The best holiday ever
My best holiday was when I went to San Diego, California with my family. When my dad told me I was very exited, because it was going to be my first time in the United State of America. I took a month break of school and went to America with my family. I was going to see some members of my family, who I had never met before in my whole live. I was exited to see my family and on the other hand I was exited to see America.

We flew in the morning. I can not tell why, but I have always enjoyed getting up in the morning and getting ready to drive to the airport. I can not explain the feeling I get, but there is one thing I know, it is a wonderful feeling.

The flight was nine hours long. I was tired when we arrived in the airport in San Diego, California. We took our suitcases and left the airplane. I saw some people waving to us, I knew immediately that they were from my family. It was one of the best parts of the holiday. I had never met them before, so I was a little bit shy in the beginning, but I overcame the feeling, after we arrived at their home. The first day we relaxed because we were tired. The next day we went to museums and took a lot of pictures. There was a guide, who told us everything about the tings in the museums. It was instructive. I love to be at museums, that is the best thing I know. Some days after we went to the beach. It was a huge beach with thousands of people. There were people from Denmark, Germany and many other countries. It was the most beautiful beach I ever had seen. Our stay in San Diego was about 15 days long, and then we had plans to see our family in Michigan, Detroit. We bought some tickets and flew to Michigan.

In Michigan airport, our family picked us up, I had not seen them before either. It was great to meet them. We did not do much that day, as the flight had made us tired. But the next day, we

Holiday

...Ariel O’Brien 10/23 Every once a year, someone always has that one tradition they like to do on a holiday. Well, mine so happens to be on Christmas. Every year on Christmas, my family and I like to play fun games after opening our presents and done having dinner. Some may have the same thing every year just like my family, but in my opinion, I don’t think it’s the actual same. My family and I like to be different every year. Even though we still buy each other gifts, there are some things we just buy for the fun games! Every year we try to come up with a new game, sometimes we play cards to win a gift. The fun about winning one of those gifts is that it’s not something that you expected, for example, a tissue box or maybe even a candle because it can be random. It’s the best to have a random gift because later on, we actually might just use it, which makes the fun out of the random gift. People also have their own types of recipes, mine so ever tries different things every year because my family and I like to switch up things every once in awhile and try something new. We usually look up recipes in a cook book or the internet and would bring it to each other’s houses. My family and I like to try new things every year because we wouldn’t want to get bored with the same thing every year something new is also exciting! My family and I also like to visit each other’s houses so we wouldn’t get bored going to the same one house every year. Before opening...

Holiday Fire Hazards

...Holiday Fire Hazard Saint Leo University HRA330 Holiday Fire Hazards The holiday season is typically observed from late November to early January. Events that are usually celebrated during this time include Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa. During this time many people choose to celebrate these holidays by decorating their homes with electric lights, candles, banners, wreaths and the ever so famous Christmas tree. These decorations are meant to spread cheer and joy but unfortunately may increase the chances of fire in the home. Based on data from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), in 2011 there were an estimated 240 home fires involving Christmas trees and another 150 home fires involving holiday light. Together, these fires resulted in 21 deaths and $25.2 million in direct property damage. Each year, newspapers have tragic stories of families killed during the holiday season by fired ignited by the family Christmas tree and other holiday decorations. Typically, shorts in electrical lights or open flames from candles, lighters or matches start tree fires. A dried out live tree is easily combustible. Candles, which carry open flames, that are not properly placed can be knocked over and ignite anything flammable around them. Pixie lights can also be fire culprits during the holiday season often due to improper use. Many people tend to overload the extension cords they use for their holiday lights...

Post-Depression: A Poem Analysis

...Post-Holiday-Depression-Zack-AhernDoes the holiday season bring out the Scrooge in you? Depression get you down? Cold comfort that there are millions of people like you out there, right? There's just no safety in numbers with this thing. Many familiar with depression will know what I mean when I say sunny days are the worst. Yeah, sure, the birds are chirping, the kids are playing, and in the summer, you can hear the drone of lawnmowers in the distance. But with sunny days come obligations. You're expected to be productive and enjoy the day. Let's be real: Birds poop on your car, kids are loud and annoying, and freshly cut grass unleashes your hay fever. Yes, sunny days put a lot of pressure on a person. Conversely, cold, rainy or snowy days...

Project Management Swot

...~~~~~~ Part A. ~~~~~~ TRAVEL AGENCY Strengths: characteristics of the business or project that give it an advantage over others. Weaknesses: characteristics that place the business or project at a disadvantage relative to others Opportunities: elements that the project could exploit to its advantage Threats: elements in the environment that could cause trouble for the business or project Strengths: Previously a travel agent was relied upon for necessity, there were no options, but as the internet became more prevalent people were still reluctant to part with their cash. From there, the Celtic tiger era created a mix of people wanting a near budgetless (!) trip arranged for them, by the travel agent, and people who wanted to do it themselves, we then moved into a recession era where people who had the money wanted to ensure its security by entrusting it with a travel agent over the black hole that is the internet! As you can see throughout the economics highs and lows a travel agent is viewed and relied upon as a staple, albeit variably. Loyalty was a key factor in the survival of many agencys, one story that stayed with me was a client who was in the construction industry and went bust during the recession, leaving a lot of debt behind. The MD of the company came to us hat in hand apologising and expressing embarrassment etc, but he went on to ensure that all future personal bookings and his friends & family’s bookings were made through us – out of...

