The orb gathering teams are only for the best trained soldiers and the few lucky people who have the skills for conducting the orbs. Adam begins military training from scratch but despite that he spends most of his time in the cafeteria cleaning dishes. Brik, the lieutenant of the military unit doesn’t have big expectations for Adam, but to Brik's biggest surprise, does Adam discovers that he has skills for conducting orbs and is therefore asked to join the gathering team under Brik's command. Meanwhile at home a dark soul is beginning to take its shape, for Valephor is on the road to use the power of the orbs for wicked purposes.
What is the setting?

The earth is a dangerous place, it is full of flesh eating creatures and monsters. Because of that, the human race has found alternatives for their way of living. High above the dangerous earth are cities floating in the sky. Magical stones called orbs are the most precious things in this world. These stones can break the laws of physics and can be used in many creative ways.
It is with their powers that the humans have moved their cities to the sky.
People who are experts at preserving these orbs are called conductors. Without them, a terrible catastrophe would befall this magical floating city.

The environment looks like London in about the 1800th century. But as mentioned, the cities are floating in the sky like separate islands with houses and streets. The way they survive is to send a special trained group of people down to the surface to get food and fresh water. To get down to the ground, they use big, special trained birds to transport them back and forth.

Through this world, we follow a quite intelligent young boy named Adam. Adam has only seen the surface from the sky and his biggest dream is to become one of the food gathers and explore the world first hand.

Fantasy Universe – character sketches

Valephor
Is a young but talented conductor who has been studying the potential of the magical orbs for quite a while. His hair is black and he was born with beautiful white skin and dark blue eyes. The reason for his dedicated research was in the beginning pure curiosity but soon after learning the immense power of these stones, he started to think of wicked ways to use the magical stones to obtain power for himself and therefore his heart begun to get tainted by the darkness. Valephor likes to be out at night because of preference. He is secretly in love with a young woman from the city called Cefeide and he is also childhood friends with the main character Adam.

After moving my bag, I close my eyes again while the sounds of the music fill my head and all the stress disappears. A few seconds later the train comes to a sudden stop making everyone jerk forward. I remove my earphones; everyone is questioning what is going on. The train conductor makes an announcement from the loudspeaker ensuring us that everything is fine and to remain in our seats while the train is started back up. I put my earphones back in since clearly they are just going through technical difficulties. Listening to my music once again, trying to remove all my problems, I feel a small rumble under my feet. My eyes shoot up I look around to see if anyone else felt it, no one is acting out of the ordinary so I ensure myself that it was nothing. I close my eyes, yet again, to try to enjoy my music. A few seconds later the floor really begins to rumble and shake. While people start panicking the conductor makes another announcement, Philadelphia Pennsylvania is undergoing its...

...of two parts, a tone generator and a probe. These are sometimes referred to as a fox and hound wire tracer. With a standard jack, you connect to the cable the unit that transmits a signal, or, with an alligator clip, you connect the unit to an individual wire. The other unit is an inductive amplifier, which is a pen like probe that emits an audible tone when touched to the other end of the conductor. Tone generators are most often used to locate a specific connection in a punch-down block. Using a tone generator is extremely time-consuming and it is nearly as prone to errors as the cable installation. Time-Domain Reflectometers A TDR is the primary tool used to determine the length of a copper cable and to locate the impedance variations that are caused by opens, shorts, damaged cables, and interference with other systems. There are two basic types of TDRs available: those that display their results as a waveform on an LCD screen and those that use a numeric readout to indicate the distance to source of impedance. You can use a TDR to test any kind of cable the uses metallic conductors. A high quality TDR can detect a...

Utilitarianism

...Renee Montaque 1.2 M2 Why copper is used in electrical cables Mobiles have lots of different metals in them for example, Copper is used for electrical circuits and they are good conductors. Silver is used for switches on a circuit board and phone buttons because it's a really great conductor. Gold is used for the surface of the circuit board and a connector. Tantalum is used in electronic components and it allows scientists to make small mobiles and phones have palladium, aluminium and iron in them too. Copper combines several propeties that have traditionally made it preferred for most electrical wiring. Copper is a good electrical condctor, provides a good contact surfae, is ductile (is easily bent repeatedly without breaking) and it is not too expresnive. Copper wire is also relatively easy to manufaacture, and there is a lng history of using it. However, other materials can and are used for electrical wiring. Furthermore, in the future it is reasonable to ecpect that copper will fall out of favour as new and better means of conducting electricity are better developed perfected. Ref: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why is copper used for electrical wires Why is motor oil important for engine oil We put oil in our engines to serve several purposes. First, obviously, oil acts as a lubricant. If your engine is oprating correctluy, there is almost no metal to metal contact – everything is ridding on a thin film of oil. Resistance and Resistivity

...solutions are very good conductors of electricity. Metals with higher numbers of delocalized electrons have higher conductivities than those with fewer delocalized electrons. For example, aluminium is more conductive than copper which is also more conductive than copper. When an electric current is applied to a conductor, the delocalized electrons assume a directed motion depending on the polarity of the potential difference. As the electrons move, they collide and bombard with atoms and molecules of the conducting material, thereby creating heat (T. B. Theraja). Materials which offer higher hindrance to the flow of electrons on application of a potential difference are called poor conductors of electricity. Examples of poor conductors are: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), dry wood, rubber, glass and mica. Insulators are used in the coating of conductors to prevent electrical shocks .Resistance is measured in ohms denoted Ω. Depending on the degree of resistances other commonly used units are; mega-ohms (M Ω), kilo-ohms (k Ω), mill-ohms (m Ω) and micro-ohms (μ Ω) (T. B. Theraja). Resistance of a material is derived from the factors affecting it. According to the laws of resistance, resistance is directly proportional to length, l, and inversely proportional to the cross-sectional area of the conductor. It also depends on the nature of the material and the temperature of the material. Thus resistance of a conductor is given by: R= ρlA ρ is the resistivity of the conductor material, l is the...

