Stay-At-Home Mom

I start my day off by feeding the kids Making sure the sippy cups have on their lids Sometimes it gets messy but that’s okay I never let it bring down my day Three beautiful faces, created by me And my husband of course, how else would it be? Staring at me as I do all the chores Cleaning the counters and mopping the floors Doing the laundry and cooking the meals With just one kiss, there’s nothing I can’t heal I’m super mom, that’s what the like to say With just one smile, they lighten up my day They’re amazed at my knowledge, at what I know Like math, and all the colors of the rainbow Science, English, and so much History The things I know, to them, are a mystery One day they might know more than I do For know they’re learning that cows go ‘Moo’ Two years old, my babies are getting big I watch them in the sandbox as they dig They are my kids, and I love them so Which is why I never want to go Back to work is not where I want to be So I quit my job to be ‘Mommy for three’ With my hair pulled back in a ponytail I wait for the mailman to bring the mail I lay down the kids; it’s time for their nap I watch some tv with the dog on my lap Watching three kids every day and night May seem like, for you, there’s no end in sight But don’t be scared to take on the mission It’s not too hard to get them to listen Just always smile and laugh and play Don’t get too worried about crayons or clay Just relax, sit back, and watch the kids run When they wear themselves out, your work is done

How I Feel About Moms That Stay Home

...HOW I FEEL ABOUT MOMS THAT STAY HOME Shane Sorensen Professor Barbara Hammons CHDV 115 6-10pm Mon, Wed HOW I FEEL ABOUT MOMS THAT STAY HOME Being a stay at home mother would seem like such a wonderful thing to enjoy, but in a world with many expectations and economic demands, it looks as though homes these days are missing one important ingredient, the mother. The mother is such an important role in a child’s life that without her needed nurturing, the child’s life could change dramatically for the worse. In what ways are mothers important? That’s what I would like to discuss, because there are many benefits to having a stay at home mom. The first way that comes to my mind is that the bond between mother and child is vital to the child’s mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual growth. First, let’s focus on their mental growth. Picture a child waking up every morning to a different face, never being able to bond or create a foundation for himself/herself. When that child gets into school, and tries to solve a problem, or fix a dispute between a friend, what if they don’t have the coping skills to work at that problem or relationship when they know that things in their own life are never routed or fixed steadily,(they won’t feel the importance of having steady lasting relationships etc.) they’ll never be able to develop the important skills like problem solving and bonding. Now I would like to focus on the physical aspects of a child’s growth...

...Stay at Home Moms -Breaking the Stereotypes 9/13/2015 In today’s society, no longer is it common for a woman to make the decision to stay at home and school her children. There was a time when this was far from taboo, but in the year 2015, stay at home mothers have found themselves in situations where they have to prove their worth. Women in the SAHMs (Stay at home mothers) community are labeled as lazy, are said to have it easy, are dumb, moochers, and many other stereo types. In all actuality the life of a SAHM is quite the contraire. In the 20th century the term “house wife” was more so used than the term Stay at home mom. Now, in the 21st century we changed that term because it seemed as if we knew nothing but the walls inside our homes. We are married to our husbands, not our houses. Women in the 1950’s rose to the term house wife and wore it proudly. During this time, the women who worked outside of the home were looked at as some scientific phenomenon that we didn't understand. The role of women in the 1950’s was repressive and constrictive in many ways. Society placed high importance and many expectations on behavior at home as well as in public. Women were supposed to fulfill certain roles, such as a caring mother, a diligent homemaker, and an obedient wife. The perfect mother was supposed to stay home and nurture so society would accept them. (R.C.2005) “Most of the time, when people ask, I tell them that I work from home. Technically this is true, because...

Working vs Stay at Home Mothers

... Header:  Working  vs.  Stay  Home  Mothers     1     Research Paper Working vs. Stay Home Mothers Joseph Ochoa Com/172 September 18, 2012 Brenda Caine    WORKING  VS.  STAY  HOME  MOTHERS   2   Children have such an amazing connection with their mothers, it is usually the first word they learn and the name they scream when they are hurt. Working mothers have stormed into the business world at full force in the last 20 years. This has had an impact on the children today, although mothers who stay home have more one on one time with their kids. According to Youngberg, “One significant, reoccurring issue specifically related to a mother’s decision of whether to be active in the workforce or be a stay-at-home mother involves the cognitive effects such a decision might have on children” (2011). While Children get as much attention at daycare as they would at home, stay at home mothers have a bigger impact than working moms. Mothers who work and mothers who stay home have the same busy lifestyle. Mothers need to get groceries, get the kids to baseball practice and better have a husband who is splitting the responsibilities to help take off the pressure. Mothers who work start taking their children to daycare at the young age of six to eight weeks. Heidi Brennan said on the Dr. Phil show “Children do not do well with large separations at a time” (Stay-At-Home Moms Vs. Working Moms, 2012). Because of the job that...

