Ko, Yoko and mother were stranded in the woods looking desperately for food. By: Yoko Kawashima Watkins. Yoko and Ko and mother were forced out of there hose and they need to get to japan before the Korean communist army gets them. Ko was courageous because she gave Yoko more food even though she didn’t have much. Ko was courageous throughout the book. Ko was sharing all of her belongings.
Ko gave Yoko her dried fish and made sure that she ate enough to keep her somewhat healthy. Ko made a skirt and a nice warm jacket out of the army jacket they got off the army guy that was killed right by them it kept Yoko warm. Ko in the end was a big help to her mother and her younger sister she picked stuff out of trash cans for her and her family.
