essential elements in an organization’s strategic objectives, daily functionalities, and their ability to gain a competitive advantage. Kudler Fine Foods’ ability to communicate closely together as well as collaborate in their operative functions are impressive; however, an action plan that focuses on improving communication, along with lateral and vertical collaboration within Kudler’s employees would prove to be beneficial to the success of the company. Benefits that Kudler could obtain are the elimination of errors or mistakes that occur because of the lack of communication between Kudler’s Administrative departments, store managers, department managers, and hourly employees; an increase in response time; more effective inventory control; a greater satisfaction among Kudler’s employees and customers.
As stated, lateral and vertical collaboration are forms of communication and collaboration that can help Kudler Fine Foods improve their communication efforts, which in turn will improve their company as a whole. Communication and information sharing between all levels of a company’s hierarchy is called lateral collaboration. Kudler Fine Food’s intranet technology allows store mangers and department managers, along with all of the administrative department staff the ability to view all of the company’s operational information that helps in making strategic or even routine daily decisions regarding the business. ...Chapter 1 The twins Madame Benetton wore a suit blouse and her long straight hair was loosened on her shoulder. She had dyed her hair into yellowish-brown to cover her growing graying brown hair. She walked up the stairs to reach her children. She walked into her daughter’s room. Her room was a square studio size with purple-painted wall. A white plastic table with a laptop in a sleeping mood was sat in front of the window. There were tons of books stacked beside her laptop with a book opened on the middle of the desk. There was a purple book rack beside her bed stuffed with neatly arranged of different kinds of book, like Oxford English Dictionary, encyclopedia, non-fiction and fiction books, etc. While her purple and white wardrobe is beside the entrance to her bathroom. There were lots of quotes pasted on the wall. “She must be slept late yesterday.” Madame Benetton thought. She walked to the window and pulled aside the purple velvet curtain. The sunlight was beaming into the room. The dimly lit room had suddenly brightened up. Collins’s eyes were hurt. She pulled her purple, cotton-like blanket to cover her head. She was totally unaffected and continued her dream with a slightly snoring sound. “Sweetums, it’s time to wake!’Madame Benetton said. “Come on! Get up! Quickly! You’ll be late for school!’ Collins suddenly sat bolt upright with her eyes wide opened when she heard SCHOOL. She got up and headed to bathroom. ‘I already ironed your school uniform. I already hung...

Retailing-Nordstroms

...Nordstrom Market Selection 1.) I feel Nordstrom’s is opening more Nordstrom Rack stores, as they trying to target customers who are middle class and may not have a very strong cash flow. They may be customers that would shop at Nordstrom and spend money on the name brands in the store, but they do not have the money so they shop at the Rack. This may help move customers to shopping Nordstrom’s, if their financial situation improves. I feel with the economy in the past 10 years there are thriftier shoppers and the majority of people are probably middle class or lower. These people are able to afford items at the Rack and save money. I personally will go into Nordstrom to check out the more specialty items and to be shocked to look at the clothing prices. However, I am more likely to buy clothes from the Rack, but I still find some of the Rack prices to be high. 2.) It appears Nordstrom’s market expansion strategy is producing positive results. The annual sales have increased, however profit seemed to decline. That may be expected when putting money into expanding stores and opening in new territories. For a while I feel business may have to lose a little money to before the profits start coming in. By now the profits may have already started in as the research is from 2011. It appears inventory is turning over and more discounted stores are opening. Also they did open more stores from 2008 to 2011. This may have helped them to get in better business districts...

Rack of a Shotgun

...The Rack of a Shotgun in the Night In the clear early Saturday morning around 4:30 am, I completed my shift on a part time detail at a popular hip-hop night club that I worked for off duty along with two additional officers. The club serves alcohol to the 21 year old and over crowd. The capacity level is reach quite frequently every Saturday night. The potential party goers who can not gain entry try to hangout in the parking lot of the club. The club owner employed several off duty police officers with myself included to deter in crime or incidents on the property after the club is closed at 4:00 am. My job was to ensure that no loitered in the dimly lighted parking lot of the club. I would walk the parking area in my full department issued uniform to give the show of officer presence to hinder any crime that could potentially take place. I checked to ensure there were no disputes physical or verbal in the parking area. A clear presence disrupted any vehicle theft or vandalism too. I walked the parking area and gave verbal instructions to individuals who sat in or just stood by vehicles to make entry to the establishment or depart the property. A combination of alcohol and poor judgement has been a factor with people who did not follow instructions in the parking area. At 4:00 am, one of the security guards for the club opened the front door and I could hear the DJ say that the club was closed. The loud music had stopped and people began to exit the club to the parking...