Nursing Home Reimbursement Analysis

...care systems, Medicaid has complained about reimbursements have been lower and if they become lower than quality car would suffer. However, if states set Medicaid nursing home reimbursement levels and the federal government make changes also think the quality of care will come down or suffer. The withdrawal of services will affect quality, if they are not covered or no longer funded than these services will no longer be provided. It seems that no matter what the reimbursement levels are it does not affect the quality of care given by the staff. The quality of care is still there, the options for seniors for long-term care types are independent living, retirement communities, care retirement communities, senior apartments, continuing care and nursing homes. Assisted living communities are for those seniors that can no longer live alone but do not need the care that nursing homes provide. These communities’ help with daily living, meals, medications and everyday living keep them living a normal life, but in a community that gives them help when needed. The nursing home long-term care provides round the clock skilled care....

Is It Better To Daycare Or Stay Home?

...daycare; but some do not, because their parents do not put them into a daycare when they are younger. It is not fair, some kids get that chance, and others do not. Nowadays, parents want to stay at home with their kids instead of going back to work after their maternity leave is over. Kids should only stay at home with either their mother or father for the first couple months of their life, and then they should be put into daycare. Studies have shown that it is better for your kids to go to daycare rather than stay home with the mothers, for multiple reasons. For many mothers it is very difficult to send their children off to daycare, but it will be more beneficial for the children and the mothers; if they get put into daycare facility....

Ad Analysis

...Ad Analysis The American Dream house isn’t a mansion, or a retro-modern loft in the city. The dream house is now a beautiful home in the suburbs where a mom can live with her children and the family pet. A house that is very organized, spotless, and can be a place where moms can relax. The most important aspect is the floor, where everyone in the house walks on. Floors get steam mopped, re-painted and waxed in order for it to stay spotless, shiny and perfect. In this advertisement from Better Homes and Gardens magazine, the company Pergo convinces moms that with any mayhem running around the house, moms don’t have to worry about them getting destroyed or stained on. Moms with Pergo flooring in their homes can have one less thing to worry about. Right in the middle of the advertisement there’s a cute little girl painting the nails of a Great Dane dog. Next to the girl a bottle of nail polish has been knockd over. She looks happy; She’s not even worried about the nail polish. The dog is looking straight at the audience, he looks tired. Above the dog and the girl you see a bold sentence saying “After a long day of running, he treats himself to a mani-pedi.” It states why the dog looks tired and tells the audience that he has run around all day so, like other days, it’s time to get his nails done. In the background the viewer sees a mom re-arranging flowers, indicating that she likes to keep the house spotless. Then in the bottom there’s a story that says that Pergo, the dog...

The use of public transportation sometimes makes him late for work and he is scared he may face loosing his job, therefore he is looking to purchase a used car for his commute. Mommy War And Media Analysis

...war” the so-called war between stay at home mothers and working mothers that is represented in the media (Graff, 2007). “Mommy Wars” are being played in the media because there are several articles that say if a mother doesn’t work, they are having a financial conflict and aren’t supporting their child the right way (Graff, 2007). Other articles state that if a mother does work, their child’s well-being is at risk and that they aren’t a good parent (Graff, 2007). Not only do news outlets display the “mommy wars,” tv shows and book publishers also display this division between working mothers and stay at home mothers (Graff, 2007). How Have Families Changed Today?

...also, instead of it usually being the mom. However, in English class when we took a gender roles survey, it indicated that 11 out of 15 people’s families were more traditional than modern. Having taken the survey myself, it was clear that my family is more traditional than modern because time. My dad, brother, and I are still the ones who do all the yard work while my mom and my sisters stay inside the house and do all the house cleaning. (Fig.1 shows that the majority of the class had more traditional families than modern families) Primarily, my family is more traditional because the cleaning is done by the woman during barbeques while my dad, brother, and I are outside grilling. For example, most of the time when it comes to cleaning up the house the women are the ones who do most of the cleaning on the inside. They also make sure that the house is cleaned well and go back after cleaning it to make sure they didn’t miss anything that was supposed to be cleaned. In addition, the men are the ones in charge of doing all the yard work outside and are also in charge of starting the grill when it is time to cook. My dad, brother, and I are the ones that who are also in also in charge of watching the grill and take turns to make sure that the meat doesn’t burn. The only reason my mom, or any women come outside during barbeques is too bring more meat from inside or beer for the men but other than that the men stay outside and the women stay inside. In summary, because most of the...

Reading Analysis Ch 14 & 16

...I have been a stay at home mother off and on since my first child was born 16 years ago. I heard constantly that being a stay at home mom is not right. I should be out there working and helping to support my family. A friend of mine has never been unemployed since she was 16. When she went on maternity leave about two years ago, she graduated college with a degree in teaching while on leave. After her six weeks of maternity leave, she found a full-time substitute position at an elementary school which led to a contract the next school year. The same people that ridiculed me for being a stay at home mom then ridiculed her for leaving her child at daycare so she could work. She has a wonderful husband who is involved in every aspect of her and their child’s life. They both spend equal amounts of time being a parent, individually and together. I see no suffering from the child because he does not have a stay at home mom. What I do see is a happy, healthy, well cared for, and loved child who has two very loving and involved parents, just as my children have and are, even though I am a stay at home mom. According to Nancy Chodorow, to have happy, healthy, and well balanced children both parents should be equally responsible for raising their children and both work outside the home. I partially agree with her theory. I agree that both parents should be equally responsible in raising their children, however, I do not agree that in order to raise happy, healthy, and well balanced children...