Cost of conducting Material 18 B. Mass of conducting Material 18 C. Volume of Conducting Material 19 V. Conclusion: 19 Abstract: The purpose of this project is to design a shielded room. The room should be built in a way so that high-frequency waves cannot penetrate into the room. The material that should be used are nonconducting, nonmagnetic material with a thin coating of conducting material on the outer surface. The conducting layers that can be used are made of aluminum, copper, mu-metal, or conducting polymer. Frequency=10 MHz ω=2∙π∙f=2∙π∙(10× 〖10〗^6 )=62.83×〖10〗^7 [rad⁄s] The shielded room must reduce the electric field intensity by a factor of 〖10〗^6 There are different cases other than the material we should consider, we should also consider the type of incidence the electric field is at, and for that we have a couple of different cases which include: Normal Incidence Oblique incidence (sub divided into) Parallel polarization. Perpendicular polarization Question 1 Using professional sources (the book) we obtained the conductivity, permeability, cost, and density of the following four materials Table 1: Table of values Material Conductivity [σ] Permeability [μ] Density [kg/m^3] Cost [Unit/Kg] Aluminum 3.6 × 〖10〗^7 µ0 2700 1.5 Copper 5.7 × 〖10〗^7 µ0...

We compared the currents of NaCl solution under the microwave irradiation with the one under non-microwave irradiation under the same temperature. To our surprise, the values are different. We consider this is one of the non-thermal effects of microwave on the electrolyte solution. Further experiments indicate that the current change caused by this non-thermal effect is closely related to the concentration and temperature of the solution. Through real-time observations on the current change, we eliminated that the non-thermal effect is caused by the redistribution of the positive and negative ions. Thus the experiment results suggest that the non-thermal effect of microwave is caused by the change of the surrounding environment of the ions. ...convenient cost for the 100 or 1000 of km the lines regularly installed. It is vital that appropriate environmental protection is provided. This is achieved through specifying a thermal expansion limit, corrosion resistance and apt wind resistance for the cables. Numerous varieties of cable specifications are offered to meet the demands for distinct currents and satisfy British Standards. High Voltage Cable Conductors: A Comparison Introduction As copper was the first material to be used in this capacity and aluminium is the most commonly used material used today I have decided to compare these two materials. Conductor Material Properties Materials usually used in conductors are aluminium, copper, and steel. Steel wires are joint with aluminium in the most frequent type of overhead conductor. Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR). The use of copper is unusual in modern transmission lines since it weighs and generally costs considerably more than aluminium conductor of the same resistance. Copper was the metal first used for conductors during the great development of electrical engineering in the early 1880’s. However, the immediate rapid expansion of the aluminium industry soon reduced the price of aluminium. For overhead transmission lines,...

...DANGERS OF ELECTRICITY DANGERS OF ELECTRICITY What are the dangers of electricity? According to: Acceleratedstudynotes. (2012, 03 10). Danger of electricity. Retrieved from https://www.acceleratedstudynotes.com/2012/03/10/igcse-coordinated-science-dangers-of-electricity/ Dangers of Electricity contain a range of risks, which are Electric Shock, Psychological Damage, Physical Burns, Neurological Damage and Ventricular fibrillation resulting in death. If not properly controlled or harnessed, can result in serious danger to those who use it. The risks with electric power can be divided into two categories: direct and indirect. The direct danger is the damage that the power itself can do to the human body, such as enabling someone to breathe or regular heartbeats, or burns. The indirect dangers of electricity include the damages that can result to the human body like something caused by electric shock, an explosion, or a fire. Electricity at any voltage can be dangerous and should always be handled with caution. An electric shock can occur upon contact of a human or animal body with any source of voltage high enough to cause enough current flow through the muscles or nerves. Dangers of an over heating cable: Sometimes another danger can begin if an extreme current flows in the wires. They will heat up and the insulation can melt which will cause it to produce poisonous fumes or even catch fire. Therefore it is advice to avoid using appliances that draw too...

Analysis Of Harriet Tubm Conductor On The Underground Railroad

...Leadership is a great trait to have, but what characteristics indicate that someone is a good leader? Right before the Civil War, President Lincoln was elected for office, which made many slave owners angry because they knew Lincoln’s goal was to emancipate all slaves. This war was a long struggle but there were many strong leaders willing to fight it. When someone thinks of leadership, usually a tough, strong-opinioned and put together kind of person. While reading “Harriet Tubman: Conductor on the Underground Railroad” these traits fit Harriet Tubman perfectly. Tubman wanted to make a change to the world by trying to free slaves, which was a huge risk because if she was to get caught, she would be killed. Being a risk taker is a trait that...
