Born in Big Bear, California and living in six different states throughout the United States, Rinda Porter returned to where she belongs, southern California. Spending most of her grammar school age in Ohio, Kentucky, and Alabama, she returned to California for the high school years. She moved to Utah after high school graduation and started working in a large laboratory making eyeglasses. Once the winter cabin fever set in, she returned to the sunshine of California and continued her career in the optical field for the next 15 years. Her most recent position was in an Ophthalmology practice managing an optical department that included four locations and nine opticians. She worked many successful years in the optical field and one day decided she was looking for a new challenge and desired more versatility. She decided she wanted to return to school to learn a new trade. Because she loves to help people, deciding on a career in the healthcare field was an easy decision. The commitment and detail to tasks is how she successfully climbed the latter within the optical field and plans to use the same drive with her educational goals. Security is the most important aspect she desires within a career, therefore; when a career change was decided, she knew that becoming a Radiologic Technologist offered the security she needs. Her passion for helping others was the final determining factor when making the decision. Crafton Hills College offered the courses she needed to take before she can apply to the Radiologic Technologist program.
