In Julie Kimura’s Kindergarten class, there is one special education student. The student is in Kimura’s AM class and is assisted with an aide. A has an IEP with social goals. Her IEP states that she needs to be in the classroom 65% of the time, but A is only in the classroom during opening time for the first 15 minutes each day. A will participate in a music and movement group by imitating the hand signs for a song or by imitating a movement to a song. We will know she has achieved this goal when she imitates movements to one song for 3 days over 3 weeks.
