...Through Advancement of Programming SONA 2014 highlights the achievements of the government on education, social services, economy, improvement, infrastructure, calamity efforts, jobs and security sector of the country. President Aquino bragged a lot of accomplishments this year. One of them is the P1.6 billion fund that was given to Training-for-Work Scholarship Program of TESDA. In my opinion, it can still be improved and a lot of people will benefit from it using the current innovation called programming. In our class, advanced programming, we will learn on how to develop database-oriented websites and programs which I think will help in the recent scholarship program. By developing a website that can record and track the scholars of the said program it can tell whether the benefits are really helping the person or not. In my personal experience, I learned that some people don’t deserve the scholarship they got and I met a lot of people who really need it. This website can also help the government on avoiding waste in funds. It is common that every SONA, the President always make promises. President Aquino promises these solutions: * Open alternative roads to EDSA Advanced Programming can help in this area by providing a clear and informative website that displays the new alternative routes that will be opened. It should be shown on the LCD along the roads for the convenience of drivers. * Opening of the Palawan Busuanga Airport By also creating an instructive...

...D, Equiano specifically refers to the slave traders’ “improvident avarice” Puritan Plain Style writing: “I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold” contains short words and a direct speaking style. Instead of a Sermon… The sermon would seem to be the most effective way to present this speech, because, since Edwards was a preacher, his congregants had to respectfully listen to him while he was in his pulpit. Also, a sermon allows the speaker to create a tone or use gestures. Compare the treatment Equiano receives… Equiano is treated very harsh in Africa but when he was taken away by the widow’s family, he was treated with respect and as a member of the family. When he’s on the ship, he is treated in a very inhumane way. He’s treated as an animal and not as a human being. Slave Narratives were valuable tools… Equiano's narrative would have been very helpful in the fight to abolish slavery. It would be very helpful for the people who were working to abolish slavery because they would show the harsh conditions the slaves were in. The beatings, starvation, and disease were the major harsh conditions they were in. C, To make the general public.. C, because answers a, b, and d are not supported by the text. ...Study Method A. Kent Van Cleave, Jr., Ph.D. Why use a study method? Perhaps you have noticed recently that everyone, especially in the news media, is talking about something called the information revolution. This term refers to some profound changes that have affected most aspects of our lives and that have been caused by computers. In the workplace, information technology has caused many work organizations to completely restructure themselves. Electronic data interchange has helped companies closely link themselves with their customers and their suppliers. Computers have made mass production obsolete by giving manufacturers the ability to customize the product exactly the way the individual customer wants it. (Look for the big auto manufacturers to have Websites soon where you choose nearly every feature on your car, apply for a loan to buy it, and then specify where it will be delivered, all without having to go to the showroom.) Computers have also automated many jobs, including those of many middle managers. The result of this has been fewer levels of management in large organizations and higher productivity in the production facility. For most products, the cost of the goods on store shelves has dropped dramatically over the last ten years. But this explosion of information technology has its challenges in the workplace, too. Because of it the pace of change has increased. Work organizations find that they must continually adapt as technology progresses. And...

...How to write a Literature Review: Step 1: Read a lot. Sounds simplistic, but the fact is that you do have to read a lot, and read with care and purpose. There are things that you can do within the process to make your life easier, and the purpose of this short document is to point some of them out. Hopefully, this will help. However, there is no substitute for good, thorough, and hard work. When you start your reading, start broadly. If you have an area you are interested in, such as computers in education, multi-media, distance education, web-based instruction, or some other specific concentration, start your reading in those areas. Course assigned reading will help, but you will have to branch outwards and inwards. Don’t be afraid to follow an area that seems not to be related to your area. You are trying to define your interests. Allow yourself the freedom to do that. Here are some tips on how you might branch out, and/or focus in: A. Look carefully at the references. Should the author raise a salient point that interests you and they happen to cite somebody, look up the citation and read the original source. The original source will have its own references, follow these. Repeat as necessary. B. Read from tangentially related fields. Don’t be afraid to look outside of the literature in IT to other areas. Educational Psychology, Human Resources, Computer Science, and Communications Studies are but a few of the related fields with important information...

...When it comes it the topic of the Shakespeare's most famous character Hamlet, most of us readily agree that he is brilliant. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of his meditation. While some people are convinced that he is an over thinker, others maintain that his thoughts are purposeful and brilliant. Multiple times throughout the play you see Hamlet over-thinking something he is about to do. Questioning himself on whether he is right or wrong, or if this is the right time to do this. It is in his nature to over think things because of his want to be right on all accounts. For example, when Claudius goes to the confess murdering his brother, Hamlet is there waiting for him. This moment would be the perfect opportunity to kill Claudius, for he is focusing on praying and doesn't notice Hamlet is in the room. However, Hamlet stops and thinks about this action rather than just getting his revenge. Claudius is praying for forgiveness. Hamlet believes that by killing him in this moment, he would be giving Claudius the easy way out, for he would go to heaven. Hamlet's thoughts have him back down from avenging his father's death. He decides that Claudius deserves a proper punishment, and therefore decides that he will kill him while he is in the middle of doing something sinful so he goes to hell. By thinking over every scenario or possibility, Hamlet does not act out his plans quickly or efficiently. If he killed Claudius the first chance he had, instead...

