...Technology is a Positive Influence in the Education Field Everywhere you look there are computer games, but it just isn’t the fun computer games anymore, they are making more and more learning programs. I have seen learning programs from the preschool level all the way up to the college level. I think this is wonderful it gives children or young adults the chance to practice at home or even before the class the starts, it gives you a little introduction. I have a six year old sister who uses those programs all the time, and they help her. When she was in preschool it helped her count and now the levels are getting harder now that she is in first grade. My family, me especially because I am going into the education field think that these programs are very beneficial, they help the students get a good grasp on things. I think technology has positively impacted the education field. When I see my little sister practice and play on the computer I can tell it is helping her in her school work, but at the same time she is enjoying it. Because it is on the computer it doesn’t feel like she is doing homework or school work, but in her mind she is playing on the computer, for fun. I know for the most part many people use these programs as an introduction to a course or for a certain grade level. This helps the student prepare themselves for the up coming tasks. These computer programs allow students to get their feet wet before they go in for the dive. During my senior year...

...Addicted to Technology What does addiction mean? Well, if you look up on internet you will find many definitions to it as "The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or involved in something" or "A compulsive physiological and psychological need for a habit-forming substance". When you say the word addiction the first thing that come in people's mind is drugs, but you can be addict to many things besides drugs you don't even know. Many people could be addict to work, video games, social network, food or even shopping. People who are truly addicted generally have a compulsion to do something and cannot limit the amount. I think some activities are more addictives than others, but it depends on people's interests. Some people feel better playing video game than eating or shopping, some people rather spending time on computer than studying. I am not crazy for computer or video games but I love going to the gym. I go to the gym every day to look better, when I miss a day I feel guilty and bad about myself. Am I addicted to working out? Well I don't think I am addicted to working out because so far it is not interfering with my job, relationship, or other important daily activities. I don't plan my entire day around my visits to the gym. I don't think I could replace my family, friends or work for something that I liked to do. I believe that technology brought to our world two new kind of addictions: video games and computer. Some video games allow the gamers...

...communication issues with my children, I am writing this paper again and will have to redo all of my presentation. When I started this class, I was stunned because I thought I knew everything I needed about communication. Well as you can guess, I was wrong I have learned quite a bit along this long journey through Introduction to Communication. I am here writing about some of the key points of communication that I have learned and hopefully I will be able to show you that I was able to learn from you and your course. This last week we have been learning about diversity, ethics, technology and mass communication. These four words seem to not have anything in common, right? Well, that is what I thought until I began to read and research all four of these words. I looked all through our Chapters and I had a really hard time finding the best meaning of diversity, so after more research I found the perfect answer. Diversity is the inclusion of individuals, representing more than one national origin, color, religion; a point of difference. Another good example to the meaning of diversity would be variety, or a range of difference. The next word is ethics and my favorite meaning to this is; a branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and end of such actions. The third word we leaned about is technology, and I am well aware that everyone knows the meaning...

...in a world where technology is forever increasing and impacts our everyday lives. IPads, IPods, laptops, computers, YouTube, Facebook, are all things we all are familiar with and probably use every day. Not one day goes by without me surfing the internet. People exercise the use of our technology to make their lives easier. Technology can be defined as the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science (Dictionary.com). The computer, for example, is a common resource I use every day, even for the simplest tasks. Research, navigation, weather, sports, whatever it may be, have never been so easy. I find out now that I am in college, just how essential technology is. I believe the role of technology in college and careers is to create higher education, help make things more accessible, thus making our jobs or learning experiences easier and enjoyable for people but, just as technology may be beneficial to people, there can also be some hindrances. Technology is beneficial to me in college in so many ways. To begin with, technology helps me learn and get my school work done efficiently. By using laptops, smartphones, IPods, and things such as those, I believe my learning is better because I am more of a visual learner and growing up in this day and age, it is something that I am fairly comfortable...

