Special Population and the Advocate Role

There are advocate that are needed within the world population on different levels.
Disabilities are one of the major populations’ categories that specifically with children that has disabilities. The human services are able to console the problems that many disabled individuals are experiencing. The human services would provide services to the client that would suite him or her with the illness that would help with their health. This paper would be talking about the problems that are arised and how the advocate would help the population. The content of the paper would discuss the area of domestic violence, education, housing, probation, short and long term medical care, and treatment.

With the housing of a disables person is difficult for them to deal with on their own. With the many different agencies that would help the individual with finding a place that would console the needs that the person would be in need of when he or she is not able to live on their own because of the disabilities. Human services have section eight housing that would consist of having the ability to us the services that would help the person to live their life. The role of the advocate would help the person/client to live in the housing in order for the advocate to help the person to work on being able to care for themselves. The main problem would be is being put on a waiting list to be able to get on with the housing. Since there is an advocate to help the disabled person to whom he or she is only capable to only do limited things in order for the advocate to provide the services to help the client. Also in the searching of housing for someone that is disabled but can live on their own but is not able to pay for the living place even though on living lace might be section eight. With section eight housing the person is laced on a list that could take a while to fall through. With section eight housing the wait could be longer because of the nature of the illness of the person the advocate would have to search for the right area and place in case if the client is not capable to go up stairs or living in a place where there is smoking. That would be a drawback for the placement home is when there is no availability for the person to live at the time when he or she needs a place to stay. As the advocate for the population in finding the right place of living for the disabled person would be the main focus in the goal setting. With the time consuming as the advocate having the patience because the situations of the cases could change for the worse, but it is important to see the client needs are being met. It is important as the advocate to make sure that the clients are taken care of. Also as the advocate for the population it would be good to help the clients to find a group home that is suitable for them to live in due to their disability. To satisfy the client need as the advocate it is essential to know their needs and wishes because it is the advocate job to the client to find a stable place that is in a safe environment. Most agencies would not like to it when the client is not satisfied with the living area that was found for them to live but as the advocate it is their responsibility in ensuring the client needs would be meet properly. While in the group home the client would be told that what goes on as well as the staff for the clients’ disability and how to go about helping them to achieve the goal of care. If the client is experiencing a problem then it is important for the advocate to express their voice in fixing the problem that the client has to make things better for him or her. In home care for the child/children he or she is not always receiving the help on a daily bases. Most of the routines that the child has to do on a daily bases is take a bath, or doing their chore, and exercise.
Treatment is the next area that the advocate helps with the client disabilities. With this treatment it could be part of consoling. Advocates at time experience problems when helping to find the right center point for the client. The advocate would provide their client with the best of treatment to the type of disability that he or she has. Most of the treatment centers would be for the emotional or intellectual of disabilities. With these types of facilities it would help the client to become more aware of what would be suitable for the client by stimulating their weaknesses.
Advocates are there to work with the consoler about the client ways of behavior and what he or she might be experiencing.
To be an advocate it is in the interest of the client to ensure that he or she is receiving the best treatment and that he or she would understand what would be happening in the treatment before anything began and the client has agreed upon the treatment. There are times where the client is not receiving all of the important information and when it comes time for the treatment they are not satisfied with the treatment. As the advocate it is important to stand in for the client if he or she does not understand what is going on. Being there is for the best interest of the client.
With long and short term medical care that advocate use to enhance their client treatment.
The long term medical care is for if the client is hospitalized over a period of time. If this case happens then the advocate would communicate with the client and doctor to see what treatment would plan would be planned for the client care. As the advocate it would in the best interest that the advocate would research to make sure that it is best for the client treatment.
Short term medical care is a temporary treatment of care for a client that has a been on a accident. As the advocate it would be considerate to know what the client is going through and how he or she feels about the treatment of care. The client might have question about the care and if there are any concerns it is important for the advocate to talk to the doctor to receive a clarification for the client to feel more at ease. When a person has a disability at times it could be difficult for him or her to attend school because he or she would not receive the care that the advocate would be able to provide to him or her than the school would be able to. Most of the time the advocate would educate the student.
The advocate would communicate with the school and receive the information on what the client should be working on. But if the client is having problem reading or seeing the words then the advocate would request for the information to be blown up into bigger wording to enhance the client ability to do this or her work. The advocate would work with the teachers to enhance the adult/child weaknesses and strengths.
Probation is when the person is not able to go a certain distance and time allowed to be out and about. The advocate would explain to a person that is on probation the dos’ and do not. If the person has a disability it is in the best interest of the person to have a advocate present to explain to him or her about the trouble and probation would go.
The last area is domestic violence, where the advocate would be used to counsel the client. When a person has an illness of mental disabilities that would hard him/herself or others, it is the advocate job to calm the person down to prevent harm to take place and come u with other ways of helping the person to resolve the situation differently in the right way. By talking it out sometimes resolves the issues of what has taken place. The police are usually called and they tend to become the advocate in the situation by asking question to figure out what happen.
Domestic violence is something that the advocate does not take lightly because it is a illness that needed to be in controlled before the person hurt anyone else or him or herself.
In conclusion the advocate works with many different populations. The advocate only works with people with disabilities. Because of their condition the advocate has to assist them in helping him or her to receive the help that is attended for them to recover from what they are experiencing in their health situation.
