...Laura provides a very well scripted out and in depth description of her context. I believe that Laura really didn’t have to add to much more to her essay, she describe the main points very well and ended the essay very well and left you thinking about lots of different things such as what it would be like to be in her position and to face all the different challenges she is facing. 2) I believe that the essay would have been different in third person because there wouldn’t have been as much detail given as in first person. For example how she said she was fighting back the tears when she was explain her story. There might not have been as much emotion shown. 3) Some of the details she explained were the physical features of the hospital and how they were all the same and were plain. Also she explained stuff such as the smells of the hospital and how it was “antiseptic-smelling” and she grew accustomed to the smell. I believe she did a fairly good job explaining detail, I don’t think there was to much more she could go in depth with. 4) I think that the whole essay was explained in depth as a flashback of past events that occurred in Laura’s life. I personally didn’t catch any other spots in the essay that she referred to using flashbacks as a part of detail to explain her essay. 5) I think the importance and experience of this essay is that Laura did a very god job explaining her story and showed the in depth detail of what a hospital may be like and how...

...Does your plan for success and life compare to THINK BIG? Dr. Benjamin Solomon Carson, who is a famous neurosurgeon, has a stupendous philosophy for life and success. His philosophy is the title, an acronym that stands for THINK BIG. The most crucial letter would most definitely be the G in BIG. The acronym begins with the letter T for talents. Dr. Carson says that it begins with discovering your God-given talents. Everyone needs to find their talents as their strengths and weaknesses to overcome the barrels life throws at you. Just as Benjamin Franklin quotes, “Hide not your talents, they for use were made. What’s a sun-dial in the shade?” Next is H,it stands for honesty. This is big in life for it can get you trust. ...Christine King 23rd November 2011 WHAT IMPACT HAS THE RELATIONAL APPROACH, AS DESCRIBED IN ‘BEYOND EMPATHY’ AND MEARNS AND COOPER’S ‘WORKING AT RELATIONAL DEPTH’, HAD ON YOUR CLIENT WORK. ILLUSTRATE YOUR ANSWER WITH REFERENCE TO A SINGLE SESSION WITH A CLIENT. Introduction This essay will be looking at the importance of relational depth and further more I will attempt to demonstrate my growing awareness of my relationship with my clients and how it has impacted on my client work. What is Relational depth? Relational Depth comes from the book entitled ‘Working at Relational Depth in Counselling and Psychotherapy’ (2005), Dave Mearns and Mick Cooper. ‘Such an encounter can feel beyond language’ (p.xi). I feel it’s a very true statement. Words do not feel powerful enough; it feels the power is almost being dismissed. I do not think that Mearns and Cooper have developed anything new to the Person Centred Approach, I feel that Carl Rogers had already developed relational depth by using congruence, positive regard and empathy. (Rogers 1959) Often I have found working with Bereavement, I sit with my client’s pain and can get to relational depth quite quickly. My client sat and cried and looked at me with pain in her eyes. Her eyes said, “this feels unbearable, can you feel my pain?” Yes, I thought as I slowly nodded, yes I can and it hurts. The pain was within me, my chest and stomach felt tight...

...markup differs from original markup in an important way. Maintained markup is the final selling price less retailer’s cost. Original markup refers to the difference between the retailer cost and the initial selling price. Initial markup is what the retailer hopes to get for the product; maintained markup is what the retailer can actually sell an item for to consumers. It must cover costs for a retailer to show a profit. 3.) The retail and product life cycles are similar in that they consist of four stages over which market share and profit (from sales) are matched. In the first stage of each life cycle, new retail forms or products enter the market. Competition emerges in the second stage, and by the maturity stage, the major fighting between competitors has occurred. In decline stage, both curves show falls in market share and profit). Differences relate to nomenclature. The first stage of the product life cycle is introduction as opposed to the retail life cycle’s early growth. The second stage of the PLC is growth versus the retail life cycle’s accelerated development. 4.) Walmart is moving up the wheel of retailing. They have matured towards the middle on the Wheel of Retailing. Walmart has added services. Off-price retailers represent today’s low-price,...