...scale of one to ten I would say my addiction level is a five. However compared to Ms. Stites, I would give myself a three. Ms. Stites is one of the most addicted persons I have ever heard of. Social media is fun and its good to connect with friends, but it shouldn’t be used to stalk others or find random people. I chose five because I don’t think that I am one to use too much technology. I’m average at best. The reason why I believe I’m average is because the most I do is play video games online, look at funny pictures on the internet, and use my phone. I do tend to spend most of my time on the games though. That’s the worst thing when it comes to addiction for me. I don’t think I could live without my video games. That’s my source of entertainment. I’m sure others would rather go to parties and concerts. If you put a controller in my hand, ill be good for the week. Our objective was to compare our selves to stites who is a crazy ten. Then compare myself to students in our class. The amount of internet usage I had was a total of fifty hours. I spent the whole week playing video games for thirty-five hours. I spent time on my computer for eight hours and looked at funny pictures for two hours on my phone. I have also Skyped on my phone for three hours and listened to my Pandora for two hours. I usually play video games around the clock. When it comes to my video games I play whenever I can. I could play for hours if I didn’t have other things to do. When I compare myself to others...

...science? How did this lead you to major in computer science and what do you hope to accomplish with your degree? In your answer, please describe how your experiences have influenced the goals you have for yourself. My interest in computer science started when I was a young child. I’ve always been interested in using the computer, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be born at the precipice of the technological age. This has allowed me to grow up alongside technology, getting bigger while technology helped the world get smaller. I am completely comfortable with technology and have an aptitude for figuring my way around any piece of technology. Using the computer feels natural to me; it feels like where I should be centering my hard work, ambition, and focus. When deciding a major for college, I...

...Nintendo Case Study 1. Imagine that you are charged with designing a successor to the Wii. Briefly describe the new-product strategy you might use. If I was in charge of designing the successor to the Wii I would expand how interactive the system is. Right now when playing games such as baseball you can use the remote as a bat and swing the remote to have the character on the screen swing, or when playing Mario cart you can use the remote like a steering wheel and turn it to make the vehicle you are controlling turn. I would take it a step farther and use the technology that Microsoft has just recently came out with. Microsoft has a add on to its system called Kinect. This technology uses a 3 cameras sensors and 4 microphones which helps it recognize who is standing in front of it. I would not want to go completely away from how the system is now, I would just want to expand the possibilities. Using this technology would allow users to participate more in games that include running, you could race someone and even jump over hurdles. You could also have fun with games like boxing which would allow the user to have better control over what type of punch to throw or dodging an opponents punches. The possibilities are endless but I wouldn’t like to race a car like this there would not be an advantage which is why the current system should remain in place for such games like this. 2. How might the diffusion process differ between the Wii and its competitors? Since the Wii already...

...KEEP TECH IN SCHOOLS Ever since I first started to go to school I found myself loosing focus in class, the only time I paid attention was when we watched a movie or there was some sort of interaction involved. When I was in middle school I was introduced to computers and I felt something that I had not felt before, I was being challenged more and at the same time I was gaining knowledge that would help me later on in school and personal life. Technology is advancing at a great pace, and newer generations are starting to grasp technology at an early age. Paul's article is very flawed and it has a very close minded point and I disagree with her because technology is the future and if we teach children at early ages to master it they will be more productive in life, not to mention more productive in the classrooms as well. Technology is present in every aspect of our lives and it has a very strong impact on our daily routine. Kids nowadays have a lot of electronic devices such as; iPod, ipads, mp3 players, smart phones, etc. as well as having technology in school like computer labs and online classes. In her article the author, Annie Murphy Paul, and development psychologist from UCLA Patricia Greenfield, explore the impact of technology in schools and Greenfield claims that “There is the formal education that young people receive in school, she maintains, and the “informal education” they receive through their devices.” The formal education is of course the classroom lecture...

