Haemophilus Influenzae is a gram-netative anaerobic bacterium that was thought to be the cause of influenza; however Haemophilus Influenzae is actually a bacterium, not a virus and is therefore entirely unrelated to influenza. Normally there is no sign of the bacterium in the subject, meaning typically there are no symptoms until other events occur. Weaknesses in the immune system provide opportunities for attack, so the bacterium usually infects in conjunction with another illness that attacks the immune system. Common symptoms when Haemophilus Influenzae is active skin infections can occur, inflammation around the brain and spinal cord known as meningitis, inflammation around the bronchial tubes commonly known as bronchitis which can be paired with coughing up phlegm. The disease hits like sabotage, initially looking like nothing is wrong however when it becomes too late, or some other stimulus occurs Haemophilus Influenzae springs into effect and performs the task that it arrived for. Other treatments once the disease is active include antibiotics and remain away from the workplace, so as not to spread the bacteria around a workplace or school. It’s especially important that someone with Haemophilus Influenzae remain away from anyone with a weak immune system such as those who are already ill, infants, and older people as they are especially susceptible. Diagnosis of the disease usually starts with laboratory tests on blood or spinal fluid. Typically treatment for Haemophilus Influenzae is around 10 days, but sometimes it does take a trip to the hospital to sort everything
