“The Case for Reparations by Ta-Nehisi Coates is about a gentleman named Clyde Ross. It explains how his situation has always been unfavorable. He learned at a young age about how racist people could be and how the laws didn’t always work out fairly for everyone. Trying to escape this reality he moved on. While moving on did change the way some people treated him, he still faced some of the injustices that Blacks face such as unfair pricing for houses. In the second paragraph, how whites always have the upper hand is discussed. It doesn’t matter if blacks are making the same amount or even more than whites, none of it will matter, besides the skin color. It is unfair how the houses would be bought for about $10,000 less than what they were sold to the blacks for. Of course a profit has to be made, but that pricing was unfair. On top of the high price that already had to paid, the monthly bills would be high too and if they were not paid then the homeowner would just be kicked out with nothing. At least some of the money could have been given back to the homeowners. Blacks were already not allowed to get a mortgage, so why make things harder by eventually tricking them out of their home by adding additional costs to the bill. Contract sellers continued making the worse out of a bad situation by not paying for repairs even though it was their duty, which added other additional costs to the bill. The worst part about it is that nothing could be done to help this situation. It’s not like you can just call a lawyer and have them settle things for you, because whatever was on the housing contract you signed is what you signed up
