...recreational options beyond the casino floor. Despite considerable evidence substantiating this evolutionary change in the commercial casino marketplace, in the popular mind the casino industry remains largely about gambling. There is a perception that people travel to casinos mainly to spend some money gambling and then return home. In this simplified view, the money they spend pays for the facilities they visit and the salaries of the employees with whom they interact. This view is, however, incomplete. In reality, this perception discounts how increasingly complex modern casinos in the U.S. have become, and how large and far-reaching a role they now play in the American economy. This study, conducted by the Brattle Group for the American Gaming Association (AGA), uncovers several key findings about the U.S. commercial casino industry: • Based on direct, indirect and induced impacts, the commercial casino industry supported approximately $125 billion in spending and nearly 820,000 jobs in the U.S. economy in 2010, which is roughly equivalent to 1 percent of the $14.5 trillion U.S. gross domestic product. • These impacts are generated from diverse revenue streams. More than two-thirds of industry revenue is generated on the casino floor, while the remaining third is generated via the food and beverage, hotel...

...Turtle Beach X12 Gaming Headset By Bryan Bennett I have had the privilege to recently buy a Turtle Beach X12 (wired) Gaming headset. I thoroughly enjoy this purchase, because it is absolutely phenomenal. As an avid gamer, headsets make the games more enjoyable. I enjoy playing a lot of First Person Shooter (FPS) games, such as Call of Duty, the older Halo series, and Battlefield. One asks why I spend so much on a gaming headset, well; I will let you know. The Turtle Beach headset was a top priority on my list of gaming necessities, mainly because the sound quality is so superior to the basic headset that comes with the console of choice (Xbox, Playstation). When I’m playing a serious session of FPS games, it is an absolute given that you need to hear everything that is in the surroundings. The basic headset doesn’t let you hear everything, it mainly just lets you talk to other teammates and trash talk your opponents. This headset lets you hear the environment of the game, you can easily hear someone creeping around a corner to flank you or hear someone shooting at you with a silencer. The sound quality is just a bit of what the X12 Gaming headset has to offer. The price is a great deal for the quality of a headset. This particular headset goes for $59.95 (plus tax) at my local Best Buy store. It may seem pricey, but the warranty option that comes with the headset is worth it alone. I opted for the warranty with was an additional $10 and if anything happens to the headset...

...that takes place. Women are often objectified throughout the social medias, such as video games, and it can have fatal consequences for the victims. There is no doubt that cyber bullying is a big problem. One of those who couldn’t tolerate it anymore was Anita Sarkeesian. She launched and online fundraising campaign on the Internet, called “Feminist Frequency”, to create awareness of how we use the women as a sexual stereotype in videogames. This is also the theme or topic of the speech, that she held at the TEDxWomen event in 2012. _______________________________ Anita Sarkeeshian begins her speech by telling the audience a little presentation about herself, who she is, and that she for four years has run a video web series on YouTube, about sexism and women’s representation in the social medias. Sarkesshian is a women feminist, and a really independent woman, who also have been punished for her opinion. She is extremely well spoken and organized, and has some amazing points, that she through the speech shows. Her main focus in the speech is the video gaming industry, as she says: “It is no secret that the video game industry boasts some of the most sexually objectified, stereotyped and downright oppressive portrayals of women in any medium“ (Page 1 lines 13-14). The gaming industry was the reason why she launched a fundraising campaign, where people could donate to this project, and then support her vision for a new representation of women. A game that involved beating...

...sort of problem at hand, and let me tell you it is a rough to see your family go through this type of particular situation, I‘m keeping my thoughts and opinions at rest In order to give an audience an opinion that is not bias. Ever since gaming has become a viral for by becoming viral all over the internet there has been a monumental boom in the gaming industry. Ok now add the formula of one self being able to take part in playing a game such at this not only integrated, but also at the same time in different areas of the country. This evolution of gaming is what has many Americans of all ages flocking to the stores and picking up these gaming systems. Some stores all across America had trouble keeping gaming consoles in stock back in the year 2007. The gaming industry has taken over America by...

...Statement from 2008 to 2009. In 2008 CanGo total revenue was $10,000,000, and increased to $50,000,000 in 2009. The 2008 Expenses which consisted of (CanGo’s On-line Gaming, AD & Sales, and other expenses) Total $9,600,000, which brought the overall all net before taxes to $400,000.00 but increased in 2009 to $8,440,000.00. At first glance one might conclude that is increase in performance was due to the acquisition of the on-line gaming division, whose revenue equaled the other two divisions combined (Books $7,000,000 and CD/MP3 $3,000,000) which gave us the total revenue of $10,000,000 for 2008. But is this true? Was online gaming the source of the increase in profits? Based on the financial data that was available in CanGo’s financial statement it clearly shows that the online books sales was the only profitable division with revenue of $15,000,000, Expenses at most $6,560,000 with a net of $8,440,000.00. Given the amount that the Books Sales Division has brought to the company I would recommend that the Book Sales be Prioritized over the other division. Because the market is becoming more and more dependent on mobile internet connections. Can Go needs to perform at a higher level than current ability. In order to progress further toward a wider geographical gap, Can Go should consider increasing their online gaming market.by restructuring how those divisions are being used in Advertisement and Sales to attract customers. Customer retention is harder to maintain as more...