Finances During Black Friday

...shopping day of the year”. The day right after Thanksgiving where everyday citizens rush to any store they can think of to start their holiday shopping. But with this exciting day, comes an almost unexpected loss of money. How much are people really spending for their gifts? Is the amount spent by the average household healthy? Are consumers paying closer attention to their financial situation when shopping? Black Friday may be a day of gathering presents for under the Christmas tree, but finances are ultimately hindered by one cheerful and hectic day. The amount people spend during the Black Friday sales have reached new heights. According to CNN.com/Money the average consumer spends about $398 to $423 dollars in just one evening. If calculated nation wide that would be anywhere between 52.4 billion and 59.1 billion dollars. Part of the reason that so much money is spent during Black Friday actually has something to do with the store hours. Recently stores have noticed that pushing the event up to Thanksgiving Day and extending it a few hours after the day itself increases sales, which is ultimately good for their businesses. CNN also states that due to hours being moved up to 8 P.M. on Thanksgiving Day that the amount of customers has risen an additional 5.6%. Not only are sales going up in stores, online shopping increases during the four day holiday weekend, 21% of online purchases were due to Black Friday sales. Each year the amount spent overall continues to rise, How much is...

Christmas Time

...lights. The color of dead pine needles cover the living room carpet, the scent of a freshly baked goodies and pine fills the air as you open your front door. These are all parts of Christmas that make it such a unique and memorable holiday. Family is something that Christmas would not be the same without. Christmas is exponentially fun for me because I get to see all of my family and have a great time with them as well. One of my favorite people to spend Christmas with was my Uncle Ed who unfortunately passed away just before Christmas in 2005. He always made my Christmas seasons extra special. Every year Uncle Ed would purchase an unknown amount of scratch off lottery tickets to give as gifts to me, my family and his friends. He always placed two of them in each envelope and handed them out to my dad, grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and step mom until he passed away. The best year by far for the lottery tickets was in 2004. It was the year that I won big! I had picked the best envelope ever, the Grand Daddy, as I like to call it. When I scratched off those tickets my eyes lit up and all I could do was jump up and down while screaming from the excitement! I had won a total of seven-hundred dollars! That Christmas had to be one of the greatest ever because the “high-rolling” tradition had finally paid out for me! Aside from getting us lottery tickets every year, Uncle Ed was just an all-around great person. He was always smiling and enjoying Christmas with me and everyone...

Holidays and Celebrations

...Holidays and Celebrations The book “All Around the Year” by Jack Santino is about the holidays and celebrations in America and how different decorations have different meanings. It follows the change of the seasons and the holidays that fall during those times. The books starts off by telling the reader that everyone views holidays differently and that everyone has their own celebrations besides the main ones like Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have anniversaries and birthdays, ethic holidays and occupational celebrations. Depending on how you were raised and what religion you are decides some holidays you choose to celebrate or ignore and how you would decorate for the time of year. Chapter two is about holiday symbols and meaning. It talks about the kitchen being the center of the house, it is always decorated to go along with the seasons and the food that is created and baked to feed the family throughout the year. There are colors that represent different times of the year and you will always find the warm colors of changing seasons in the kitchen because the woman is customarily in charge of it. It talks about when they start decorating for different holidays and how long it will be before they come down. Neighbors compete against each other to have the most elaborate or most creative decorations for the holidays. It is a never ending battle to have the best of everything. Chapter three is about the winter and spring months. Winter has the shortest days and coldest...

A Visit to an Interesting Place in Malaysia

...During the semester holidays, my siblings and I were quite in the dumps because there was nothing to do and we were bored to death. Out of the blue, my parents decided to take us to the National Park in Pahang. The Pahang National Park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Malaysia. It is known far and wide for its beauty. As the saying goes, "Seeing is believing", I had yearned to go there for many years and it seemed like my dream was coming true. In Pahang, we stayed in a motel. It was a traditional building with lots of exquisite carvings and designs. The next morning, we went to the National Park by jeep. The jalopy wheezed up and down the bumpy road, it was on the verge of breaking down. When we finally reached our destination, we heaved a sign of relief. When I stepped into the park, I was thunderstruck. It was beautiful, more beautiful than I had ever imagined! Green trees towered over colourful flowers. Birds were chirping and squirrels played on the mossy ground. The majestic Gunung Tahan loomed in the background, a king reigning over his subjects. Palm trees swayed their leafy arms as the breeze blew, a sign of welcome. This was truly Mother Nature at her best. Amid all this splendour, I seemed just to be just a tiny being admiring a huge palace. In the National Park, it was very cool and peaceful. After being in the bustling city with its noisy traffic, the silence was music to my ears. The hectic days in the city were replaced by soothing walks...
