Actor - Ralph Fiennes
Actress – Rosario Dawson

Many of us know Ralph Fiennes better as the alter ego of Tom Riddle, the evil Lord Voldemort. That is one of the many reasons why I have chosen him as Hades, considering his role in Harry Potter. In Harry Potter Ralph Fiennes played a character who took many lives of innocent people. This is why I have chosen him as Hades because Hades was the god of the underworld who controlled the dead and was feared by many.
The second reason why I picked Ralph Fiennes as Hades is because he has acted as a villain in many movies so I believe it will be easier for him to get into the character of Hades. In his interview he had stated that when he is acting he is not himself anymore and he said that he loves the sense of being someone else.
The third reason why I chose him as Hades is because of his calm facial expression which seems almost stoic. Hades is described as an intimidating and cruel being who expresses no feeling towards others despite being surrounded with dead souls begging for another chance at life, he stays impassive. The first reason I have chosen Rosario Dawson as Persephone is because of her pervious role as Persephone in Percy Jackson and the lightning thief. She had portrayed a woman who was unafraid of her surrounds and was fearsome as the queen of the underworld.
Rosario Dawson has filmed many movies where she has had to play a character who leads a tough life. So I thought that she would be perfect for the role of Persephone because as the queen of the underworld she needs to become like someone who is terrifying and who will not be crushed by Hades might.
The third reason why I chose Rosario Dawson is due to her personal qualities. Even when she is off-camera she is active in political, social and environmental causes. She lent her voice to a campaign which was aimed at preventing domestic violent. This shows that she is a capable and has the qualities of portraying a queen who speaks up for what is right.

18 and the Forbiden Fruit

...Word Count: 1540 1 18 and The Forbidden Fruit Turning 18 is the first great legal milestone in a young person’s life. When they wake up on their 18th birthday, the law now sees them as adults. They can vote, buy property, adopt a child, film a pornographic movie, purchase a long gun and do a host of things that they could not have done the day before. Young people are also held accountable for their own actions and could be sued in court or thrown in jail for crimes they have committed; they are forced to sign up for the draft, risking the possibility of being sent off to distant lands to fight wars and they are now forced to pay taxes if they have a job. So with all these responsibilities and privileges given to 18 year olds, why not allow them to consume alcohol? Lowering the age limit to 18 is a great idea that can be a benefit for many. It teaches young adults to be responsible; “The majority of the people around the world who are introduced to alcohol at an early age and learn to drink appropriately (often at home, with food and in the company of family) continued to drink responsibly and rarely get drunk, so that drinking poses no threat to themselves or others” (Heath, 2000); it helps the government build a better infrastructure by taxing the alcohol consumed by these young people and finally, it is just plain fair. Our youth can kill for our country but they are not allowed to take a sip of alcohol? It is a double standard that should be eliminated. According to the...
