Company History

Task Get to know the company’s history.

Time 15 min

Short Description Read the below narrative to learn about the company’s history.

Global Bike Inc. has a pragmatic design philosophy that comes from its deep roots in both the off-road trail racing and long-distance road racing sports. Nearly 20 years ago, its founders designed their first bikes out of necessity—they had races to win and the bikes that were available at the time did not perform to their extremely high standards. So, they took matters into their own hands and built legendary bikes that would outlast and outperform the competition. From these humble origins, Global Bike
Incorporated was born and continues to deliver innovative highperformance bicycles to the world’s most demanding riders.

Notes

This heritage of entrepreneurial spirit and quest for design perfection is still the cornerstone of GBI’s corporate philosophy. GBI produces bikes for the most demanding competitors—whether the competition is on pavement or dirt, for money, fame or just bragging rights.

Sap Using Erp

...SAP AG: Orchestrating the Ecosystem On a beautiful sunny afternoon in July 2007, Zia Yusuf, the Executive Vice President, Global Ecosystem and Partner Group at SAP, took a sip of his cappuccino as he walked into his office. Yusuf found a new PowerPoint deck on his desk and his attention turned to Nakisa Inc., a small software company seeking Tier 1 status within SAP. But for the Montreal-based succession-planning software company to achieve the prized Tier 1 status, there would have to be a business case presented to the Board, one that justified, on an array of criteria, the rationale for this award. If it did happen, tiny Nakisa would take its place, in a very small and select circle, alongside such companies as Adobe, Cisco, and Microsoft. Five years ago, SAP would likely have built the application with its own engineering organization. Yusuf’s team had worked with SAP’s product management organization to put together a deck of slides on the Nakisa partnership to be presented to the SAP Board. Yusuf flipped through the deck and wondered if the recommendation to elevate Nakisa to Tier 1 status really made sense. Yusuf reflected for a moment on how far things had come in just a few years, to even be considering this. Prior to 2000, organizations in the enterprise resource planning software (ERP) industry—notably archrivals SAP and Oracle—played clear-cut roles in the complex process of developing and installing enterprise applications, even as the nature of the product demanded...

...Christian Bernal MGMT 473 Fitter Snacker Case Question 1 Assignment As we all know, a common database means data is consistent between functional areas. If this is not considered, there will be incorrect data that leads to one module will carry over to other modules. Snacker has two types of products NRGA which is an advanced energy bar and NRGB type which is for body building proteins. Now Fitter Snackers has two sales divisions which are a wholesale division and a direct division. The company faces a serious problem with its information system because it’s not integrated, so it’s causing the functional departments to not communicate leading to serious problems to reach process efficiency. The company is more a functional process than being a business process. Because of this functional process, employees in the accounting department and Sales department are sharing their information based on paper printed. The consequences for sharing information on paper based leads to many data errors, credit data may not be updated after printout payment received or multiple orders places, leading to arithmetic errors or incorrect discount coupons, and faxed copy may not be legible. All these issues described before will lead for management to make incorrect decisions plus they will make more time to make decisions which will affect in a negative way their manufacturing and other departments. Other major problems for Fitter was the fact that there were inaccurate invoice payments...

...Fundamentals of Supply Chain Solutions with SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a framework for organizing, defining, and standardizing the business processes necessary to effectively plan and control an organization so the organization can use its internal knowledge to seek external advantage. The ERP system is a set of software applications that organize, define and standardize the business processes necessary to effectively plan and control an organization. Essentially, ERP applications are a computer model of a business, embodying the products and processes, information flow, procedures, and relationships between functions and activities. ...Riordan Manufacturing Executive Summary ABCO Consulting thanks the Riordan organization for allowing us to do this upgrade analysis. A review of the existing infrastructure at Riordan has been completed and the findings are contained in this document. There will be a listing of what was found followed by a proposed upgrade system layout. The scope of this project is to cover the following systems and subsystems and to explain how they all interact one with another. Finance & Accounting Identify and describe existing system: Riordan’s Manufacturing’s Accounting Services division is responsible for overseeing all financial processes within the company. Everything from AR, AP, payroll, General Ledger, purchasing, inventory controls, metrics, and employee payroll processing has been managed by team of well-qualified members who have demonstrated utmost professionalism for many years. In addition to these many time-consuming tasks, strict quarterly audits are also conducted throughout the company on a regular basis, most of which have met or exceeded industry standards. Therefore, the issue here the company faces is not one of quality, but rather one of efficiency. To date, many of the systems and procedures in place, while affective, are not as streamline or as consistent as they could be. Still others (e.g. audits), although effective, are taking weeks to complete when most similar operations today can finalize internal audits in a matter of days...
