I recently found your listing for a Teaching Assistant on Indeed.com and would love to be considered for this position. With experiences tutoring and teaching as a volunteer, I know that I will be a great candidate for the job.

From the start of my college years, I worked with elementary students from kindergarten to fifth grade in Science and Reading. I enjoy tutoring children and finding ways to make the subjects easy to understand and fun. Through working and volunteering, I got the chance to work with teachers, a tech-education startup, and directors in increasing students’ readiness for state exams and for the overall school season. Spending time in these areas, I learned how to quickly pinpoint the needs of my students and understand

Many Many Sops

...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As for SOPs, don't worry too much. All of you have good writing skills. Anyway, my advice on this matter is: [1] Have a look at some SOPs *now* or early next SEM. [2] When it's time to write your own SOP, do it *fully* by yourself. Do not look at anybody else's SOP. [3] Having made version 1.0 of your SOP, *now* take a look at as many SOPs as you can of guys in your area. Borrow points from then which you think are good. [4] Your SOP does not have to be too big. We at IITB tend to write long SOPs (1.5 to 2 pages) whereas IITM guys (who get better schools!)Usually write 0.75 page (max. 1 page). Basically, their SOPs are much more direct and to-the-point than ours. [5] REMEMBER THAT A SOP *MUST* BE ORIGINAL. Statement of Purpose I am applying to Stanford University for admission to the Ph.D. program in Computer Science. I am interested in Theoretical Computer Science, particularly in the Design and Analysis of Approximation Algorithms, Combinatory and Complexity Theory. My interest in Mathematics goes back to the time I was at school. This interest has only grown through my years in school and high school, as I have learnt more and more about the subject. Having represented India at the International Mathematical Olympiads on two occasions, I have been exposed to elements of Discrete Mathematics, particularly Combinatory and Graph Theory, outside the regular school curriculum at an early stage. Geology Graduate Program: A Personal Statement Of Purpose

...Statement of Purpose Sierra Ramsey While pursuing a degree beyond a bachelor’s is a dream I had in mind since high school, it only occurred to me that I truly wanted to pursue a higher level of education while I was a teaching assistant for an introductory geology course during the second semester of my freshman year. Since then I have set my mind to maintaining a high GPA and balancing the extra work and time necessary to complete an honor’s degree. This makes me believe that I can handle the expectations and workload that come with a graduate program. I now have been a teaching assistant twice and these experiences, along with my coursework and research have reinforced my desire to enroll in a graduate program. I am passionate about learning and am always eager to learn new things in my field of study. Being a...

...Academic Finance as a Career: The Good, The Bad, and the Not-So-Pretty Don Chance James C. Flores Endowed Chair of MBA Studies Louisiana State University Current version: January 4, 2011 (Original version: November 19, 2007) Most undergraduate and masters students in finance (MS and MBA) are preparing for a career in the world of finance. Oftentimes, jobs in finance have titles like financial analyst, credit analyst, and assistant treasurer, with the possibilities of someday becoming a vice president of finance, chief financial officer, treasurer or some other high-ranking position of responsibility. Finance is an important field to study because it deals with the management of money, a subject of central concern to every business, government agency, or nonprofit organization, and indeed every individual. Knowing how the financial world operates, the characteristics of securities, and how investment decisions should be made serves one well for many career paths. The study of finance also helps to prepare a person to manage his or her own money and increase the likelihood of accruing significant wealth over time through solid principles of investing. Few students consider another finance-related career option: becoming an academic in finance. Most students know little about this career choice. Their experiences with finance academics are typically limited to their familiarity with classes taken from their professors. But there is a lot more to it than this. And it is probably...

