...Sao Paulo is not only the largest city in Brazil but it is also one of the top countries in the world with the worst traffic. There is a population of about 18 million people with about 6.3 million cars 650,000 motor cycles, 35,000 taxis and 17,000 busses. To make things worse there are also 1,000 new cars added a day. There have been traffic jams stretching up to 293 km of traffic. Naturally, with numbers like these there is bound to be some traffic. However, there are also 19,000 trucks that pass through Sao Paulo every day. These trucks cause damage to roads and therefore, cause a chain of reaction ending in increased traffic. Of course, the government of Brazil has made effort to help reduce traffic congestion. They have introduced fast-lane buss systems. Some of which are even connected to the metro. Road space rationing is also present; each car has to be kept off the street during rush hour one day each week. Certain license numbers are restricted from using the roads during peak times. There is an estimated 6 million people that use the subway system; the government has spent $10 billion to expand the metro. Sao Paulo Brazil also has one of the highest rates of air traffic. They have provided helicopters for government officials and busy executives. However, we have some suggestions that we believe would reduce the traffic even more. Firstly, air traffic should be made more accessible to a wider number/variance of people. We have worked out that it can cost up to $5...

Currently the Brasilian Central Bank basis rate SELIC (Brazilian Central Bank’s rate for overnight lending) is at 8,50% p.a. (COPOM - Committee of Monetary Policy). ...I. The Brazilian Macro-Environment Investment Climate Analysis Brazil is quite interesting place for investment and many companies are entering this developing market. Its high GDP growth, large economy, developed infrastructure, liberalisation of public sector and many Foreign Direct Investments have turned this struggling country into developing nation that holds 2nd place (China is 1st) in amount of foreign capital invested into the economy. In last 5 years, Brazilian government has been quite stable and it seems that Brazil has a sound strategy when it comes to taking its economy into top performing ones. Government is introducing new, more liberal competition laws and it is introducing new forms of investments, such as PPP, or Private Public Property, where both the investor and government share the risks by holding equal stakes in the investments. But, let us not be blinded by the Brazilian marketing skills and their portraying of real investment climate. There is for sure a lot of space for improvement. We will perform a few analyses, which will give us precise insights into the environmental conditions for investing in Brazil, and through analysing this country; we shall decide what type of investment is the most suitable for Red & Green. PESTL Analysis Investment climate is the economical, institutional, policy, and regulatory environment in which firms operate. ...A1: Product Design During the course of the year, TCB enterprises had tried to design its products based on what the customers wants. During the test market phase, two line of product was created; the Echelon, aimed for the high end market, and the JetSetter, aimed towards the travelers. These brands were also priced below the price that customers are willing to pay. Discounts were also given to reduce the price even further to attract customers to these brands. In Quarter 2, the decision was made to rename the Echelon line to Mercedes, and a new line, the Workhorse line, was added. This was decided as TCB’s management wanted to cover all three markets in order to gauge the profitability of each market. The Mercedes and Jetsetter lines were modified to align them more towards the customer’s needs and wants. Based on the performance reports from Quarter 2, during Quarter 3, TCB decided to realign all three lines. The Jetsetter line was renamed to Traveller to emphasize that this line is catering to the travelers. Each line was modified based on customer’s feedback, and each line was given the “v2” signature to emphasis on the newly improved version of the lines. The pricing strategy was kept the same, and the advertising campaign was modified to emphasize on the modified lines. In Quarter 4, a new line was added. ...'Issues in cities are the same across the world' Issues are views or concerns that people may hold about a feature or event which may be beneficial or problematic. Examples of urban issues are crime, pollution and overpopulation. Overpopulation is an issue which is rapidly affecting cities across the globe, and can have a detrimental impact on urban areas. Hyper-urbanisation is a problem which can stem from this. This is caused when a city’s population increases at a faster rate than the growth of economic and industrial development, which results in a strain on resources. This is a problem which has greatly affected Sao Paulo. The population of Sao Paulo has doubled from 6 million in 1970 to nearly 12 million today, with a current population density of 9000 people per square kilometre. As a result of this vast increase in population, the city is unable to support its entire population, leading to the development of favelas. Favelas, known as slums in other parts of the world, are generally in very poor condition, with no water supply, plumbing or electricity. Spread of disease is common and often unavoidable, with poor sanitation putting the areas at risk to infestations from rats, for example. Overpopulation affects developed countries, as well as those which are developing. Portsmouth, a city in the UK, is a prime example of this. Portsmouth has the highest population density of any city in Europe, estimated at 5100 people per square mile. This presents a number of...

On the other hand, the research company targeted women which is a smart thing to do since %74 of purchases were made by them. Also, they have a pretty good outline for the interviews, except than some flaws. b) How would you recruit the participants? First of all, I would select my participants from southeast and north Brazil (Sao Paulo, Rio and another city from north) and participants should be members of A, B and C social classes. Also, I would select the participants more homogenously. For instance, I would select house housewives and apartment housewives from every city and social class and then I would add other distinctive factors such as marital status, age, lifestyle and education, the main thing is these features should be exist homogenously in participants. For instance; if we have married women with children from Sao Paulo, then we must have the same kind of group...

...Brad Fry A00313866 Ad-Lider Embalagens, SA 1. The methodologies of the market research used by Ad-Lider were focus groups and intercept interviews. There were three separate focus groups which were conducted. Two of these groups were carried out in Sao Paulo, while the other was in Rio de Janeiro. In Sao Paulo, one group consisted of housewives living in apartments, while the other was housewives living in houses. In Rio, the group consisted of housewives living in apartments. The profile of Sao Paulo women living in houses were married, had children, ages 28-40, and had a high school education. The Sao Paulo women living in apartments were either married or single, ages 28-39, and had professional careers. The Rio participants consisted of women who were either single or divorced, ages 32-42, with or without children, and had a high school education. The Rio participants were active in exercise programs while the Sao Paulo participants were not involved in exercise programs. I believe that it is important to note that these focus groups were made entirely of women. In appendix four, under consumer data, it shows that 25% of all garbage bag purchases are made by males (as determined by the individual interviews). The focus groups are cutting out a quarter of Ad-Lider’s potential customers. It is also important to note that the focus groups were entirely type A and B social classes. This demographic is only 19% of Brazilian households, and only 52% of the national...