...emotionally invest. However, now, according to Pilcher, a key aspect of childhood is ‘separateness’ from adulthood. Aries definition of childhood as a social construction can be supported by cross-cultural differences and more specifically Punch (2001). Punch studied children in Bolivia and found that at age 5 children were expected to work and take on responsibilities. This cultural variation shows childhood to be a social construction as if it were biological everyone would have the same experiences. There have been several state policies that have constructed and defined childhood, one of which is the children’s act which aimed to give children more rights to make a positive contribution to society. It argues the best place to raise children is at home with their parents which brought about the social view that it is essential for children to spend time with immediate family in order to grow up to be independent. In addition to this, another state policy was the Factory Act which saw the removal of young children from work, strict hours placed upon adolescents and compulsory education put into place. This effected society by presenting and supporting the idea of separateness and children’s need of education. Furthermore, Phillips, a new Right theorist, argues that children are vulnerable and in need of...

...to circulate in my mind. For multiple chapters, the main character Pi recognizes the fear he encounters every day while stranded at sea, and contemplates how it hinders his ability to survive. During this inner monologue, he concludes that, “if your fear becomes a wordless darkness that you avoid…you open yourself to further attacks of fear because you never truly fought the opponent who defeated you” (Martel, 179). Pi has realized that in order to conquer his fear he cannot continue to hide from it. He must be brave and face what he is afraid of if he wishes to survive, or else this fear will build until it is too difficult for him to overcome. This quote is so memorable to me because this is something I learned when I was struggling with social anxiety. In grade eight, I used to skip as much school as possible in order to avoid any and all situations that could possibly strike my anxiety. However, I quickly discovered that this was not a good idea. Every class that I did not attend for fear of my anxiety, I missed a chance to grasp and control it, effectively allowing it to snowball out of control. I think that Pi’s thoughts on the topic of fear are of vital importance to everybody. When one avoids their fear, they are essentially feeding the fire. One must try their best in this internal battle, as when they do nothing they are giving fear what it needs to grow stronger and take control. As I was reading and learning about the main character Pi Patel, I could not help but...

...Task 1. The grandmother lives out in the wood, half a league from the village, and just as Little Red Riding Hood enters the wood, a wolf meets her. Little Red Riding Hood did not know what a wicked creature he is, and is not afraid of him. The wolf thinks to himself, “What a tender young creature. What a nice plump mouthful, she will be better to eat than the old woman. I must act craftily, so as to catch both.” So he walks for a short time by the side of Little Red Riding Hood, and then he says, “see Little Red Riding Hood, how pretty the flowers are about here, why do you not look round. I believe, too, that you do not hear how sweetly the little birds are singing. You walk gravely along as if you are going to school, while everything else out here in the wood is merry.” Task 2 It was a beautiful day that morning. I sat on a bench waiting for the bus, when an elder couple sad down and asked me where I was going. To find love, I said. They seemed surprised, and asked me where I was going to find love. Apartment 77, that’s where my love is. I think they could feel how energetic I was. The elder women looked down at my shoes and said my shoelaces was not tied, I didn´t care. I was too nervous. Perhaps my expectations were too high, I was scared that she didn´t love me like I loved her. Then the elder man asked me why I loved her, i answered that she was the only person who always was listening to my crazy ideas, and always supported me. She is the most beautiful...

...Life of Pi Theme of Religion At times, Life of Pi reads like a defense of religion. Has science proved religion wrong? Here's a protagonist who believes passionately in both zoology and religion. What about the fact of multiple faiths? Don't these faiths contradict each other, cause wars, and other problems? Here's a protagonist who is Muslim, Christian, and Hindu – all at the same time. The book defends not only the common spirit behind these three religions, but the rituals and ceremonies of each. It's as if all three religions find harmonious common ground in this character. Seems unlikely, but then again, the protagonist argues passionately that the miraculous happens in our darkest moments. Quote #1But I don't insist. I don't mean to defend zoos. Close them all down if you want (and let us hope that what wildlife remains can survive in what is left of the natural world). I know zoos are no longer in people's good graces. Religion faces the same problem. Certain illusions about freedom plague them both. (1.4.14) | Do zoos incarcerate animals in confined spaces and make them miserable? Pi doesn't think so: "Certain illusions about freedom" tempt us to this conclusion. In actuality, an animal's life in the wild is more circumscribed than "a knight on a chessboard" (1.4.8). Predator-prey relationships restrict the animal's movement. A zoo enclosure is actually more like a hearth for an animal: a place of comfort and rest. Likewise, most people think of religion as a restrictive...

...Vocabulary instruction and the impact it has on reading comprehension is a topic that appears to be discussed but is not researched as much as we previously envisioned. There are many articles discussing how to implement quality instruction to provide vocabulary development at the elementary level. There appears to be little research on how vocabulary directly impacts student reading comprehension. There is also little research on how word walls impact overall vocabulary development. Vocabulary is one of the five major components of reading along with phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency and reading comprehension. All components are essential when it comes to reading but we believe that vocabulary plays an important role both in learning to read and in comprehending text. Readers cannot understand text without knowing what the words they are reading mean. Although we did not find as much research as hoped, we did find a wide variety of articles that examined the impact that vocabulary instruction has on reading. Many of the articles that we found explained a variety of ways to improve vocabulary instruction that would in turn increase vocabulary development. Some studies looked at emerging language skills such as alliteration, rhyming, segment blending and letter-word identification. Others focused more on decoding, word knowledge and word recognition. Other variables considered included age, gender, race or ethnicity, household income, disability and even parental intelligence...
