This is a paper on Domestic Violence Program’s tells how programs like ours help Women, Men and children deal with domestic abuse. Having the knowledge of abuse increases awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault, ending the stigma surrounding both that can often keep victims from seeking urgently-needed help. The services provided are counseling, housing assistance, and childcare along with future life skills. Ruben’s Safe House is the largest provider of domestic violence services in the United States and the largest provider of domestic violence residence for battered women and men. Our shelter provide more than 600 beds throughout Florida, operating both emergency shelters for crisis situations and transitional housing where families may stay for several months in order to plan for future free from violence. The shelters offer comprehensive services including counseling, housing assistance, life skills and parenting courses, childcare, and medical aid.
Summary
We define domestic violence as a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another partner. Domestic violence can be physical, sexual, emotional, or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person. “This includes any behaviors that intimidate, manipulate, humiliate, isolate, frighten, terrorize, coerce, threaten, blame, hurt, injure, or wound someone” (Safehorizon.org). Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior used to establish power and control over another person through fear and intimidation, often including the treat or use of violence our program helps to prevent this type of behavior and gives the victim avenues to prevent violence.
