When it comes to the types of rater bias in performance evaluations there are leniency, halo/horn, central tendency, fundamental attribution,/actor-observer, and similar to me bias. I found this week reading very interesting because I can apply it to my organization in so many ways. Leniency is when one feels sorry for a person and they are rated based on sympathy. The halo/horn is when one rates an employee based on either one good thing or one bad thing regardless of other factors. Next, there is the central tendency and this is when a manger places everyone on an average when they are rated no matter the level of performance.
