Love, according to Cambridge Dictionaries is to have a strong affection for someone, which can be combined with a strong romantic attraction. My book, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green carries the theme of the necessity of suffering. My thesis that is related to my theme is that is that by exploring effectively to understand death through its physical, psychological and emotional manifestations. The physical toll on the two primary characters is the beginning stage for their relationship. Unavoidably this prompts a passionate bond that is anguishing when one loses the other. Passing is the most clear in the physical decay of the body, for that is the thing that individuals can see, the indications of death can be the hardest to control and cover up. A tumour patient is not able to control the agony they feel from the disease and how their body reacts to it. According to Hazel Grace, "I was left on the shore with the waves washing over me, unable to drown" (Green). That is the way Hazel Grace …show more content…
To Augustus, in the event that he wasn't recalled incredibly, he would not see himself as recollected by any means. He finds himself able to tell Hazel, "...there is no glory in illness. There is no meaning to it. There is no honour in dying of" (Green). Augustus longed to be a hero somehow before he died. He needed to be recollected. Being a cancer patient had made that a thousand times more troublesome. From his point of view he wouldn't have the capacity to achieve something that would make him "news commendable". Hazel, though understanding, did not agree and was able to respond to him with, "I just want to be enough for you, but I never can be. This can never be enough for you. But this is all you get. You get me and your family, and this is the world. This is your life. I am sorry if it sucks"

Research Paper On The Fault In Our Stars

...Barry Faith and Doubt The Second Law of Thermodynamics If there's anything anyone can ever be certain of, it's that there will be change. There are a few things in life that can be considered irrevocably constant. Change comes in different forms and degrees of intensity, yet everyone reacts a different way to it. In all the books we read, this was evident in the stories and the characters. In Night, the Holocaust causes Elie to lose his faith. In Barabbas, Jesus' death resulted in a journey for Barabbas to find his faith. In The Fault in Our Stars, Augustus struggles with change in his disease by trying to find control and making the most of life. The characters in the story here try to find order in an otherwise chaotic setting. This...

Consumers’ Perception on Product Quality and Brand Dilution on Various Segments of Tobacco Industry in Bangladesh - an Empirical Study to Identify the Scope of Improvement for Batb

...Topic: CONSUMERS’ PERCEPTION ON PRODUCT QUALITY AND BRAND DILUTION ON VARIOUS SEGMENTS OF TOBACCO INDUSTRY IN BANGLADESH - AN EMPIRICAL STUDY TO IDENTIFY THE SCOPE OF IMPROVEMENT FOR BATB Abstract: Now a day’s quality of the products is the primary concern for the customers. Customers value their money and always prefer the quality product. Tobacco industry is a potential industry and its growth is also related with national GDP. About one percent of our GDP is used in consumption of tobacco product that’s why it becomes a huge market for the competitors of tobacco industry. As the cigarette is both competitive and controversial product so marketing of this product is very difficult. There are many tobacco companies in Bangladesh. Among them British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) is a pioneer and leading multinational cigarette manufacturer followed by local manufacturer Dhaka tobacco. This paper tried to find out the relation with quality and brand dilution and brand dilution occurs broadly in FMCG industry. Brand dilution is the weakening of a brand though its overuse. This frequently happens as a result of ill-judged brand extension. Price cutting that increases sales volumes but moves a brand down-market can be similarly damage a brand. Brand dilution is an ever present risk for companies that rely on a strong brand for high margins. A company that owns a strong brand obviously wants to leverage it to sell as much as possible, but the very strategies used to purse...

Space Exploration and Everyday Life

...good enough for a lot of people and seems to satisfy the masses but I have news for you NASA and the drive of space exploration has given the people of the world more than just the real truth of what the moon is made of. A 1999 Gallup poll found that 18 percent of American adults believed that the sun revolved around earth with 3 percent unsure.(Andrews). Not only that according to a 2004 Science Foundation study 32 percent of adults thought that astrology was either "sort of scientific" or "very scientific".(Andrews). How pathetic is that? There has been a seeming acceptance of ignorance across the board on anything scientific. So no wonder why there is a lack of respect for space and scientific research. Maybe it's the science community's fault for making space uninteresting by taking the human out of it after all we just ended the shuttle program in 2011 leaving American astronauts no choice but to...

Tabloid Journalism

...is what the headline on the National Enquirer website read yesterday morning, should we care? If so, why do we care? Celebrity tabloids have become a standard to individuals in society whether it is liked or disliked. While standing in line at the grocery store, waiting at the checkout, it is hard not to notice the headlines on the magazines next to us reading absurd things such as “Michael Jackson Found Alive At Disneyland” or “Male Able to Give Birth” and although we know how crazy these things look, we still find ourselves flipping through the pages and let our curiosity get the best of us. Tabloids are found in just about every vehicle of media, television, print, radio, and of course, the Internet. According to Miriam Webster Dictionary, a tabloid is compressed or condensed into small scope featuring stories of violence, crime, or scandal presented in a sensational manner (Tabloid, 2012). It’s come to a point in our culture where a person is completely unable to avoid the gossip that is constantly around us. Tabloids have become a major part of American culture, and effects the way a particular audience views the difference of the life of celebrities and their own. American society is extremely fascinated with celebrities and what...

