My second artifact is an image of Jack Williams, and another of Frances Clalin. Jack Williams was a well respected and honorable union soldier. Fances Clalin was a mother of three from Illinois. What's surprising is that these two images are of the same person, Frances Clalin. Clalin was among the many women who disguised themselves as men to fight in the military.
