In recent years, Studying abroad has flourished. You see, in 2003, the number of Chinese mainlanders who took the SAT in Hong Kong is 200. By 2010 that figure has become 20,000. In the U.S., undergraduate students from the Chinese mainland are 52 % more than in 2009. Mainland China has become the biggest source of overseas students in the world.
Hundreds of thousands scholars and students have gone to foreign countries to further their studies. If there is a choice, more and more Chinese families are willing to send their children abroad. Many people are sparing no efforts in applying for going abroad. The trend of students' age also becomes lower than before.
At the same time, the total number of students taking the national college entrance Exam continued to fall.
This phenomenon is partly because people are unsatisfied with the college entrance exam system.
Twenty or thirty years ago, most Chinese students who came to study in the U.S. - if not all – are mostly academic elite, but now the source of students has expanded a lot. Actually, a part of those overseas students are the ones who failed in their middle school entrance exam or college entrance Examination. The most common place they went to is called diploma mill (also known as a degree mill) which is an organization that awards academic degrees and diplomas with substandard.
Most people also think that studying abroad is the guarantee of good jobs. But a recent survey on 100 China's richest people who are born after 1980 shows that only 6 of them have the experience of overseas study.
However, there are quite a lot of problems you have to face when you study abroad.
Economic problems: Travel and living costs may be considerably higher than a comparable period at your home institution, even if you are receiving a grant to cover some of the costs. communication problems: The amount which you learn may be less if learning in a foreign language and your academic performance in that language may be limited. You may also find the type of teaching unproductive and find it difficult to adapt to a different social environment quickly.
Take care of yourself: Living independently can give students more freedom, therefore strong self-control is needed. Students no longer have their parents’ guidance which means if they party all day, no one here to stop them. On the other hand, the management of students’ time has to be made clear along with the organization of studies, cooking and housework. Some students may find it difficult to control themselves without their parents’ guidance.
So what can we get from overseas study? Does it sound terrible? Firstly, the education in developed countries can offer students opportunities to contact diverse culture backgrounds and hence to reshape their ways of thinking. Students study abroad can learn advanced knowledge and the new way of thinking. These new things together with what were learned in the homeland would make a student develop a full scale outlook and know more about the world.
In addition, they will contact with students come from all over the world. They will not only have more friends but also gain knowledge from them during the communication and the association. They may talk about the history of their own countries and the customs of their nationalities, all of which could benefit the development of students’ personality.
What’s more, overseas study can polish students’ ability, because they are forced to deal with all kinds of difficulties by themselves instead of depend on their parents as at home.
In my opinion, the advantages of studying abroad outweigh its disadvantages. But it is still a big decision to go abroad to study. The best strategy is to take your financial conditions and adaptability into consideration. Personally, I will choose to study abroad in the fullness of time. As an old saying goes "if you want to get, you should pay more firstly." Maybe to go abroad is not easy, but we can create conditions from now on. I believe: After the rain, the bright rainbow will be waiting for us and I wish all of us will meet the chance to study overseas and enrich our life experience.

Nike Case S

...tudyMini-case Study: Nike’s “Just Do It” Advertising Campaign According to Nike company lore, one of the most famous and easily recognized slogans in advertising history was coined at a 1988 meeting of Nike’s ad agency Wieden and Kennedy and a group of Nike employees. Dan Weiden, speaking admiringly of Nike’s can-do attitude, reportedly said, “You Nike guys, you just do it.” The rest, as they say, is (advertising) history. After stumbling badly against archrival Reebok in the 1980s, Nike rose about as high and fast in the ‘90s as any company can. It took on a new religion of brand consciousness and broke advertising sound barriers with its indelible Swoosh, “Just Do It” slogan and deified sports figures. Nike managed the deftest of marketing tricks: to be both anti-establishment and mass market, to the tune of $9.2 billion dollars in sales in 1997. —Jolie Soloman “When Nike Goes Cold” Newsweek, March 30, 1998 The Nike brand has become so strong as to place it in the rarified air of recession-proof consumer branded giants, in the company of CocaCola, Gillette and Proctor & Gamble. Brand management is one of Nike’s many strengths. Consumers are willing to pay more for brands that they judge to be superior in quality, style and reliability. A strong brand allows its owner to expand market share, command higher prices and generate more revenue than its competitors. With its “Just Do It” campaign and strong product, Nike was able to increase its share of the domestic sport-shoe...