Department of Veterans Affairs

...Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and several other operations. However, when I left the Service it became clear to me years later that Veterans Affairs weren’t ready to treat our Men and Women coming back from War. So I did some extensive research on how the system may have failed the people it was supposed to serve. And a good example of the system’s failure was the second Fort Hood incident in 2014. Keywords: Veterans Affairs, Fort Hood, Service The Department of Veterans Affairs Information Management System: Serving those that Served The reason why I chose this subject is because it is close to home and it also affects me. After two weeks of this class I wanted to dive deep into information management. I want to know why our system at the Department of Veterans Affairs do not stand ready to serve the Veteran population of our Nation properly. So many Veterans complain about loss or insufficient pensions because the VA hasn’t track them sufficiently. Sitting at Veterans Hospital in Orlando, FL I hear two Vietnam era Veterans talk about not having VA ID Cards. And they have been waiting for it since 2009. I asked them why it took this long, and they said, “The system was backlogged”, or at least that’s what the VA told them and this was back in 2009. So the premise of this paper is really for me to uncover answers to three major Questions that I personally have: 1. How long is the integration process as far as Service Member transitioning from Active Duty to...

Media and Sport

...What is behind every major brand in the world? An iconic sportsman endorsing it. The celebrity status of sportsmen all over the world has continued to grow, especially in the past decade. Sports stars are often regarded as role models and therefore it has been suggested they should only be able to endorse certain brands and messages. I will be arguing in this essay through the example of NBA star LeBron James how I agree due to sporting stars growing influence on society, especially children and teens, they should not be allowed to endorse negative brands or messages such as unhealthy food. The influence of sporting stars in today’s society is major. Most athletes idolised by millions around the globe, kids holding onto every word that comes from their mouths. Think of your childhood idol for a second. When you are a child you are so infatuated by your idols you want to be just like them, do what they do, eat what they eat and wear what they wear. With this kind of influence on thousands of people caution needs to be taken when deciding the brands and messages one can endorse. A case study completed by youth in India provides proof of the influence Sporting Stars can have on our youth. About 14.1% of the children tested admitted to purchase products that appear in ads endorsed by their sporting heroes while 51.6% youngsters say that they make the purchase however, not always. 20.4 % say that they never buy products that appear in ads. Another 13% say that they do not want...

Autonomic Computing

...Laboratory, University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA parashar@caip.rutgers.edu, hariri@ece.arizona.edu 1 Abstract. The increasing scale complexity, heterogeneity and dynamism of networks, systems and applications have made our computational and information infrastructure brittle, unmanageable and insecure. This has necessitated the investigation of an alternate paradigm for system and application design, which is based on strategies used by biological systems to deal with similar challenges – a vision that has been referred to as autonomic computing. The overarching goal of autonomic computing is to realize computer and software systems and applications that can manage themselves in accordance with high-level guidance from humans. Meeting the grand challenges of autonomic computing requires scientific and technological advances in a wide variety of fields, as well as new software and system architectures that support the effective integration of the constituent technologies. This paper presents an introduction to autonomic computing, its challenges, and opportunities. 1 Introduction Advances in networking and computing technology and software tools have resulted in an explosive growth in networked applications and information services that cover all aspects of our life. These sophisticated applications and services are extremely complex, heterogeneous and dynamic. Further, the underlying information infrastructure (e.g., the Internet) globally aggregates large numbers of independent...

Violence and Children

...Math(2pm-3:25pm) Argumentative essay 05/23/2010 Violence and Children Do you want your children to have psychological problems, to be kept away from neighboring people, or even to become a criminal the rest of their life? In family, children always need love and care from their parents. Every parent always wants their children to become good citizens, to have a wonderful life in the future, so we always try to teach them the best thing we know. However, we always think that whatever we teach will help them in the future, so we want our children follow and obey us. In reality, there are many ways to teach our children, such as, giving them the freedom to discover or telling them what is wrong, and what is right. Nevertheless, there is a very common mistake about using violence to raise a child. It is wrong! Consequently, violent behaviors to children in any situation are absolutely unacceptable because of moral issue, psychological problems, and family relationship for our children. Some families use violence to teach their children because they think a light spanking has more effects than a thousand lectures. Besides, they might think it’s just a light hurt to their children, doesn’t make them too pained or leave trace in their skin. They just want to make their children to be scared and to never repeat the mistake again. However, they are wrong because even thought the light spanking or light violent action doesn’t make the child hurt, it leaves many worse psychological effects for the...