Electricity Generation from Speed Breakers

...energy in one of the forms. But in this fast moving world, population is increasing day by day and the conventional energy sources are lessening. The extensive usage of energy has resulted in an energy crisis over the few years. Therefore to overcome this problem we need to implement the techniques of optimal utilization of conventional sources for conservation of energy. My paper includes how to utilize the energy which is wasted when the vehicles passes over a speed breaker. Lots of energy is generated when vehicle passes over it. We can tap the energy generated and produce power by using the speed breaker as power generating unit. The kinetic energy of the moving vehicles can be converted into mechanical energy of the shaft through rack and pinion mechanism. Then, this mechanical energy will be converted to electrical energy using generator which will be saved with the use of a battery. The energy we save during the day light can be used in the night time for lighting street lights. Therefore, by using this arrangement we can save lot of energy which can be used for the fulfillment of future demands Keywords - Electromotive force, Generator, Non-conventional energy, Speed breaker....

Changing Gear Ratios

... Today in the modern world, gears are used in everyday activities, from cars to washing machines. There are various types of gears such as spur, internal, helical, skew, bevel, etc. Each of these gears has a different purpose, such as bevel gears are used to change the rotational motion to a different axis. Spur gears are used to this effect in washing machines, blenders, clothes dryers, construction equipment, fuel pumps, and mills. Lower gear ratios in the transmission and the back of the car allow for faster speed, but slower acceleration. Higher gear ratios in the transmission and the back of the car allow for slower faster speed but faster acceleration (Yoshino, 2014). Changing the gear ratio would affect how fast a car would go in with each ratio. The gear ratio of a gear train, also known as its speed ratio, is the ratio of the angular velocity of the input gear to the angular velocity of the output gear. The torque ratio of a gear system is also known as mechanical advantage, this is determined by its gear ratio. Gears are used in plenty of mechanical devices. They do numerous important jobs, but mainly important, they provide a gear reduction in motorized equipment. The purpose of the experiment was, there are several areas of the use of gears that still have not been discovered. Conducting research on gears can help make household items more efficient and effective. Making a job easier and more effective with less energy would change peoples' lives. In the future...

Lease vs Purchase

...SUMMARY The company needs to upgrade its computer equipment. There are two upgrade paths to consider. In this proposal, we demonstrate how equipment leases take advantage of the benefits of reduced depreciation and taxation, easy scalability, reduction of IT staff usage, reduced energy costs, and reduction of capital spending. The company can free up money overall and maintain better control of the IT budget by leasing. The cost of equipment is spread out over a 3-year period by leasing. There are no disposal fees because the leasing company will be responsible for the equipment leased. By replacing the current sever setup ( the company has over a dozen machines running 24 hours every day), with new leased IBM compact server, we will cut power costs by up to 50%.   CONTENTS Summary 2 Introduction 4 Discussion 4 Requirements Scope and Background 4 requirements to be achieved: 4 several leasing and finance companies with the best solutions for the company 4 Salary Expense Before Leasing fig 1 5 Salary Expense After Leasing fig 2 5 Leasing and Financing Programs 7 Leasing and Financing fig3 7 benefits of hiring a leasing company: 8 Conclusion 9 Bibliography 10 Appendix A 11   INTRODUCTION This report explores the methods other companies use to conserve working capital. Marhsalls and Nordrtrom Rack Comparison

...Based on our interview with Kirsten, Marshalls seem to have an open door policy. Employees are encouraged to communicate their ideas or concerns to whomever they feel comfortable within the management level. The leadership seems open to feedback and willing to help employees create a comfortable and positive working environment. This is a good approach because if employees feel that they and their ideas matter to Marshalls, it will increase their job satisfaction and positively affect their citizenship behavior. Kristen also told us that “employees can make a lot of decisions” on their own. Showing employees that the company trusts them enough to make their own decisions is another factor that is likely to affect citizenship behavior and job performance positively. During our interview with Kirsten, we also learned that at Marshalls there aren’t many team or individual bonuses, especially for the associates level. Even though, Marshalls tries to motivate employees by promoting from within (generally) it appears that there aren’t many financial incentives to keep employees motivated and driven. They do, however, offer full time employees benefits such as health insurance, 401k plans and paid vacation. Kristen told us that when hiring new retail associates management is looking for “somebody who is punctual, somebody who is organized... has got customer service skills, somebody that is friendly and wants to work with public.” Being punctual and organized are aspects of...

In this video, what I’m going to do is I’m going to go over a copy-and-paste campaign that has made me tens of thousands of dollars this year 2012. It’s in a niche that I was not very familiar with – fashion. I’m sure everyone watching this video right now, you’ve seen all sorts of these daily deal sites like Groupon and LivingSocial, etc. coming out. One big thing is daily deal fashion sites. This site, BeyondTheRack.com, is a daily deal fashion site. When I send people to this website right here through my own ads on any social network – PlentyofFish, Facebook, Pinterest or whatever – and they fill out a couple of fields and hit SEE TODAY’S DEALS, boom! I get paid around $3.60 every time that happens. Our goal in this copy paste tutorial is to show you how to target this site to bulls’ eye targeted customers on Facebook and other social networks so you can start generating customers and getting paid however much the CPA, the payout for the offer is. Keep in mind that you can also take everything we do in this video and you can use this same formula to market other fashion websites.
