In this age of change, the human society is progressing rapidly on various fronts. However, in the meantime, "terrorism" has become American monomania since the September 11 attack, it has caused widespread concern. In this essay, I will analyze some possible cause and effect of terrorism.
The first reason is that some people pressured by weak economic condition. Social contradictions have become increasingly, which lead to the development of terrorism. Because of economic recession and unemployment, diverse young people hope struggle to reality and give vent to a terrorist incident.
What is more, lots of ethnic contradictions do not get a satisfactory solution. Take Israelis and Palestinians as an example, a small number of radical Palestinian organizations suicide terrorist attacks to the Israeli soldier's horrendous bombardment, because the new Israeli government carries out stringent policy on Palestinians.
The third and very important factor is that terrorism is the result of religious and cultural conflict. In the recent years, there is no denying the fact that the Islamic Revival Movement has the greatest influence on a lot of Muslim nations. With the development of information industry, Western culture began to penetrate into some Muslim countries, for instance, Christianity have access to these Muslim countries, which cannot accepted by extreme fundamentalists, they are strongly opposed to the non-Muslim culture heresy and called for the full realization of the Islamization.
Terrorism affects a nation in numerous aspects. Terrorism affects the economy, policy and poses a serious threat to social security.
First and foremost, international terrorist attacks affecting the growth of the world economy. By the example of the September 11 attack had large commercial consequences for the United States and world marketplaces. " Kr898 (2008) demonstrated that When the stock markets reopened on September 17, 2001, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ("DJIA") stock market index fell 684 points, or 7.1%, to 8920, its biggest-ever one-day point decline. By the end of the week, the DJIA had fallen 1369.7 points (14.3%), its largest one-week point drop in history. U.S. stocks lost $1.2 trillion in value for the week."
Besides, terrorism intensifies social contradictions and endangers the security of political leaders to influence the governmental stability. For instance, from 1975 to 1990, many types of terrorist activities appeared in Lebanon, such as, explosions, assassinations, kidnapping and hostage-taking, as a result, society into a long-term turmoil, the large number of civilian injured and some political party leaders were killed. Thus, domestic political conflicts and religious conflicts become more and more complicated; the country plunged into civil war.
In the last, terrorism causes social security, affecting the collective stability. The September 11 attack is the most serious terrorist attacks on this day, which killed more than three thousand people. A huge amount of people around the world saw the terrorist events by the Western media's advocacy, terrible scenes repeated play also exacerbated the terror effect, and it had a negative impact on the public, which made people uneasy.
To sum up, terrorism is attributed to a lot of factors, such as, the gap between rich and poor, ethnic conflicts and religious conflict. Terrorism affects the security of the neighboring countries; greatly hinder the country's economic development and social progress. In addition, ethnic harmony is destructive and caused unrest. Therefore, various countries should take effective measures to diminish and reply terrorist incidents.
