...NT 1310 | October 16 2014 | Phillip Wilson | Mr. Covington | A shell script is just a text file full of commands. It must be executable. A shell script is also a computer program designed to be run by the Unix shell, a command line interpreter. The various dialects of shell scripts are considered to be scripting languages. Typical operations performed by shell scripts include file manipulation, program execution, and printing text. Writing a shell script is much quicker than writing the equivalent code in other programming languages. The many advantages include easy program or file selection, quick start, and interactive debugging. A shell script can be used to provide sequencing and decision-making linkage around existing programs, and for moderately-sized scripts the absence of a compilation step is an advantage. Interpretive running makes it easy to write debugging code into a script and rerun it to detect and fix bugs. Non-expert users can use scripting to tailor the behavior of programs, and shell scripting provides some limited scope for multiprocessing. Most common usage methods of PowerShell are interactive console (powershell.exe) and script files (with extension of .ps1 that is also usually executed by powershell.exe). Main features of PowerShell are: .Net integration, object pipeline, easy access to many management domains (WMI, ADSI, COM, .NET etc.) and standardization that brings easy discovery and quick learning of new features after you know base functionality...

...UNIT 6 RESEARCH PAPER 1 What is a NAS devise ? A network-attached storage (NAS) device is a server that is dedicated to nothing more than file sharing. NAS does not provide any of the activities that a server in a server-centric system typically provides, such as e-mail, authentication or file management. NAS allows more hard disk storage space to be added to a network that already utilizes servers without shutting them down for maintenance and upgrades. With a NAS device, storage is not an integral part of the server. Instead, in this storage-centric design, the server still handles all of the processing of data but a NAS device delivers the data to the user. A NAS device does not need to be located within the server but can exist anywhere in a LAN and can be made up of multiple networked NAS devices. What is the speed of the network adapter available on Nas device ? There are many varieties of NAS devices, depending on if you build it yourself or purchase it. The speed is usually 1GB Ethernet connection but it can be changed to multiple Gb, 10Gb, fiber optic by adding a PCIe network cards. What is the capacity range? The capacity range also varies. With a port replication and add on hardware drive controller cards there really isn’t a limit on size. Is there any fault tolerance (such as RAID) built into a NAS device? The capacity range again varies, people have built 40 TB (terabyte) machines and other just have 2TB. With port replication and add...

...friend and run a stop light? Will you say “sorry” to the kid’s parents and expect everything to be okay? Saying “sorry” cannot begin to fix some things and preventing those from happening by acting responsibly in the first place is the best you can do. I like the introduction technique with the hypothetical questions. However, you now need to transition into your thesis or central claim, and that central claim needs to come here, at the end of the intro paragraph. Ninety percent of car accidents are caused by human error – driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, speeding recklessly, changing lanes without signaling, passing through red lines, and probably most known of all: distracted driving OK, first of all, don’t begin body paragraphs with statistics. Rarely should you do this. Instead, remember that I want your body paragraphs to begins with subclaims. Secondly, where did you get this statistic? This is not a research paper (you’ll be taught proper research in Composition II). For now, we want you to avoid research sources except your interviews. . Distracted Driving is dangerous and can kill you and those people around you.—THIS is a subclaim. The problem is, it needs to be backed up by the kind of evidence we’ve been talking about in this class—personal evidence and evidence from your interviews. It involves texting and driving, listening to music, having a conversation to someone in the passenger seat and eating while driving. A lot of people drive while...

...After spending countless hours searching the difference between personal essays vs. research papers I found that a research paper addresses a specific question. It is based on research and mainly presents and defends an argument with support of relevant findings. A research paper requires gathering information, developing and organizing ideas and finally putting those ideas into a conclusion and is generally on an average between 3-5 pages long A research paper should have some important points. First of all, the purpose of research should be clear and should not have double meaning. Making it simple and original are two important things to have in your paper. It will help readers be able to understand exactly what your paper is about, it is important to keep the research specific. A research paper should discover a new idea and it should be of interest to others. And research papers also should be truthful, relevant, organized, resourceful and complete. A complete research paper must have some basic requirements. A title page with title of research, author's name, date, and school/university is one of the main requirements of a research paper. Some others are: introduction part: the introduction moves from a broad area of interest to the specific idea, method part: it provides a description of the study, result section: a clear description of findings and a discussion part and the reference part. An essay is a piece of writing, usually from a person’s personal...

