...PYC4808 – UNIQUE NO: 199603 STUDENT NO: 4416-365-7 ASSIGNMENT 1 MS. N.S. MVUBU 4/21/2014 Table of Contents Definitions: Epistemology and Theory……………………………………/ 1 Definitions: Model and Technique…………………………………………./ 2 References……………………………………………………………………………../ 3 /1 DEFINTION EXAMPLE EPISTEMOLOGY Epistemology is a branch of Philosophy that deals with the nature of knowledge. It is mostly referred to as “The Theory of Knowledge, especially the inquiry into what is to count as knowledge, the validity of knowledge, what distinguishes mere belief from knowledge, what kinds of things are knowable and whether anything can be known for certain.” Coleman(2009, p. 256) Epistemology questions and tries to define knowledge – is it based on truth, belief, fact or justification? Or all four? Is epistemology based on my subjective perception of reality? What counts as satisfactory evidence for the truth of my beliefs? Can my reality be sufficiently justified? X does not need to be true for somebody to believe it, but if X is known then it cannot be said to be false and is therefore true. Eg: If a tree falls in the forest and there is nobody around to hear it, does it make a sound? If nobody hears it – did the tree actually exist? How can we know that a tree fell in the forest? Epistemology tries to explain how we know what we know. THEORY A theory is not simply an opinion or an idea but is grounded in scientific research...

...working out , cleaning up, and cooking. I love listening to music while on my way to school, and work, as I feel it helps me to prepare for the long day thats ahead of me. Although it may not be, I beleive music is the answer to all my life problems as it has been there throughout my whole life. I feel I can always depend on good music. I first fell in love with music when I was a young girl . I remember listening to "The Little Mermaid" soundtrack over and over on my pink walkman. Just the lyrics and melody took me to another place . Ever since then, music has been a huge part of my life. I listen to everything from 2Pac , Nas , Lil Wayne and Jay Z (Rap) Aaliyah, RKelly, Mary J Blige and Alicia Keyz (R&B) The Police, Metallica, AC/DC, Journey and U2 ( Pop/Rock) and my favorite Oldies from The Gap Band, Chacka Khan, The O'Jays, Aretha Franklin, The Chi-Lites, The Spinners oh' sheesh' the list goes on. It's kind of hard to just focus on one event or genre of music where music has affected my life. Because not only has it affected my life it has got me and continues to get me through my day to day life and struggles. I recently witnessed the passing of my Great Grandparents in November 2015 3 days apart. They were the most amazing people in my life besides my actual parents. They were the defintion of love, joy, happiness, and what a family was...

..."A Clear definition of your business' vison is critical to your success" As --------- pointed out int the discussuon board in Unit 2 Money (DB) "purchasing a franchise is a very good strategy if you are able to secure the capital for investment." As the business plan and strategies are already in place. Now the question is why would the franchise business owner be selling his shop? In this case Dr. Heywood mentioned a Carvel Icecream Shop in her area that closed due to continued construction that made it unpleasent for the customers to visit the Carvel Shop. As a result the business was unable to previal and had to close up shop and offer the franchise for sale. The secret may be found in finding the right balance of the four competencies, and this could be the difference between success and failure for a business that finds its self trying to endure continued construction in their area - and at a time of recession. I found an interesting article from the Central Penn Business Journal, titled "A Clear definition of your business' vison is critical to your success" from March 20th 2009. In the article the author Richard Randall goes to offer four key factors that will help the new busines owner find the right balance to help ensure success whether it's a franchise or a new business. ...

...The Affects of Monopolies on Our current Microeconomic Situation More than anything else, the progress of the world in the 21st century depends on economics. The microeconomic situation of the United States has several determining factors contributing to it's current status. What we earn, what we save, what we spend, how deligently we work and retain our jobs is all part of the microeconomic system that controls our daiy lives. Another large factor hindering the success or downfall of the current economy is the effect of monopolies. By defintion a monopoly is a large company that has exclusive control of a commodity or service in a particular market giving them the power to manipulate prices. In a sense a monopoly is the logical result of competition. The roles of a monopoly in microeconomics severly affect the manner in which individual businesses can effectivly conduct their business in more than one way. Monopolies have forever affected our economy but these following pages are more of a generalized overview of the affects they have had strictly in the 21st century. One role of a monopoly in microeconomics is the effect it has on the pricing of goods and services. Monopolies can impact consumer prices in two obviously different ways, they can cause prices to drop so low that it forces companies out of business, or it can cause prices to skyrocket making it difficult for consumers to purchase a product. Neither of these options are necessarily good for the consumers...

...Georgina Akladious HCS 325 Importance of Teams Vivian Perez March 17, 2014 To all team members, As you all are aware we have been getting many complaints about lack of efficiency and customer service. Let me begin this letter by stating it is not anyone’s fault, we unfortunately did not expect the volume of calls that we would be receiving here at the Senior Information Center. We have doubled in our volume of calls within the past year and have been granted $20,000 to improve customer satisfaction and efficiency. As of right now we do not have the means to hire more staff but I have a proposal to share with all of you today that will hopefully take the strain off your shoulders. In this letter we will be discussing the following points: Why teams are essential to health care; how teams are used in other industries, example is auto racing; how lessons from other industries might be applied in health care; and which organizational processes support problem solving. Before we begin I want to remind all of you that even though I am the manager we are all team members and I value everyone’s thought and opinions. So please do not hesitate to come and share any ideas that you may have. First topic of discussion is team members and how they are important especially within our health care facility. Everyone is aware that we are a calling service to assist mainly seniors/elders with any questions or concerns they may have. We also send individuals to whichever specific department...

...Entrepreneurial skills Presentation Finance for entrepreneurs There are two classical ways to finance business you put money in your business out of your pocket, and there has to be a share of there own money that is called owner equity genereric for funding business, you have to borrow. The exray of the business a reflected on two documents balance sheet income table Balancesheet vs. Financing needs Balance sheet is a table, with two sides, with two colums, on the left you have the assets, and at the other side you have the liablility ( this is the money you borrow from others), and as well owner equity (this is the money you put in your business out of your pocket). Assets fall into two main categories, you have current assets and fixed assets. Fixed assets, are land, building, machinery, eguipments, vehicles, fax machines etc. If you are a manufacturer, you need to buy alot of equipments, but if you are a trader buy and sell, you may not need alot of items. At least some items should be in the fixed assets. How do you finance them You may wish to buy a place where you do business or you can simply rent it, and you need to put machinery in the office. For this you need money. Not all does come out of your pockets, financing needs are even for the richest corporations. In each business there are ownersmoney, or the money that the entrepreneur had borrowed. The golden rule: debt to equity should bet two times. The total...

...said that “Creativity is about working in a highly focused way on ideas and projects, crafting them into their best forms and making critical judgements along the way.” Bringing creativity and literacy together can be a powerful tool in teaching. It allows children to be active in literacy, from acting out plays through characters that they’ve made themselves or through making props. It allows children to explore their imaginations. Getting involved in a story re-enforces the learning and can also teach practical skills, for example, working with templates or basic sewing. Children are naturally creative, if you stop and listen to them they often are natural storytellers. They love to make things up and will very often have imaginary worlds they will refer to. They also love to get involved in making things, giving them a sense of achievement. If they are engaged they will learn more, so it’s about harnessing their ability to soak up information and to capture their imaginations, which can make teaching more fulfilling. Benefits of creative literacy The benefits are numerous and wide-ranging. It encourages greater pupil engagement, brings a subject to life – therefore capturing pupils interest, and improves knowledge retention. It can also improve oral and listening skills, encourage team building, and can be made...
