The second half of the 20th century was one of great strife, dissent and change. The second wave of feminism began in the 60’s and made its way well into the 80’s. By analyzing this wave, one can see that it was by far the most successful and the most eventful. There had always a kind of back and forth treatment that women experienced. During the World Wars, America needed female workers and used propaganda to obtain them but when we were not at war, women were treated as if they were precious little damsels that could not possibly be allowed to work. When at war desperation led to the use of propaganda like Rosie the Riveter to get women working. The book, "The Feminist Mystique" came out in 1953 and it challenged the 1950's Good wife image