...analysis of the company shows that there are good opportunities for expansion into other markets and that the threats and weaknesses that exist can be overcome or managed by an already dedicated senior staff with some additional training and direction. Product delivery and customer service can be streamlined by utilizing updated technology such as an AS/RS in CanGo’s warehouses. An online customer support and service center will improve customer experiences. A competitive advantage can be expected with state of the art product delivery and improved customer service. Strategically, CanGo needs to expand in order to stay ahead of growing competition. Legacy Consultants recommends purchasing Webjouster as the way to enter into online gaming. CanGo should stay away from offering violent games in order to maintain brand integrity. Server capacity should be increased in order to accommodate expansion demand with minimal down-time. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Strong but limited finances indicate the need to pursue an IPO as a predominant source of capital to finance expansion related expense and technology upgrades. CanGo should expect continued and substantial success through continued growth and by meeting the demands of maintaining competitive advantage in the online entertainment...

...with friends with the push of a button. One console allows for speech recognition to browse menus rather than using a controller. Another console allows you to transfer your game to a smaller device from the home console and take it with you on the go. The only thing stopping the Gaming world from growing is the imagination of the community and the developers. Gaming consoles today are a major step up over the earlier days of Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. Nowadays online gaming is a staple, playing with friends and strangers no matter where they are in the world have become a standard for most games. No longer are we confined to a single couch to play with a group of friends just log on and invite your friend to play and they can join in almost immediately. “…Game consoles adopted an innovation that would all but kill them: Internet play. Suddenly we were playing together alone.” (Bo Moore). Sharing has recently become the newest innovation in console gaming. Recording the last few minutes of your gameplay then showing off to your friends becomes a fun way to show different things in your games like secrets and epic moments. Different control options have made a surge in gaming as of late. The Nintendo Wii broke the ice by introducing motion gaming with Wii-mote soon followed by Sony and their Ps move controller and the innovative PlayStation Eye. Microsoft however had a different scope on motion gaming by introducing the Kinect, “a line of motion sensing input devices…Based...

The journey starts with your PC getting online through your LAN passing through your switch via CAT5 cable onto the WAN (wide area network) generally with Fiber Optic cable. It then passes through a Central Office with your ISP and onto the gaming center office where it enters through their switch onto their routers and servers. This happens on a broader spectrum connecting many “gamers” together to provide the online gaming experience. Activity 1 Data and Fixed line VS Cellular debate Fixed line networks can be more reliable than cellular. Disconnected cables can disable land lines, but these problems are easily remedied. On the other hand, cellular networks are plagued by several different issues because they rely on a network cellular towers and satellites. In some areas, cellular networks can be plagued by harsh weather conditions. Because data is transmitted via a fixed medium, land line phones are more...

...The evolution of video games has seen a dramatic transformation over the course of the past few decades. When comparing Pong to Halo, or the Atari 2600 console to an Xbox, major differences are apparent. Advances in technology have resulted in changes to graphics and controllers, in addition to communication between characters and players. Generation X (those born between 1956-1976) experienced games with simple cursors that moved on screens to accomplish objectives. One of the earliest video games that exhibits this characteristic is the arcade classic Pong. Created in 1972, Pong is a tennis sport game that features two-dimensional graphics. Generation Y (those born between 1977-1994) grew up with more evolved consoles that kept practicality in mind. The Gameboy was the first handheld console to hit the market and was created in 1989 by Nintendo. This product revolutionized the industry by being the first console to allow for gaming on the go. Players no longer had to visit an arcade to get their gaming fix, effectively broadening the market by making it more accessible to a wider audience. While Generation X witnessed the creation of the first video game console (the Magnavox Odyssey, Atari 2600 and Nintendo Color), generation Y (also referred to among techies as the 6th generation era) released devices such as the Sega Dreamcast, Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Wii, and Microsoft Xbox. Graphics characteristic of Generation X were two-dimensional and black...

Overall, Nintendo has several opportunities and strengths of which they can take advantage to stay competitive in the market. However, their competitive threats and weakness pose significant financial challenges for the firm. Based on our analysis, we considered the following alternatives: 1. Continue to focus on the existing marketing strategy by differentiating itself from the competition; 2. Expand the video game product line to include games with improved graphics and functions for the current Wii in an effort to expand their customer base; 3. Invest aggressively in research and development to create a new video game console that takes into account the requirements for both the non-gamer and traditional gamers; and 4. Continue to differentiate itself from the market by expanding into gaming through social media and mobile devices. For Nintendo to maintain a...
