Sub culture is a word that is very much in controversy. Some people may think that the word is another word to describe a group of people, but I believe it’s much more than that. Sub culture is when a group in society does things or has distinguished attributes that are different from those around them. People in college for instance have many different sub cultures all around them. In the article “Gender Differences in Distress: The Mediating Influence of Life Stressors and Psychological Resources.” ( Nurullah, A.,2010)It teaches you all about the possible distress of the sub culture of college life. It goes on to show that women can have more distress in an overall basis than women do. It states that 30% of the time women suffer more distress than a man. Another article that coincides with the idea of sub-cultures in college was “DIVERSITY IN COLLEGE STUDENT CHARACTERISTICS.”(Heist, P., 1960). Within this article I came across useful information that helped depict some of the subcultures that are in some colleges. As I was reading the article gave some insight as to some of the college’s selections on their students. I think sub culture has a lot of effects on the way people look at society. In high school I think is where the sub culture begins and it integrates into college.