(Scene 1: Steve Jobs and his partner Steve Wozniak) Narrator: In 1975, Atari, a global entertainment company, hired Steve Jobs and Wozniak to create a game called Breakout. Steve Jobs: We have been hired by Atari! They want us to create a game; this is what we need! to start linking our company with others! Wozniak: Wow! That is great! When is the deadline? Steve Jobs: (scratches head, and looks away, saying:) in 4 days Wozniak: What? can you repeat that? Steve Jobs: 4 days! Look, with your design skills and my skills, I am sure that we can accomplish this. It will be a piece-of-cake! Don’t tell me you don’t want this? Wozniak: well… yes, but 4 days is insane!... Steve Jobs: Look Woz, it sounds crazier than it is? this is your chance! Where else will they hire you without a college degree to design? Wozniak: i suppose we could do it. we should get to it then. Steve Jobs: There you go… I don’t take no for an answer. Narrator: Jobs and Wozniak immediately started working on the game called Breakout. They pulled 4 all-nighters, but the game was completed just on time. After Atari reviewed the game, they paid Steve Jobs. (Steve Jobs and Wozniak conversing) Steve Jobs: Well the game wasn’t so good. Main areas in my research, I expect to conduct is online dating statistics, dangers of online dating and advantages and disadvantages of online dating and finding out if anyone has been successful or unsuccessful at using online dating sites including Tinder, Match, eHarmony, PlentyOfFish, OkCupid, Zoosk, ChristianMingle and BlackPeopleMeet. The relevance of this film is to show the experiences of people whether good or bad through the use of online dating. What motivates me to explore this topic is, I have participated in online dating and have been unsuccessful in finding someone. Dating sites, I used are Tinder, OkCupid.com and ChristianMingle.com. Creative models that have impacted my thinking are Dan Slater (Author) and Laura Scotty (Filmmaker). Dan Slater is the author of “Love in the Time of Algorithms: What Technology Does to Meeting and Mating”. Slater believes the use of online dating has changed society. In the book he explains how a basic need for human intimacy has transformed into a two billion dollar industry and how technology fits into this traditional methods of dating. Laura Scotty is the director of Digital Dating, which is a documentary film about the immense popularity of online dating. Laura explores the massive appeal of online dating sites from Tinder to Plenty of Fish and meets users who use the sites. Some questions that interest me is finding out what do people look for in...

...Assessment activity 3.3 In this assignment I am going to be explaining how and why groups of customers are targeted for selected products, I am going to pick 6 different target markets and for two of them will be business to business markets. Saga over 50’s insurance For the first target market I am going to be looking at Saga over 50’s, they offer life insurance, health insurance, car insurance, home insurance, travel insurance, cruise holidays, tour holidays, savings, bank accounts, saga magazines and cheap UK trips, they are all very important when you look at their target market which are over 50’s, the average pension pay-out is £113 a week, and when you hit 80 you get a 25p increase, regarding the holidays, they are offering cheaper holidays and cheap cruises and 25% of UK trips. Saga Insurance is a good investment. Seniors and older people may find that a fixed income investment comes with less financial risk. It allows them to have a fixed monthly income, this is perfect for retirement. Health insurance- Although the NHS does a wonderful job, many people choose private health insurance to speed up diagnosis and treatment. Private health insurance also gives you much greater choice about where, when and by whom you’ll be treated. Saga target this age group by offering these service because they are discounted and are suited to a pensioners pay out. • Quick referral to a consultant • Access to prompt treatment- at a private hospital of your choice from our extensive...