Other frequently reported benefits include: deepened powers of attention, increased self-confidence, greater intimacy and spontaneity in relationships, enhanced emotional health, awakened spirituality. Through Proprioceptive Writing, people increase their creativity and feel their minds expand, one of life's greatest pleasures. (Proprioceptive Writing Center) Metcalf and Simon claim that each student they teach Proprioceptive Writing to believes “writing is profoundly linked to spiritual and mental health” (Intro. xxvi). Presumably then, people who do not share that belief, including myself, are not good candidates for succeeding with Proprioceptive Writing. According to Metcalf and Simon, Proprioceptive Writing provides a framework for organizing and facilitating self-examination (Intro. xxv). That may be true, but not everyone requires such a framework. I...

...Social Control and Criminal Deviance: Bullying Cherry Sanders Prof. Sheila Farr Intro to Sociology November 15, 2015 The most important step in the students guide to research that you would need in order to analyze bulling would be formulating a research question. Formulating a research question precisely and carefully is one of the most important steps to ensure a successful paper. You need to make clear your definition of the term and how that will be measured. In my opinion the critical step of research is to think of a solid researchable question to form your research around. A successful research paper depends upon how well a student formulates the research question. This will determine how well your research will turn out. Bullying is “verbal or physical behavior designed to disturb someone less powerful” (Santrock 372)—“the most malicious and malevolent form of deviant behavior widely practiced in our schools” (Tattum 7). This is the best way I can explain how bullying relates to different types of deviance. Deviance is any behavior, action, practice, or condition, including those that violate cultural norms or social laws, that result in disapproval, hostility, or sanction if it becomes known. Bullying and Deviance go hand in hand, because bullying is a behavior that is considered not to be of normal behavior and in today’s society the people doing the bullying are being punished, because this behavior is such a problem. ...Court System Intro #1 Throughout U.S history women had been known as properties belonging to a man. Women are seen as objects while the men are seen as an individual self. It took many years before the U.S Government amends and adopted new laws in order for women to be label as equals’ of men. One of the biggest movements in U.S history was the Feminist Movement in the 1960’s where groups of women fought to gain equality for women in the life, workplace, home and also to bring awareness to violence against women. Shame on all those women of the 2000’s who now use these laws to their advantage in family, civil and criminal court to bring men to their knees, and to erase fathers from the lives of their children. False allegations by women of child abuse, domestic violence, and stalking are almost never questioned by judges for fear of being politically incorrect. Intro #2 In the late 1980’s there was a controversial murder case where two people, brother and sister both of whom committed the same crime. They were tried and found guilty of murder of a woman who was the girlfriend of the sister’s ex-husband. What's most shocking is the sentence that was handed to them. As Marc Angelucci puts it, a Time columnist writer, “She gets 10 years in prison. He gets the death sentence.” This is just one of many absurd cases of discrimination against men in the U.S Court system. What is your experience with using a rough draft in the writing process? : My experience using the rough draft in the writing process of course your rough draft is just a general idea of what your final draft will be. The goal for me when I write my rough draft is to try my absolute best to write a potent well-polished paper. This way I can go over it and have a peer review my paper to edit my paper to perfection. Using ideas such as checking vocabulary, checking for fragments, and also if the paper made sense. There is a river point driver that can format your paper for you and there is a plagiarism checker to make sure your paper is close to 100 % originality. 2.) What steps should be taken before creating the first draft of a research paper? : Before creating the first draft of a research paper I believe that one should complete their research. After they have done research that person should be creative and locate their thesis statement. Step three should be to break down there thesis statement into 5 important topics. Step four is to use your research to prove those 5 important topics to prove your thesis. Step 6 is to write a conclusion, restating your thesis and why your topic is true/false. 3.) Why is it important to use quotations and paraphrases when documenting your sources? Explain : Quotations and...