Religious Article Critique

...Final Essay This paper will give a brief critique of the articles that have been provided. Every article will be summarized with the main points of the article examined, and the overall significance of the article appraised. By doing this, it will be possible to read this paper and obtain a general feel for all the articles the have been provided. WHAT DO WE EXPERIENCE IF WE HAVE RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE? By Peter Antes. This article looks at why people who have religious experiences never “...saw a person who was totally unknown in the respective religious context where the apparition took place.” (Antes 3). Why don’t people ever see the God(s) from other religions, why do some people “...see Kali or Durga, while in Christian contexts, if the vision is that of a woman, St. Mary is seen instead.” (Antes 3). This thesis is rather profound in the fact that almost every religion claims to have religious experiences and divine visions, but never of the God(s) from other religions. An interesting contrast shown in the body of the article is between Madeleine Le Bouc, and Ramakrishna. The former, was said to be quite mad by Doctor Pierre Janet while the ladder was considered a saint. Antes points out that “...they had similar types of experience which, according to their surrounding milieus, found very different explanations: a medical one in terms of mental illness in the secular context of France, and a religious one in the Indian context of Hindu spirituality.” (Antes 2). By using...

Gai Risk Assessment Paper

...Global Asset, Inc. (GAI) Risk Assessment Paper By _____________ May 3, 2015 CMIT 425 Professor Effective Network System In this paper I will show the management team of GLOBAL ASSET, INC. the importance/benefits of having an internally operational Information System, over the benefits they believe they will reap when they outsource such services. I will also convince and help them design a better and more secure Information System. Among the odds of outsourcing IT services there are benefits too, but the cons outdo the pros: benefits include; * Reduced operational and recruitment cost: as the cost of having an internal IT firm outdo the cost of outsourcing the same services by over 30% * Risk sharing: This helps to share some of the responsibilities with the company you are outsourcing to. * Swiftness and Expertise: Mostly the firms that take the outsourced contracts have been in the industry for a long time and have built a strong and positive company profile through the quality of service they provide. * Concentrating on main process rather than the supporting ones: Outsourcing the minor/supporting processes enables the organization to have more time to perfect or strengthen their main business operations However the disadvantages outweigh the benefits and include: * Risk of Exposing confidential data: When such an organizations outsources IT services it risks exposing its customers and companies information to third parties, as in the case...

The Rise of Hentai in America

... (This paper, and the accompanying presentation I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way, were done in 2006 for a women’s studies course at Ohio State University. Some of the facts may be a bit outdated, some have been updated, but I still stand by the interpretation of the texts. And, warning, this posting will include illustrated examples of pornographic cartoons, so it is definitely rated NSFW. Part 1 here discusses the subject matter; Part 2 compares hentai to live action pornography; Part 3 considers the ramifications of hentai.) Created by a fan, and named “Jessica Rabbit Naughty Pin-up”. When Jessica Rabbit, the animated femme fatale of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? uttered the line “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way,” I sincerely doubt her creators knew that a decade later she would be made into an online porn star. Now, alongside other American and Japanese cartoon women, she has entire websites devoted to her. Is Jessica being objectified, degraded, and having her rights taken away? Logically, no, because Jessica is merely ink-and-paint, a figment of someone’s imagination brought to life only by the mechanical and visual trickery of animation. As she said, it’s not her fault she was drawn to represent a stereotypical male conception of an idealized woman. Why should we care if people have changed her from a children’s animated figure into an adult porn star? The purpose of this essay is to answer just that: the reasons we should care, and why research should not...

Tim Cook

...Chase Berecin Business Leader Grantham University For my last paper of this class. I have chosen to do my assignment on Tim Cook. Tim Cook is well known in the Communications and I.T. world. Tim cook took over of Apple after Steve Jobs came down with pancreatic cancer. Before Apple Tim worked at IBM, Intelligent Electronics, and Compaq. So let’s talk a little bit about his background and traits in leadership. Well when we look at Tim Cook and some of the various places he worked. He always hasn’t been a leader. He took a lot away from when he worked on the Macintosh side of the house of Apple he spent a lot of time with supplier relationships. When he was with Compaq he was the vice president and responsible for all of Compaq’s inventory. When Steve Jobs got sick Tim Cook had to step up and be the CEO of Apple. He had to do this three times while Jobs was out sick. When we look back at our studies on leadership, we see that there is a big difference between leaders and managers. I think Tim Cook is and would be a awesome leader to work for. This is what he said about leadership. Tim Cook "We want diversity of thought," he says. "We want diversity of style. We want people to be themselves. It's this great thing about Apple. You don't have to be somebody else. You don't have to put on a face when you go to work and be something different. But the thing that ties us all is we're brought together by values. We want to do the right thing. We want to be honest and...