...Technology has changed the way we as humans live; it changes our understanding of the way things work and changes the way we interact with one another. Technology was once opposed but is now somewhat welcomed into our homes. During the renaissance period, technology was opposed, as the church believed that technology would oppose the beliefs of god. Well they were right. Technology isn’t just computers or TV’s, its engineering science. And in Science, our goal is to progress and understand everything there is to understand about us, our planet and beyond. However, the way we understand and experience this concept the most is that its just to make our lives much more efficient. When you look around, what do you see? Just at an intersection in downtown New York or Los Angeles, you see people walking around with cell phones and carrying around laptop cases, other’s just listening to music. But then the companies that build these types of technology want to make them better and more efficient. So they keep releasing new devices that are smaller and faster and mostly more costly. Technology is a concept that will never end. new devices will be released and then refined just about endlessly. Not even if or when we start running out of resources, because we would have recycled parts to build new technology and we will build new technology to possibly refine available resources or even find another planet that has the same resources. Technology now is a concept that we cannot survive...

...alternative to traditional education. Due to advancements in technology nowadays we have a possibility to choose between learning via the internet and attending schools. According to some experts, distance learning has effectively facilitated academic education and society should refuse from the traditional school attendance. However not everybody agree with it. In my opinion, we should to learn in the traditional form of education. First of all, it is vitally important that schooling makes students more self-disciplined and sociable. Studying in school provide students with numerous opportunities to interact with tutors as well as their peers, which tend to increase their interpersonal and social skills. Secondly, extra-curricular activities, such as various hiking, sport competitions, offered by traditional schooling, not only teach students how to compete and compromise, but also improve their mental and physical health. On the contrary, there are people who believe that distant learning is much better than traditional education. They insist that distance learning helps the disabled to receive education at home. Nevertheless, let us consider this issue from another angle. I am sure that the impacts of distance learning are generally detrimental, because using Internet can reduce our vision, students have low physical activity, which can lead to serious diseases. Taking into consideration all mentioned above, I think that traditional education with attending schools is not...

...Technology ruins the childhood When I look at my son, he seems to be so happy. I am trying hard to give him everything, make his life happier. I think that everybody is doing the same.... But is that the right thing to do? Are we actually teaching our kids how to play....without toys, TV, internet, and all these people and rules telling them how to play? Or maybe we just deprive their imagination? I remember when I was young...that was not really a long time ago Everything was different. I did not need stuff to be happy. When I was the same age as my son, soon after sunrise I was running away from home to see my friends. If my parents were lucky I came back home before it got dark. Today, kids instead of spending time outdoors are sitting in front of computers. It seems to me that kids choose video games because they are easier than the normal old fashioned games. In virtual reality, anyone can be for example a football star. Playing delivers more fun when it is virtual, as you achieve greater success, when in reality only a few manage to stay famous people. But in all that there is not much room for invention and imagination. Children spend too much time in front of screens (television, internet, mobile phones). That might form an opinion about basically everything. They could learn behaviours from reality shows like big brother, vulgar language, watch pornography, prohibited videos showing how to kill, take drugs or even be threatened and abused. Too much...

...Addicted to Video Games When you think of video games, you don’t think of an addiction, but video games can be as addictive as gambling or alcohol. When my son was around 3 years old, I bought a PlayStation video game system and he would sit and watch me play. One day my son asked me if he could play, it was a 2 player game, so I showed him how to play. I would play from time to time, and as time went on he became better and better. It was like nothing I had ever seen, he was a natural. As the years went by and my son grew older, he was playing more games and he had asked for a Nintendo Gameboy. He soon grew bored of it, he asked for a Nintendo Wii for Christmas and Santa made his wish come true. As the months went by, as a reward for doing chores he would receive a game instead of money. Before long, he had every accessory and he had received 22 games. The years passed and again he grew bored of the Wii, so he asked for the Xbox 360 video game system, and of course I gave in. He became more involved in playing games as the years went by. He always would ask for the newest games, the newest wireless controllers, or headsets. He began to play more in the multiplayer online game venues, and had a list of friends from all over the world. He plays the Xbox any and every chance he gets, beating complete games in as little as 4 hours, or playing campaigns in the online multiplayer area for hours on end. When he plays the game so much, it tends to get in the way of his everyday...
