In my experience, sex has always been multidimensional. Growing up, there were many biological, psychological, and social influences working on my opinion of sex before I was even of age to start participating in it. Teachers and counselors warned me about pregnancy and STDs, I heard my friends gossip about “sluts” and “whores,” my mom taught me that it was important to have an emotional connection with your sexual partner, and my church told me that sex was only to be between husband and wife. It seems silly to me that society’s discussion of sex stops being multifaceted when it comes to sex and older adults.