...RELS 117 February 27, 2014 The Way What is faith? The question alone seems so simple but yet is packed with so much uncertainty and lacks a definite answer. To some, faith may be the act of attending mass every Sunday. To others, it may be worshiping an object that they think will provide answers later in life. In Emilio Estevez’s award winning film The Way, characters demonstrate acts of faith that both appeal and contradict with some theologians and film critics’ definitions of faith. Although the film does have some religious themes and content, I agree with theologian Paul Tillich and film critic Steven Greydanus that this film lacks true faith. Paul Tillich is a theologian that would find the faith in The Way controversial. In order to understand why Tillich would disagree with the faith displayed in the movie, his definition of faith must first be laid out. Paul Tillich’s definition of faith is “the state of being ultimately concerned.” To be true faith, the ultimate concern must meet three criteria. The first criteria is that it must demand total surrender. Tillich bases this criteria on Deuteronomy 6:5 which states, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” In other words, the person must completely commit and give themselves up for their ultimate concern. His second criteria is that it promises total fulfillment. This means that ultimate concern promises, not guarantees, happiness, satisfaction, and purpose...

...As the waves crash against the ocean shore, remnants of life are washed upon the sand. As the tide continues to push and pull, it drags my interests into its darkest depths even further. Everything on Earth that ever was, is, or will be emerged from those mysterious, immense bodies of water. It is hard for the mind to fathom such a concept; we originated from that. Our features, our intelligence, our everything came from a such a simple compound in an enormous amount. In essence, the ocean gave birth to us through millions of years of evolution. Because of the chemical properties of water and our primitive atmosphere, macromolecules were allowed to form. As the macromolecules formed and combined within the ocean, the creation of the planet we now know today began....

...Renaissance through the similarities of his work and the works of artists from that time period, such as Piero della Francesca, Filippo Brunelleschi, Leonardo Da Vinci and Johannes Vermeer. However, Smart’s works also show similarities to paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cézanne, alongside those by Peter Paul Ruben and Jean Francois-Millet. These works provide evidence to a use of techniques and materials such as foreshortening, one point-perspective and oil painting - all exceedingly similar to those of the Renaissance art movement. Smart, by sampling these procedures and concepts from previous art movements and bringing them back to life, creates a new, modern day renaissance. Smart was heavily inspired by artists of the Renaissance period, particularly Piero della Francesca (Rompaey, 2013). Smart utilises perspective to add depth to his artworks, particularly in the work "The Traveller", which uses a one-point perspective from between two buses. The work contains one vanishing point on the horizon; much the same as Francesca’s work "La Cité idéale". The Renaissance artist used one point perspective to enhance his painting (Kharlamov, 2015), and to show his vision in a way that was...

...Bathophobia Fear of Depths Phobia - BathophobiaBa means the fear of depths. It is fear or anxiety associated with the sea or water bodies of various types, though; many Bathophobic individuals are also known to fear tunnels, mountain valleys or caves. The word Bathophobia originates from Greek word bathios which means “deep or depth” and phobos meaning “aversion, dread or fear”. People living with this phobia try to avoid lakes, swimming pools, seas, hallways, wells, mountain valleys, tunnels or all other things that have depth associated with them. When they do encounter these, they tend to experience apprehension or have a full blown panic attack. They often realize that their fear is irrational however they are unable to overcome it. In some extreme cases, their fear may even interfere with their daily lives. Like many specific phobias, the causes of Bathophobia are often unknown; however, most experts believe that they stem from negative or traumatic events in the individual’s early life. Thus, having witnessed a loved one drown, or even watching an older adult/caregiver/parent show a fear of depths can trigger Bathophobia. One Bathophobe recalls having been asked by his teacher to plunge his hand inside a 5 gallon jar for removing dead creatures that their class was studying in Biology. He recalls experiencing a “shiver and feeling of great apprehension” at the thought of encountering “the unexpected”. This incident led him to fear depths of all kinds even into his...