...Why is Western culture more influential than others? Europeans have been asking this question since the 18th Century, and Africans and Asians since the 19th. But there is still not much agreement on the answers. (http://www.beyondintractability.org/essay/culture-conflict) Why is it that Western lifestyle and entertainment is so much more dominating on a foreign country than vise versa? Why isn't Chinese, Indian, or East African culture and entertainment more appealing to western audiences? While western music, films and activities are massively popular and mainstream overseas. Is there something about it that is inherently more appealing to the average human being? We live in a world where different peoples and cultures have different values, beliefs and truths, many of which are unequal but all of which are valid in their own context. However some cultures hold greater control and influence in our multicultural world and this is gradually becoming an issue to the less culturally prevailing countries. This is multiculturalism, a term which can be defined as the cultural and ethnic diversity of our modern-day world (https://www.dss.gov.au/our-responsibilities/settlement-and-multicultural-affairs/programs-policy/a-multicultural-australia/national-agenda-for-a-multicultural-australia/what-is-multiculturalism) People from new and different cultural groups may be negatively stereotyped and heavily discriminated against because of their differences from a main culture. What We Know About Wheat and How It Affects

...Going “gluten-free” is a very popular mantra lately. No differently than dietary fads of the past, the phrase “gluten free” commonly appears in health magazines, cooking shows and on the shelves in our supermarkets. However, the difference between the present gluten free dietary craze and the fad diets of the past is that losing weight is not the end goal, instead, preventing and warding off disease and illness is. Perhaps for this reason going gluten free has gained global popularity and unparalleled support from the medical community. There are a number of unhealthy side effects that come from consuming gluten that most of us consume in the form of wheat. While research on the issue is still inconclusive we know there is something in the wheat plant that is making many of us sick. This research paper was created to examine how gluten and the wheat grain are affecting humans, the potential causes of the sudden manifestation of gluten related disorders, and what, if anything, can be done to prevent gluten related ailments. By way of background, gluten is the main structural protein found in wheat and other grains such as rye, barley, and oats. Online gambling and its legality have caused a great deal of controversy in the recent past. The industry is so profitable and the demand is so high, that despite government acts to make it illegal, people still find their way around it. There are those that argue that online gambling should be government regulated and taxed in the U.S., while there are also those who believe that legalizing it will only lead to an increase in addiction rates and be detrimental to our society. Beating the Odds When You Launch a New Venture

...Harvard Business Review May 2010 Beating the Odds When You Launch a New Venture by Clark G. Gilbert and Matthew J. Eyring Smart entrepreneurs aren’t cowboys—they’re methodical managers of risk. For nearly 20 years the case study used to introduce Harvard Business School’s Entrepreneurial Management course has been Howard Stevenson’s “R&R.” It looks at Bob Reiss, an entrepreneur who launches a venture in the board-game industry. Students are encouraged to explore all the production, development, distribution, and marketing costs associated with the new venture. A cursory reading of the case suggests that it’s a lesson in the rewards that come to an entrepreneur who is willing to take on an enormous amount of risk. Reiss capitalizes on what he correctly foresees is an ephemeral opportunity to ride the coattails of the Trivial Pursuit craze before me-too products flood the market. But a more careful analysis reveals something else entirely. At every turn, Reiss seeks to reduce his risks before making any significant financial investments or operational commitments. For example, he presells a sizable number of units to ensure cash flow. As students come to understand, Reiss actually limits his at-risk capital to the cost of the game design and the prototype. Rather than the high-risk, high-reward seeker he initially seems, Reiss proves to be a manager who constantly identifies risks and finds creative ways to remove them. Tackling the Right Risks First (Located at the end of...
