...The Single Mom NURS 440 April 26, 2015 Deanna Radford There are a lot of assumptions out there about single parents and particularly single moms. For example, there are people who believe that most single moms choose to raise their kids solo, are unemployed, and receive government assistance. While every story is different, most don’t support these assumptions. Once largely limited to poor women and minorities, single motherhood is now becoming the new “norm”. This prevalence is due in part to the growing trend of children born outside marriage, a societal trend that was virtually unheard of decades ago. When you examine U.S. Census data, the actual single parent statistics may surprise you. Single Parents by the Numbers According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are approximately 13.7 million single parents in the United States today, and those parents are responsible for raising 22 million children. This number represents approximately 26% of children under 21 in the U. S. today. Despite negative assumptions that most single moms “selfishly” chose to raise their kids solo, the majority of individuals raising children alone started out in committed relationships and never expected to be single parents. Of all single-parent families in the U.S., single mothers make up the majority. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, out of about 12 million single parent families in 2014, more that 80% were headed by single mothers. Today...

I know she want me to feel sorry for her, and be here to comfort her. i didnt what said to her so i just told her some man aren't man, and she shouldn't waste on a married man. ...In The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls, Liz is an exceptionally intelligent and independent child for someone her age, of only fifteen years old. Because of her extreme responsibility and compassion for those around her, she is a great role model for Bean, her little sister. Other than being a role model, Liz's main purpose is to serve as the maternal figure for Bean since their birth mother leaves for weeks at a time, and is not around to support them. Liz shows her role by always taking care of Bean when their mom decides to leave. To begin, Liz achieved her maternal role to Bean, by getting a job of her own, "Liz had been doing some babysitting, but after Mom had been gone a week, she decided to take on extra work, and I got a job delivering Grit, a newspaper with useful stories..." (Walls 15). Liz knows that if she is not independent and got a job then there was no way that her and Bean could survive without their mother. Also it was her idea to leave for Byler so that the bandersnatchers, which is the girls word for the police, would not be able to take them away to Child Protective Services. Liz always knew what to do in these kind of situations, as we are told by Bean, which makes Liz very dependable. Also, Liz is remarkably intelligent, which we know because she is always complimented by teachers, parents and other adults about how outstanding she is. But not only is Liz considered to be smart in school, or "book smart", she also knows how to deal with the...

...Family Systems How can one discern a healthy family system? Within a healthy family system, the children will be the main concern. It is very important that children get the required vaccinations. If a child doesn’t obtain their immunization shots, it could be fatal. The immunizations are to fight off diseases. Before a child can enter school, their vaccinations must be completed. Parents make sure they go to the doctor for routine check up to ensure proper development. According to Feldman, as children grow the intake of food can be lessened. Children should not be made to eat more than they actually want. By making them eat more, may expand their level of intake. When it comes to mealtime, children should be given the opportunity to pick nutritional foods that they enjoy. Although they may choose certain foods, it’s the parent job to get them to try new things (Feldman 205-207). What are the determining factors that distinguish healthy family systems? The determining factors would be the parenting that the child receives. What a child faces at home has a lot to do with how they act outwardly. Children may face so many different things in the home. If a child has a loving, supportive, and nurturing home, he or she can accomplish anything. There are many different types of parenting in this chapter. According to Feldman, authoritarian parents respond as in the first alternative. “They are controlling, punitive, rigid, and cold. Their word is law, and they value strict...

First of all, since the arrival of the Internet, the cultural world of music has been changed due to dematerialization of media such as MP3 music. Indeed, sales of CDs were the center of the music recording industry in the past. Nowadays, people don’t have to buy CDs to listen to music. They can buy music directly via the Internet, or listen to music Through this revolution, artists and labels face a real crisis because of illegal downloading. The history of these labels began to rapidly changing rule of the consumer in the society. Indeed, the role has grown in importance over the years to be more active in the process of consumption. These companies take a website form allowing users to select and to fund artists to see their environmental record albums. The consumer becomes a kind of producer of the artist, by involving directly in the musical project. It’s like a cultural and artistic sponsorship. In return, users don’t expect a return on investment only financially but also in terms of communication, with some recognition on the fact of participating...

2- The value of horizontal brand extensions: Are the banking and vodka businesses compatible with a single brand? Can a single brand offer a common promise to such seemingly different categories? Is the brand getting diluted or can it benefit from synergies?

...Russian Standard Vodka 1) Understanding the sources of brand equity: What are the sources of the brand equity of the Russian Standard brand? Why was the brand able to enjoy such rapid success in Russia? 2) The value of horizontal brand extensions: Are the banking and vodka business compatible with a single brand? Can a single brand offer a common promise to such seemingly different categories? Is the brand getting diluted or can it benefit from synergies? 3) Managing global branding: Should Russian Standard adapt the positioning of the brand and its marketing mix (name, price, packaging, distribution, communication) or should it try to keep the positioning and marketing that have been successful in Russia, in order to create a consistent global brand?

...In the early 2000’s, the genre of pop punk/emo pop was widely popular with the teen generation. Earlier bands, such as Green Day, Blink 182, and Fall Out Boy all set the stage for Panic! At the Disco to release their first album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out on September 27, 2005. The lyrics on the album were composed by the band’s lead guitarist, Ryan Ross. Other main members of the band include lead singer, Brendon Urie, and drummer, Spencer Smith. Even though Panic! At the Disco has continued to release several albums, none of them have ever come close to having the same effect their first album had on the music community. This particular album has a different but catchy sound to it, story-like lyrics, and unique vocalization. To begin, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out definitely has a different but catchy sound to say the least. The album starts off with a song titled “Introduction.” The song itself has no lyrics; it is merely there to introduce the listener to the music they should expect to hear. One of the most interesting parts of this song is, when listening to the tracks in the correct order, the ending of the song fades out into the beginning of the next song, creating a seamless transition. The entire album is very well put together and sounds very much like a play or musical in the way it is assembled. The first seven songs of the album are heavily techno induced and introduce drum machines and synths. After the first seven songs, there is a song appropriately titled “Intermission...
