Sheryl Sandberg once said, “when life sucks you under, you can kick against the bottom, break the surface, and breathe again”. Gecko and Mr. Healey both had parts of their lives that plain out just sucked for them. Somehow they had to get through it and they did. Gecko struggled with a lot of things like getting picked on and trying not to make bad decisions. Mr. Healey also had some obstacles like raising the kids right and from when he was younger he didn’t make good decisions but now he’s out helping children like him. Gecko and Mr.healey, characters in the book “The Juvie Three”, written by Gordon Korman overcame obstacles in their lives. They did this because they learned from the things they did and other people did to help them in becoming better people in the book.…show more content… Gecko was just your average young boy before he made the decision to drive the getaway car in a video game stealing with his brother, resulting in a car crash and ending up in… juvie. Gecko had an huge obstacle every day because he did laundry but every time he did he’d get targeted and beat up. So gecko decided not to according to page 13 where he did this-. "He made the decision at right now-- today. To avoid a return visit to that laundry room, he'll happily follow this unperson to the end of the earth." Gecko became a better person throughout the book even with all his ups and downs. Getting out of juvie for a halfway house program was pretty great too even though there were some tough times the three boys made it through together. By now Gecko is probably out of the halfway house and living with his mom not making any more bad decisions because he knows that it just won’t turn out well in the end (if the book was
