Not too long ago, I watched a very interesting movie called “The Longest Day” directed by Ken Annakin, Andrew Marton, and Bernhard Wicki. This movie is one of the most interesting I have ever seen because portrays various perspectives! This movie is about Doomsday in World War II June 6th 1944, but it offers the viewpoints of the United States, Britain, France, and Germany. D-Day is one of the most famous days in history because it is when the tides of the war began to change when the allies launch a surprise attack!
There are various places where the movie takes place, France mostly, especially Normandy, The United States, and Germany. There are so many characters in this movie that it is hard to keep track of them all. However I do remember some of my favorites. One of the main generals played by John Wayne was in charge of the men dropping down on their airplanes. He instructed his platoon to carry clickers so when they land they will send one click out, which will receive two clicks if it is another member of their platoon. If not they were to open fire. Another of my favorite characters was Major Howard, who was instructed with an important duty of capturing…show more content… We were contemplating to not invade on June 6th because the weather was not suitable, but the men all decided to set sail, and it paid off. The brave soldiers the men are portraying were heroes. I wish that I could have even half the bravery inside of me that they have. Also, this movie showed me that it is quite easy to make friends in the war, regardless of the deadly time. There was one scene where a man was pouring his life story out to a man he did not even know the name of. Also, one man about to float down in his parachute was shaking and utterly terrified, his neighbor gave him a strong look, buckled that man’s helmet, and you could see the worry leave his face. I believe that all others would learn hopefully the same
