Sectionalism and Nationalism affect/affected our country in many ways. During this time period many things happened such as the Missouri compromise or the Era of Good feelings and the United States was very divided. One example of sectionalism is the Missouri Compromise. Many people disagreed on Missouri. Some people wanted it to be a slave state others wanted it to be a free state. According to document 9.2 both sides wanted different things but they finally came to a conclusion. The south got Missouri and the North got Maine. An example of Nationalism is the Monroe Doctrine. The Monroe Doctrine was a set of rules/a warning that explained that this land (the U.S) is our land and that you cannot take it. It explained that we also would not