...required: The Personal Statement and the Study/Research Proposal. These essays serve very different but complementary purposes. Unless noted, the following information comes straight from the Fulbright Web site. THE PERSONAL STATEMENT (1 Page) The following information is applicable to both Study/Research and ETA applicants: The Personal Statement should be a narrative giving a picture of you as an individual.  Remember, applicants are not interviewed on the national level. The Personal Statement is your opportunity to “talk” about yourself and to tell the committee more about how you came to this point in your life and where you see yourself in the future.  There is no single “right way” to approach the Statement; rather candidates will consider what they think is important for people reviewing the application to know about them. The Statement can deal with your personal history, family background, influences on your intellectual development, the educational and cultural opportunities (or lack of them) to which you have been exposed, and the ways in which these experiences have affected you.  Also, you may include your special interests and abilities, career plans, and life goals, etc. It should not be a recording of facts already listed on the application or an elaboration of your Statement of Grant Purpose.   It is more of an autobiography, and specifically related to you and your aspirations. Adhere to the following format: • Statement length is limited to...

Rhetorical Analysis

...Assistant professor of education and writer, Jack Schneider, in his article “Making it easier to fire teachers won’t get you better ones”, demonstrates how assumptions that job security can help educators improve is illogical. Schneider’s purpose is to inform/assemble school systems to help teachers find guidance for improvement. He adopts a supportive/candid tone in order for school administrators, districts, and readers to realize that teachers do care for professional growth, but lack their support to reach their full teaching capacity. Throughout the first section of Schneider’s passage, he addresses the Vergara case to distinguish how their logic is far from reality. Schneider creates a pedantic diction to capture the attention of schools and districts, to emphasize that his claims are correct. “Research does indicate that, though teachers tend to improve by leaps and bounds in their first few years on the job, they...

...RESUMES WHAT IS A RESUME? A resume is a custom designed, written summary of your background. It provides a thumbnail sketch of your education, experience, and qualifications to a prospective employer. An effective resume targets a specific type of position and relates your skills and experience to that position. WHO WRITES A RESUME? A resume is written by anyone seeking employment, both part-time and full-time. Although there are companies that provide resume-writing services, the most effective resumes are written by the job seeker--after all, who else knows you, your qualifications, and your experiences better--someone you just met, or you? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A RESUME? A good resume (in combination with a cover letter) will provide you with an interview. The employer will select applicants on the basis of how well their skills match up with the job requirements. Sometimes, the difference between getting an interview and being placed in the “no” pile is a well put-together resume. GENERAL RESUME GUIDELINES: Length: • A one-page resume works for the recent graduate. If you have extensive work history, two pages are reasonable. Remember to limit pertinent to what is important to the current job objective. Appearance: • Developing a well organized, readable layout determines if it gets read! Direct the reader’s eyes to the format. • Avoid dense text appearance, which is difficult to read. • Use high-quality white or off-white paper--stay conservative...

Purpose

...Statement of Purpose I am the first in my family who ever went to college. Coming from a low-income African American family, I had to overcome many challenges to graduate from college. My experience at the University of Texas at Austin has been tremendous. It has opened up exciting possibilities for my life, including the opportunity to get a higher degree. I have always believed in education. Growing up in a poor neighborhood in Houston, Texas I saw so many young men and women disillusioned, and never had the opportunities to experience a good college education. We need to make higher education more accessible to the urban poor. This will require concerted efforts both at the level of the educational institutions and the low-income communities. I want to be part of this effort. I majored in ‘Youth and Community Studies’ with these aspirations in mind. As an undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Austin, I worked in a number of education related capacities, as – middle school STAAR tutor, physical education teacher assistant, sports counselor at the YMCA of Greater Austin and as basketball coach for middle and high school girls. My job experiences have given me a wonderful opportunity to learn and work with people of different cultures, lifestyles, beliefs, and backgrounds. In particular, my teaching, tutoring and coaching experiences at Austin Discovery School and YMCA of Austin gave me a good perspective of how public and private schools operate, deepening...

Teaching children who come to school hungry, stressed out, angry and sleepy interferes with the transfer of learning, even more, if the issues are compounded by other challenges such as language, speech, brain and other disorders. Today’s classrooms are more diverse as education is more inclusive (Mckay, 2012, p.1). The term “inclusion” have...
